A friend took me here for lunch yesterday and I walked into a hidden gem. The buffet food was hot and fresh, the pricing was affordable and the service was essentially like a carry out. What I truly loved about this place was the range of food options from breakfast all day, cheesesteaks and a whole buffet with soul food and asian cuisine. The fruit was fresh and the salads were good. My favorite items were the collard greens and cabbage from the buffet. I work nearby and will certainly be back. was extremely disappointed with my order and honestly feel the quality and portions did not match the price at all. The portions were very small, the food was overcooked, and the fish sandwich barely had what I would consider a full piece of fish on it. The seafood salad was also disappointing because it tasted like imitation seafood rather than the quality I expected. I have eaten at many soul food restaurants and have had much better food, larger portions, and better value elsewhere. For the amount customers are paying, the quality and quantity should be much better. I would not order from here again or recommend it based on this experience. I hope the owners and staff take reviews like this seriously and make improvements, because customers are spending their money and trusting the restaurant to provide food that is satisfying and worth the price. read more

I had not been to Jimmy's since 2012. We would stop after church for dinner. The food was good then. I ordered Catfish and 3 wings today. I wanted to get some sides but as I walked around eyeing the food I couldn't bring myself to purchase any. The food may be good but they need to remodel and clean the place up. Kimmys has some of the best yeast rolls I have ever had and had been around for decades. Staff is always pleasant. Unfortunately this order has turned me off from visiting again. I ordered half a dozen rolls and each one has soured. These were "fresh" out of the oven. To think that they are using spoiled ingredients to make these are concerning. read more

I went to this place for breakfast take out on the recommendation of my coworkers and one time was one too many.. Walking in i was overwhelmed with the smell of everything so i cant imagine eating in. I actually ended up with a headache that lasted over 24 hours because the smells were so potent.. I ordered breakfast food which was made to order and waited. The service was pretty quick but my scrambled eggs (no cheese) were runny and watery.. the French Toast wasn't bad but not worth me ever going back. My tip for this place; if your nose can handle the smells their buffet looks pretty extensive but if you dont want to smell the mixture of Chinese, southern, Italian and what ever else they seem to have going on. I personally dont want pigs feet next to anything im eating but thats just a personal preference. read more

I used to go to Kimmey often I liked the variety of food, hot and cold. The price is okay and the quality of the food is good. This location is very clean including the restroom. I stopped going because of the patrons.The partons who use the spoon meant for one dish used to get two or three items and creating a mess, sampling the food while fixing there plate, and coughing openly over the food. Kimmy management need to be more vigilant in this area. read more

I was so happy to return to Kimmies today I enjoyed my food ! It was nice and hot, big portions for under 10 dollars. The staff was very friendly. Great smells of fresh food, it hits your nose immediately. Also if you want coffee that's also at a very cheap price. The thrive on making you leave with a smile. Also you will run into a lot of people while you are there I love it, I just feel bad that I haven't been in a while. Today was worth it. I'm a happy customer. read more

The only place I've been to in Baltimore that has steak fish like my grandma makes. I live on the east side and come over to Wabash just for two pieces of steak fish. I've never tried the buffet food, but that's mainly a personal preference I have with buffet style food. read more

I'm very confused on how to rate this establishment because after three trips I've experienced ups and downs. I always venture in because it a adjacent to a laundry mat that I'm currently using close to home. It's always many customers so that's a good sign right ? Ehhhh well here the skinny. Due to covid restrictions the buffet is closed for self serve so you have two options. You can order fixed price dinners that include a meat and two sides or you can choose a size container and stand behind plexiglass partition telling a server what to put from the buffet in your container. Your container will then be weighed and priced based on weight. The fixed price dinners are coming from the same buffet as well. It's hit and miss for me, most of the veggies have been dry, un flavorful or warming trayed to death. The yams are always on point. The fried fish is cooked more to order in the back so that's fresh and good. The Ribs and roast beef are excellent. The meatloaf and chicken were dried out. read more

I love this place so much, and have for so long, that when I left Maryland around 2000-2005 while I was in the Navy, I'd actually catch myself thinking about Kimmy's as I travelled to different cities. Once while in Monterey, CA I found a place that was sort of similar but not quite as good. The owner turned out to be from Virginia & he totally "got it". Kind of a dearth of local places round here unless you head over to Reisterstown Road or Park Heights Ave. Kimmy's is hidden in the corner of the Northwest Plaza Shopping Center at the corner of Wabash and Northern Parkway. They've got your standard Asian dishes (sweet and sour, noodles, fried rice, meat and veg in a brown sauce) and Southern dishes (collards, BBQ ribs, banana pudding with 'Nilla wafers, black-eyed peas, candied yams). They have the best mac 'n' cheese, ever! Really, nothing makes a creamier mac 'n' cheese than a Velveeta base. Kimmy's is the drippy, oozy kind, not baked. Also, nice, well-seasoned deep-fried whiting fillets, chicken parts and Western fries; seasoning is crispy, salty, hint of celery seed. Standard cold salads include the Krab, potato, macaroni, plenty of fresh cut fruit. Only (really, the only) detractor was the white bread filler in the deviled egg yolk mix, really disappointingly dry and not creamy at all. Cases full of tooth-achingly sweet pieces of a wide variety of moist, iced, bundt cakes. Prices are the standard (my 1 1/4 lb. box was about $8.00). Worth a stop if you're out this way. read more

This place is going down. I went over today for early lunch and there drumsticks were hard enough to cut you esophagus. I realize that they are re-frying the lefy over chicken. There is no way at 11a that chicken should be dry and hard as it was/is. Then they get an attitude if you question. This is not the wst time bit it was my last time going there. I loved the spaghetti but it changed a little which is good but not as great as it used to be. OMG the taste was amazing! The meatballs are good. Wish they had some gravy meatballs also. The BBQ chicken is good but I'm a white meat lover and they use dark meat. The lake trout is wonderful! It's nice and seasoned. The rolls are good also. Mash potatoes and cabbage is good really. Porkchops are OK but fried a bit too long for me. Leaves it dry sometimes. Macaroni is yummy and cheesy. BBQ ribs are great. Meatloaf is dry and has a taste I don't like but can't tell what it is. Sweet potatoes are excellent! I wish they had Salisbury steaks and gravy. I do recommend this place but I must admit that it can use some adding and subtracting to get better than what they are. I am a Bmore native and I must agree with the other reviews on Kimmy's. It is the only place to go for soul food in the Bmore metro area and its the best soul food restaurant in the MD area. They have everything cold and hot...fried fish, bbq ribs, collard green, string beans, pasta salad, devil eggs, soft fresh rolls, smothered turkey necks, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese...whatever you like. The place is awesome!! Its clean, good customer service....they have all kinds of deserts too....I can only speak for the Wabash location, but Im sure the others are just as good.
