I struggle with this review. Arrived late Thursday and looked for a place nearby the hotel. The initial service and drink delivery went well. I ordered the crab chowder to start. The chowder tasted good. It was creamy and had a good amount of vegetables. The problem was the crab in the soup was almost nonexistent. They were able to infuse some crab flavor but visible crab in the chowder would have been a great improvement. I ordered the turkey BLT with a side cesar. The cesar was good and the best part of the meal. It had the right amount of dressing, parmesan, croutons and acid. It all blended well. The turkey BLT had potential but was disappointing. It was made in a club style with multiple layers of toast. Very generous portions of turkey and the bacon was cooked nice and crispy. The toast was bordering on burnt and served in a way that the really brown toast was at the bottom. The bread had more of consistency of a crouton. It was hard to eat the sandwich and it definitely made the roof and base of your mouth raw. The sandwich was almost impossible to eat due to the toast which contributed to the dryness of the BLT. It is a nice looking bar with good potential and atmosphere. The quality of the food needs improvement If the BLT is indicative of the rest of the menu. The drinks are solid, I asked for an old fashioned with 1/2 the simple syrup. It was excellent. Service at the end tailed off. read more

The honey wings were a table favorite, though the server recommended the honey old bay wings and I wished we'd tried it. Probably the highlight of the Marriott, at least for my visit. Our group had time to kill before an event and we were directed by the event staff. They said that it would be a good place to pass the time and get a drink to bring to the show if you want. For an influx of about forty people they were able to accommodate us and do it swiftly. Our group definitely made it a busy evening for them. I can echo what one reviewer said, this place is not awful. However, you have to remember this is a hotel bar. This is a place that has the basic stuff to make your basic drink. Definitely not a full bar. They do have nightly specials. Which were a hit for the night that we were there with our group. But this is definitely not a place I would go out of my way to visit on the regular. read more

I immediately tried calling back, but no one answered the phone even though the restaurant is open until 12:00 AM. There were only a few customers (2-3) in the restaurant at the time, so for my call to be ignored feels unprofessional--especially considering I tipped generously. This restaurant is inside of the Marriott which is lovely. The ambiance is very nice, the food isn't pricey and came out nicely plated. However, thats all the positives I can offer. The biggest issue that makes me not want to return or recommend is the fact that it took over an hour to receive my order and 30 minutes to receive some hot tea. I had a party of 8 and the most "intricate" dish that could've taken a long time was a crab cake sandwich or a burger- both came out cold. That's insane to have to wait that long for cold food. Also, the waitress kept teleporting away so we couldn't even ask for updates or remind her about the tea or to refill the waters. The guy who finally served us the food was very pleasant tho and made sure to correct a few of the items that weren't right. Overall, terrible wait time and service. read more

I was very much looking forward to have a late lunch/earlydinner here today. I arrived around 3:00 pm and the restaurant was empty. The host was polite and seated me immediately. I sat for 5 minutes when the host informed me that he was searching for the waitperson. I waited another five minutes and two more parties were seated. The host came and offered to bring me water. While the host was away, the waitperson arrived, passed my table, and started taking orders for the second party that arrived. The host returned with water for both tables. He explained to the waitperson that I was the first to arrive followed by the other two parties. The waitperson went to retrieve drinks for the second party but never came to my table. The waitperson took the second party's order, entered it into the computer,, and stood watching something or someone at the bar. By this time, approximately 20 minutes had passed. I watched the waiter stand at the bar for a few minutes without returning to take my order. I then decided to leave. I was extremely disappointed. I had reviewed the menu and was excited to eat at the Yard. I wish I could recommend this place but I was not given the chance to experience the food. If the waiter happens to read this, I want him to know he missed out on a good tip. read more

The variety of beer was decent, especially with the bottles. The food was superb, but the service was even better. The ambiance was terrific for relaxing after hours with friends and acquiantances in comfortable chairs. I was staying at the Marriott for a few days, and thought I would try out the Yard for breakfast. I was greeted very quickly at the entrance and seated. The interior was nice, well light, and clean. The servers were very friendly and engaging. As you'd expect at any hotel, the prices were a little higher, but actually not that bad. I opted for the breakfast buffet, and it comes with your beverages. The glass for the tomato juice was pretty large, so I didn't even need a refill. They had scrambled eggs, french toast, bacon, sausage patties, sausage links, fresh fruit, oatmeal, cereal, etc. I opted for the eggs, bacon, sausage links, and fresh fruit. The eggs were good, although they could have used a little refresh. I thought the link sausage was excellent! It had a nice hint of heat, and awesome flavor. The bacon definitely had a nice smoky taste, but wasn't quite as crispy as you'd expect, but that's likely because of the warming tray. I was checked on by my server and another server during the meal, and they seemed very intent on making sure that everything was good, and that my coffee cup didn't get too low. All in all a good experience, and I'd try it again for lunch or dinner. read more

This restaurant appears to be significantly understaffed with regard to food preparation, at least part of the time. On July 4th, a group of 6 of us went there in the afternoon, two hours in advance of an evening event. We assumed that a relatively order of drinks, burgers, and salads, no appetizers, would come out relatively quickly. There were only about 6 other customers in the restaurant. It took close to 75 minutes for all of our meals to arrive, and this was about 15 minutes after our server told us our meals would be "right out." Other smaller groups who arrived very shortly after we did had not yet received their meals even after we quickly wolfed down ours. As we were leaving, we noted that one acquaintance, who had arrived 30 minutes before our departure, had still not been greeted by anyone since having been seated. I hope this is not a persistent problem, but it was, for me, an unacceptable experience. read more

Was in town for a conference. The food was fantastic! The wait staff even better. Great conversation and hospitality. I did encounter a problem though. I ordered breakfast via the hotel's app the night before...AND IT NEVER SHOWED UP! I talked to the waitstaff and they were going to report it...to no avail. It was still on my hotel bill. I expected a credit. The staff did make up for it with crab cakes, but I still shouldn't have been charged. Don't have the energy to fight this. Easily the worst beer purchasing experience I've ever had. Tried to buy a beer on draft and was directed to their "beer wall" that had 4 beers on it. We then had to buy a preloaded card to scan at the wall to get self-serve beer. It took about 10 minutes to get the card, and then another minute or two to pour the beer since the machine was being finicky. The beer was excellent, but would have tasted exactly the same from a traditional tap. Tried to get a refill, and the cards didn't work, so we told the bartender who had to get the manager to reset the system to get our beer. Gave up after 2 beers, so the total came to $15/pint since the cards were prepaid. If I can convince one person to not waste their money on this gimmick beer wall, my life will have purpose. read more

I grabbed a quick dinner here after a long travel day. Service was prompt and friendly. I got a local IPA and a crab cake sandwich with fries. The crab cake was better than I was expecting--there was mostly lump meat and no breadcrumbs. I didn't love the bun (too buttery, not in a good way)and ended up just pulling the crab cake off and eating it. I'd probably just order a single crab cake if I had it to do over. The Yard was a surprisingly good choice for dinner! It had been a long day and we didn't care to go out to an out of hotel restaurant. The Yard was convenient and had lots of tap handles at the bar. We sat at the bar and was greeted by staff that was friendly, accommodating, and bubbling with good energy. We asked questions about the food and beverage menus that were answered by the bar staff. I decided to order a Reuben with seasoned fries and one of the local brews that I was allowed to sample. My coworker ordered an Angus Burger with sweet potato fries. We both hit the food jackpots with our orders!! My Reuben was juicy, tender, and so very tasty!! The fries were also very good! My food came out quickly and hot! There were more fries than two people could consume so I could only eat about one-quarter of them! My Reuben was likely the best I've had in recent memory. The meat was very tender and tasty! The sandwich was so tall that I practically needed to unhinge my jawbone to take a bite!! It may be called The Yard, but the food quality and the wonderful staff are miles ahead of the rest!!! Stopped in on a game day to grab a quick bite to eat before catching the Monday night ravens game. I would not advise stopping in here on a game day because it's going to be super crowded and you won't get the level of service that will make you comfortable. We also chose to order a crab pretzel as an appetizer while we were deciding on what we would have for our main course. Had I known the service would be so slow I would've ordered that main course at that time because we never saw the waitress again. The crab pretzel in the drinks were dropped off by either of a bartender or a bar back. The crab pretzel was OK not a lot of crab meat in the crab dip on it but that's what you really expect from a bar. Drinks were OK and after just for a Stella. My sister ordered a mixed drink and she seem to be happy with it. The only bad part was the level of service I really wanted to get something to eat because I was starving but after waiting over an hour from the time we arrived I just decided to go elsewhere to get something to eat. Stayed at the Marriott so I got to go breakfast twice. First day I got oatmeal and the power smoothie bowl. The smoothie bowl is more like a creamy yogurt but it was really good with pine nuts! The oatmeal was a create your own and was really good with some brown sugar. I'm the next time I got the egg white omelet which is highly recommended. It came with a side of breakfast potatoes which were amazing and they gave me a million. And they included avocado and sweet potato NOM. The egg white omelet was huge so I could only eat half. They also gave me a free banana and bar because I asked for a fruit cup but they didn't have any. I also was in a rush and they were super quick. Great service!!! read more

We had a reservation at 6:00 and arrived at 6:01 just to be told we would have to wait 10 minutes for a table. A half an hour later, we asked again and were told they have more reservations available online than they do seats. Maybe fix that or don't take reservations? They have to know that people going to the Hippodrome, right down the street cannot accommodate delays, which is why someone would make a reservation. I had mixed thoughts on the Yard house. To note we were there on the 28/29 of December. The bar at night was well tended. Mike was great and attentive. Awesome beer selection and free chips. Our breakfast was a bit slow but our server made sure we had some hot zucchini bread in the mean time and checked back often. When the food did arrive is was very good though the bacon had been left off my broken egg sandwich. It seemed they had more guests than help but again that could have been the holiday.
