I definitely recommend eating out there. Food quality is consistent and delicious. Marinated crab is a new addition and its amazing with rice! Highly recommend this place.

Walking in, we were greeted with a smile. The interior of the restaurant was spacious with a private feel since they had areas sectioned off from one another. We ordered the Japchae (5/5), Boneless Yangnyum Galbi (4/5), Pork Belly (4/5). Japchae was delicious with a hint of smokey flavour to it. The noodles were chewy and complemented well with the savoury flavours of bulgogi. The vegetables added a nice crunch to every bite. The mushrooms added a chewy and fun texture to the dish. Boneless Yangnyum Galbi was so tender. Its marinade was on the sweet side which we weren't really a fan of but we still enjoyed the dish. Pork Belly was also tender. It was thinly sliced which was quite a let down since we typically prefer pork belly sliced a bit thicker. The BBQ we ordered came with two bowls of rice and lettuce (non-refillable), ssamjang and sesame oil with black pepper and salt for dipping, and some side dishes that were refillable: kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumbers and sweet potato. The overall quality of the ingredients, especially the meats, were great. It was pretty telling how much the cooks enjoyed prepping and cooking the dishes. This place is on the pricier side which is reasonable for the quality of their food. The portions are also reasonable for their price-points. I'd come back on a special occasion and/or when I'm craving japchae. The servers we had were attentive, checking in every so often to clear our dishes and change our grills.

Fast forward to 2026. We're in the Toronto area and I notice there are a handful of Myung Dong style restaurants on my search. We ended up picking this one because it was the closest one from our hotel. Without knowing the quality of the other options, we were so glad we made this choice. Similar menu and the kimchi is one of the stars of the show. Slightly unripe, but loaded with garlic, we couldn't get enough of it. The kalguksu had a mild, but peppery broth; and all members of my family thought it was the best they'd ever had. We also ordered the bossam (pork belly) and steamed mandoo. Eating here was the highlight of our trip. We even considered going back the next day!

There are some booth tables and others are wooden tables in the middle. The banchan was just kimchi and yellow pickled radish. I prefer when they give a variety of little starters. I got a beef soup (bulgogi jjigae) which the broth ended up spicier than I wanted. I thought it should have been on the sweeter side. There are many other Korean dishes one can choose from, especially their popular large pork dumplings. Overall, it was a good experience with my friend.
