I have been searching for the right instructor for five years. Then I met Grand Master Hwang. The best instructor I have ever met.

Ask the Community - Kimoo Martial Arts

I have a 4 year old. Would there be a good class for him?

Yes, mostly we recommend bringing him for a free trial session where master Hwang will assess him based on the different minimum criteria needed to start the martial arts. Please come to the class between 4pm to 7pm on Mon, Wed and Friday.

As he continued his journey, that same energy evolved to him wanting to consistently improve and advance. He would watch the more advanced belts in awe and would get excited knowing he could be at that level one day. The format and schedule of practice times are super flexible. We gave him the autonomy to choose when he would go to practice which promoted self motivation. He would come home practicing his forms and kicks and we could see the joy this sport gave him. In addition, he's become stronger physically. Little guy has a mini six pack and his push up form is pretty legit. Grandmaster Carlos does an incredible job managing and teaching kids from all levels. He understands every child has their own physical limits, but still sees the potential in each individual and pushes them to try to achieve it. His classes are very well run and consistently sets an atmosphere of discipline, respect, and focus. Last night our child broke his first board and advanced to yellow belt. We told him how proud of him we were, and for the first time ever, His response was "I'm proud of myself too". Core memory locked. Program is worth every penny (which honestly is very affordable)

Came to JTC Taekwondo over a year ago after winning a raffle for some free classes. Way better…read morethan the lame Disneyland trip grand prize! And, I don't have to wait in line! On the other hand, no churros here. Over the past year, my daughter has already went thru different levels of belts. From White, Yellow, Orange, and now Green. While some will say that's a testament to her persistence and hard work (and I agree), I also give credit to the level of teaching at JTC. The instructors not only teach discipline and good technique, but also do so by having fun with the kids. Lots of kids start here at a very young age, maybe 4 or 5. I can understand that some of them might be a little intimidated by the sternness and decibel level of the instruction here. But, with a few hugs here, and some words of encouragement there, after a session or two, it won't be a problem anymore. Trust me, I speak from experience. My daughter even cried the first time. By the 3rd session, she was a pro. Like I said, the instructors are great. Besides teaching them discipline and form and such, they also help them with life in general. For instance, they help them memorize certain information that they will need in their young lives such as parents and grandparents birthdays and contact information. Also, they teach them "home rules" which pertain to being a good person when at home (i.e. being respectful and keeping things in order). When testing, while they are in a big group testing (and by belt color at times), there are times when they will ask a certain question or perform a certain move all by themselves. This encourages public speaking and being independent. There are stools inside the facility if you want to watch the class for the day. They probably won't accommodate all the parents, but not all parents will stay anyway. Some will drop them off during the 45-minute class. Partly because maybe they have other parental things they need to do, but also because the parking situation leaves something to be desired. It shares parking with Kumon, a music teaching facility, and a hair salon. Be careful not to park in the hair salon's parking spaces. The lady will chase after you with a curling iron, hair dryer, or hairbrush if you do! #kiddingnotkidding While Master Jung Woo Soo isn't always in the building he does come in from time to time. With his pony tail, he may look intimidating, but he loves the kids and the kids love him. Parents like him, too! LOL! When he isn't there, Mrs. Kim runs the show! She is awesome! She is equally as good with the kids and even better with the parents. She is always nice and polite and always seems to be smiling! When she's not handling the day-to-day operations, she is out on the floor helping the kids be the best that they can be. TLDR: Great place to learn Taekwondo and other things. But bring running shoes in case you park in the wrong spot.

He has done swimming lessons, soccer, and Tball. This is the first and only activity that he wants to practice at home, participate in a camp, etc. I attribute this both to his natural inclination towards a martial art AND the wonderful instructors at JTC. Mr. Evon is especially kind, fun and respectful. My son looks up to him and enjoys talking with him and asking questions about Tae Kwondo. Also, when my oldest son first started, his little brother did a trial class as well. While he is still too little to fully participate, the teachers have always made him feel welcome and included, and he never feels left out - which he does with most other "older kid" sports he watches his brother play. It has been a great experience for our whole family!

They have three boys that are simply amazing in the art form. We started to attend and immediately recognized the skill level of the coaches, MASTER Evon, Coach Scott, and Coach Mike. They have taught my kid the discipline of the art, the respectfulness that comes with their style of training and the patience and perseverance used to teach and groom to all those that attend! Myself and my wife feel especially blessed to have their coaches in our lives and have groomed my son to be excited, involved and experienced, especially in the art of taekwondo along with the other classes they offer that include jiu-jitsu and wrestling. If you are looking for a gym, whether you are a younger child, teenager or an adult, I highly recommend this gym. The coaches are very keen on teaching the students the art and appear to have a very experienced successful background from a high-level and have been coaching for many moons. If you are not a student and are interested in any of these art forms please check this gym out. It will help your kid to grow, get skilled in the art of self-defense and become more disciplined along with really having a great time. Never a dull moment at the gym! I really wanna commend MASTER Evon and Coach Scott along with Coach Mike for their dedication to the students as they never miss any time when it comes to practice and motivate the kids to be great and want to do well. Many thanks to Modern Training Academy...you gotta check it out.
