Went in for the first time with friends and fell in love! The shop was adorable, clean, bright, and well organized. There was a long line when we walked in but it moved surprisingly fast. There were so many unique ice cream flavors that it was a little tough to choose just one but the employees were extremely gracious by giving out several samples to help in my decision making process. I ordered one scoop of "cookie montress" and really enjoyed it, it was creamy, flavorful, and full of yummy stuff! Everyone else in my group enjoyed their ice cream as well. They had lots of options for sizes, cones, and sundaes so everyone should be able to find something. I LOVE ice cream and have been looking for somewhere to become a regular visitor and I think I found it at Kimmers, I will definitely be back soon! read more

I wish I could give Kimmer's two separate ratings. For the ice cream, I would give ten stars! I LOVE Kimmer's ice cream, the shop ambiance, and their service. For all of these, my experience has been nothing but the best. However... My husband and I have been eyeing their ice cream cakes for our next special occasion. For my birthday, my husband surprised me with a Kimmer's ice cream cake and I was SO EXCITED. But then we ate it :( The ice cream cake caused my rating to fall from ten stars to three. As expected, the ice cream in the ice cream cake was outstanding. The cake was meh - nothing great, but not awful, although it did have a freezer-burn taste. I would recommend a higher ice cream to cake ratio. Ice cream is your thing. You can cover up a mediocre cake with lots of ice cream and nobody will notice! But the killer was the frosting. The best way I can describe the frosting was a gummy, pasty mess. It coated my mouth with a terrible flavorless goo that I couldn't get rid of, and it completely ruined the cake. I have a feeling that the biggest problem with the cake was that it had been sitting around too long. Hopefully Kimmer's sees this post and makes a better effort to keep their cakes fresh. However, given my previous experience, I am not going to spend $31.99 to find out if freshness was the issue... Sorry, Kimmer's. I'll return for your ice cream but I have to give my ice cream cake business elsewhere. read more

Stopped in for a cone. On the plus side, very attractive stores and a delightful clerk. Also offered a very large selection of flavors. On the flip side I ordered a one scoop sugar cone. The bill was $4.17 with tax. The scoop was to me on the very small side. The ice cream itself was good but not worth the price tag. I had the misfortune of walking in behind a large family and had to wait for service. There was another associate working in the back. Had hoped that she could have come out and helped. We visited for the first time this evening. The ice cream was good and the prices were affordable, but the help was very slow. To make matters worse, the store has a practice of assigning a single person to each order. We had six people in our group. By the time our last person had received their order the first two people were finished. When we started our order two of the three servers were chatting about tickets to a show. We might give it another shot in a few months. Until then we will return to Grahams and Killwins. If you are in a group and want to avoid the slow service try giving cash to each person in your group so you do not all get stuck with a single server. read more

We stopped here today for the first time and I was very impressed! So many different flavors and the nice guy behind the counter let us sample a bunch before deciding what we wanted. Everything I tried was amazing, including the Caramel Sea Salt, Parent Trap, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Blue Moon. I loved the atmosphere with the pink and my daughter enjoyed eating at the pink sparkly tables. I will definitely go back! read more

Giving Kimmers 2 stars after our first visit. My wife ordered a single scoop of strawberry which was pretty good. I had a single scoop chocolate chip that was a loser. I'm 90% sure this place is "related" to the one in St. Charles and when they opened one in my city, I had to check it out. I had the best cookie dough ice cream of my life in St. Charles and this location didn't disappoint. I think it's the ingredients that make it so sweet and creamy. Decided to come here based on Yelp reviews. They are directly across from the train tracks in downtown Wheaton and right near the corner of Main and Front Street. When we got there, the line was probably 20 people deep or so, but it moved quickly. It was enough time for us to decide which flavors and type of dish to get while in line. Hubby and I tried the Caramel Sea Salt and the Parents Trap. Parents Trap was a cookies n creme with a peanut butter ribbon. Caramel was a sweet ice cream with a caramel ribbon. We ended up getting one scoop of each in a dish. They were both really good. The Parents Trap didn't have a ton of PB flavor, but the caramel was very sweet with a rich caramel flavor throughout. Hubby commented that you could taste the real milk. Both were very creamy, fresh and flavorful. They have your typical ice cream shop flavors, plus a few unique ones. The price was the best - it was just over $7.00 for those two single scoops. The woman accidentally overcharged us and was extremely apologetic about it and offered to comp our scoops. We didn't take her up on that, because it was an honest mistake. She thought the two kids in front of me were with us and hadn't seen them pay (someone else had rung them up) Would definitely go back again. read more

I love Kimmer's!! They have great standard flavors and always fun rotating gourmet flavors! I love that they do punch cards for free scoops, and they have a daily deal sign on the wall...if you do dinner downtown on a Friday night, save your receipt and go straight to KImmer's because you get a discount! I love that you see them making fresh waffle cones right on the counter, and the chocolate dipped cones/bowls are an awesome add-on! Don't bother going here. I ordered peanut butter and chocolate, there was no peanut butter. Ordered chocolate chip cookie dough, there wasn't one piece of cookie dough. Nothing! We looked at butter brickle, you could tell there were no pieces of the brickle. Apparently they make ice cream here without any added ingredients. read more
