I reached out to Julie to help make a veil that used lace from my grandma's wedding dress from 1956, we met in person to make design selections and she expertly walked me through all the different options and allowed me to try them on so I could select what I liked best. Throughout the entire process Julie was communicative and kept me updated on the status of the veil. Since the lace used in my veil was very delicate and old it required special care to use it as part of my veil design and to preserve it after I wore it for my wedding. Julie took extreme care in ensuring that the lace was protected and researched how best to preserve the lace after I wore it for my wedding. Give then delicate nature of the lace, and its sentimental importance to my family it meant alot that she was so thoughtful and careful in creating and preserving the veil. Initially I didn't think I would go for a veil, but after trying on some different, non-traditional options when I found my dress, I decided if I was going to do it, it had to be unique! To feel extra magical, I decided I wanted my veil to be a pair of "wings" that attached to the shoulders of my gown. When I brought this idea to the owner of the shop where I bought the dress, she immediately recommended Julie. Our original idea was to order some of the lace appliqués from my gown from the dressmaker and use those on my wings so they would match my gown exactly. Unfortunately, they were all out of stock at the time and did not plan on having more until the month of my wedding! Julie said no problem - We would just look at the dress, find some lace that worked well with the appliqués on the dress, and she would custom-tint it by hand so it would match exactly. I was a little nervous because that seemed challenging, as the color on the appliqués was such a subtle peachy-blush-champagne color, but I figured Julie knew best! When I came to pick up my wings, I couldn't believe how amazing they looked! The shade of the lace was spot on, and the amount of sparkle we decided to keep within the lace was perfect. I got to try them on with my gown at my final fitting, and the whole alterations crew was abuzz with how awesome they were. With the whole ensemble on too, I could see how well the lace on the wings organically flowed into the lace on the bodice of the gown, trailing off into just tulle on most of the length to showcase the details on the train. Come wedding day I decided to save the wings for after the first look so the groom would be surprised as I walked down the aisle - He knew the veil would be "something different," and he was totally surprised and loved that I got something so unique. Every message (and there were many!) throughout the 2 month period that I communicated with Julie was promptly replied to and followed up with detailed information. I found Julie on Yelp and what a find! I went in looking for a veil and came out with the perfect veil plus a floral headband. I had no intention of buying a headpiece but once in her boutique, I became enamored with a large floral piece. Despite my bridesmaids' protests that it was a little too big for the style of my dress, I didn't listen and bought it anyway. Then, after trying it on with my dress and other accessories, I realized my mistake. Julie was amazingly helpful though and actually made me a completely NEW piece that was basically the same only with a smaller profile. Since the new piece wasn't ready in time to try out during my bridal hair trial, she allowed me to use the piece I had (you can view it in the picture gallery). I love both so much.
