Her knowledge of kimonos and her eye for color were truly impressive. I was wowed by her experience working with well-known Hollywood stars--she even styled the cast of Disney's Shōgun! Despite her incredible resume, she was so warm and down to earth. Kentaro-san, the photographer, created a calm and relaxed atmosphere that the kids felt completely at ease during their photoshoot. They provided a rental wedding kimono for my wife and were extremely professional from start to finish. Wow, what an awesome experience! We had a photoshoot for my daughter's Seijinshiki (coming of age). Ms Sueko Oshimoto took lots of time preparing our daughter's hair and makeup. Then patiently helping my daughter select the perfect kimono, obi and other accessories. I can go on and on about how amazing my experience was with Sueko and Kentaro, but to make this review short and actually readable, I will break this up into three categories: before, during, and after. Before: As I was coming from out of the country, most of my interactions before the shoot were via email. I was booking a photoshoot for myself and my 97-year-old grandmother. Kentaro was super informative, laying out the timeline for our scheduled shoot--hair, makeup, styling, and of course the studio time--and he sent me an online gallery of their kimonos to choose from. I was a bit nervous about my height (as a 5'10" female with an athletic build and broad shoulders) fitting into their kimonos, but my concerns quickly disappeared after discussing it with Kentaro. He was incredibly reassuring and helpful. During: This was my first time wearing a kimono, and Sueko, with the help of Kentaro, took care of everything. They dressed me and took the time to explain and share knowledge about the kimono and its traditional styling. It was incredibly informative for me, being a fourth-gen Japanese-American who had never worn a kimono and knew very little about the Japanese culture. I found myself getting emotional when Sueko put the final touches on--it was such a meaningful moment. What I didn't anticipate was how much time and effort the styling requires. Standing for long periods wasn't an issue for me as an able-bodied person, but I hadn't considered this for my grandmother. Sueko, however, was incredibly understanding and styled my grandmother with such speed and grace. Kentaro and Sueko worked seamlessly together, always keeping my grandmother's comfort in mind, and they managed to create beautiful photos while making sure the experience was enjoyable for her. What I'm trying to say is that Kentaro and Sueko thought of everything. All we had to do was show up and smile! After: I received the photos later the same day! The online gallery was super easy to access, share (which was my favorite part), and download. From the bottom of my heart, I thank Kentaro and Sueko. They have created a business filled with love and passion, and they spread those feelings to everyone they work with.
