It's a no-frills gym, which I actually love, no fancy changing rooms or spa water, just good people and solid training. The variety of classes is great (even though I've only made it to Sash's and the intro to Muay Thai), and if you stick with it, you will definitely see results. I did not remember much, though we did our Choo Moo 4 and West Coast Forms outside in the back (we had to memorize our rows and columns to avoid ruining the black belt show when we perform). The trash bins are frequently overflowing, the floors are sticky, women's locker room has used sanitary pads in the showers. Overall cleanliness has declined significantly. It's crazy to see several employees standing behind the front desk chatting or on their phones while basic maintenance and housekeeping issues go unaddressed. A gym should feel clean, safe, and well maintained, but that's no longer the experience. It's not family-friendly either! If you're looking for the quality and atmosphere this ain't it anymore.

It has now been about a month since I started attending the intro class, and I wanted to write about my positive experience here. This is a family owned gym that cultivates a welcoming environment. I was very happy with the class,Chris ran an organized class ,he had a solid ability to impart information and make sure everyone was on point for the drills,gave each of the fighters tips on their technique. My partner was Mark,he was knowledgeable and fun to work with. I live and train in Las Vegas,but try to hit local gyms when I travel. I have been to over a dozen across the country,and Ascend will definitely be my home away from home while visiting South Bay Area.
