    Original fried chicken. Boneless.
    John D.

Visited twice. My table was one of a handful. Service was quick. Staff was very polite and attentive. First time. Fried chicken and rice cracker in veggie soup. Rice cracker in veggie soup was.. different. I really liked the appetizers. Kimchi. Glass noodles. Pickled turnip (I may be wrong about the turnip). And pickled bean sprouts. Waitress brought out takoyaki AFTER I paid the bill. What a cute gesture! Thanks for making my birthday! I really appreciated it. Second time. Fried chicken and tofu veggie soup. I enjoyed it more than the previous soup. Appetizers were on point - which was expected. Staff was, again, polite and attentive. Thanks for having veggie options!

    Sad banchan
    Tania L.

Compared to the last time I came here, I found that the quality of the food has decreased. Service is almost non-existent, and the banchan is quite boring/bad. I ordered a kam ja tang (classic Korean fare) - and for $10.99, I was expecting as much if not more meat as other places. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed to find that I had three big hulking pieces of bone... with not that much meat on said bones. That said, I did enjoy the addition of the bean sprouts and I liked having more napa cabbage - I just wish that it wasn't at the expense of protein. The flavour was good, slightly spicy and very salty. Last time I came to Song Cook's, my favourite part was the purple rice - this time, I found the purple rice to be quite dry, stiff, and not really earthy nor rich. It was quite saddening. My friends ordered the seolleong tang and spicy stir-friend pork on a hot plate. The guy who ordered the ox bone soup wasn't used to its very pure and clear taste; he found it tasteless and hated it. The banchan this time was kimchi (decent), some stringy and chewy seaweed salad (weird), bean sprouts, and japchae. The bean sprouts are usually my favourite, but these weren't your standard sesame oil ones. They were lightly salted, but were still good. However, the japchae was disgusting. We left it virtually untouched. There was none of the rich sesame goodness, and it actually had a very stale flavour. I'll probably not return - I loved Song Cook's before, but I now find it grossly overpriced and not that good. With so many other Korean options, there's no reason to come here anymore.

Was craving for some Korean food and came across this place so my friend and I decided to check it out. When we arrived on a weekday afternoon, it was not busy at all and there was only one other table seated. Not sure if our server was the owner or just a worker but he was really helpful in suggesting what noodles to get, and very welcoming. He recommended I get the seafood stir fried noodles and mentioned that he made the sauce himself. I enjoyed the food, and the noodles were very saucy as well which I couldn't finish in the end. Overall, the food was good and filling, and workers are very nice.

Kung pung gi- jajeungmeung- rice cake- spicy pork bulgogi
    Larena L.

Came here with my sister for lunch- and dang was that the best decision we've made in a while ! We got the rice cakes (Dok bokki), spicy bulgogi (pork) and then the combo with jajeungmeung and kung pun gi Everything was awesome. Best dishes were definitely the spicy bulgogi and the jajaeungmeung. But everything was good don't get me wrong. The rice cakes were just the right amount of chewy not too fishy either and just perfect tang of spice. The kungpung was crunchy but the sauce was little too sweet ish. Still good but I like another places sauce a bit better. Coming back for sure

My friend and I came here on a Saturday around 4pm and there were only three or four other people in the restaurant, which we were a little skeptical about. But I guess that's a good time to come to avoid any lunch or dinner rushes. My friend ordered the beef bibimbap which she liked a lot, and I ordered the pork bone soup which I had been craving for a few weeks. The soup was great - really flavourful, had a good amount of pork and a bit of a kick to it as well. Service was good as the restaurant wasn't very busy - the food arrived only a few minutes after ordering. The prices were very reasonable as well. I'm not in that area too much but would return if I happen to be there again, and would recommend checking it out if you're looking for Korean food!

Pork bone soup. Pork Kalbi. Eaten side dishes: Kimchi, pickled radishes and onions

This is by far the BEST korean food I've ever had. I'm in Mississauga a lot during the weekends and this weekend I was craving some Pork Bone soup. I've been to 3 different korean restaurants (all my finds were through Yelp), but this one definitely beats them all. This place was small on the outside but when my boyfriend and I walked into the restaurant, this place was a lot bigger then expected, filled with Korean families enjoying meals. The menu was at least 5-6 pages long with a wide variety of different apps, entrees and combos. All of the meals were reasonably priced and instead of calling the servers... there were bell buttons at each table (which makes it extremely convenient). I had asked our server what was popular on their menu and he was really kind and showed me four different recommendations and popular dishes. I ordered their famous pork bone soup and replaced my white rice for Brown rice, barley and beans (additional 2 bucks), my boyfriend ordered pork Kalbi with white rice and we got a take out meal of spicy pork Katsu that came with rice and a side of kimchi. Our side dishes that came were onions that were marinated with a sauce, pickled radishes and kimchi. The pork bone soup came with two scrumptious extremely meaty pieces of pork bone, cabbage, potatoes and topped off with bean sprouts. The brown rice, barley and beans were so good and healthy... it hit the spot. My boyfriends pork Kalbi was delicious too. The service, atmosphere, and overall experience was great. The food was the best Korean food I've ever had and i would most definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area. I would come back to try other things on their menu.

    Spicy pork with rice

We had a group of 6 for our monthly get together. We wanted to try something new. We've done Korean BBQ but never an a-la-carte. We were seated immediately and our waiter was actually the chef of the restaurant. He treated us all so well, made us feel welcome and was very helpful and informative when it came to choosing items off the menu. I can speak on behalf of our group in saying that this place was really great. I ordered the spicy pork with rice. It came on a sizzling plate. When they brought it to us you could smell the spiciness of the pork (I love spicy food so I was excited to dig in). The chef came and checked on us every once in a while. They are priced fairly - no complaints here. The restaurant itself was very clean. There is a pot of fresh green tea on the table when you're seated and they refill as needed. Overall a very good first experience of Korean a-la-carte. Will definitely recommend and return.

This is our to go Korean restaurant in sauga. We come here very often and we are always happy and satisfied with the food. The service is pretty good compare to most asian restaurants. I love their "special" menu and it is different from time to time. You can actually save some money from ordering there. Korean restaurants are known for their side dishes. Song Cook's may not have the best varieties, however their main courses (noodles, soups, bbq...ect) are pretty amazing. I recommend this place and we will definitely come back!

Walking in, we were greeted with a smile. The interior of the restaurant was spacious with a private feel since they had areas sectioned off from one another. We ordered the Japchae (5/5), Boneless Yangnyum Galbi (4/5), Pork Belly (4/5). Japchae was delicious with a hint of smokey flavour to it. The noodles were chewy and complemented well with the savoury flavours of bulgogi. The vegetables added a nice crunch to every bite. The mushrooms added a chewy and fun texture to the dish. Boneless Yangnyum Galbi was so tender. Its marinade was on the sweet side which we weren't really a fan of but we still enjoyed the dish. Pork Belly was also tender. It was thinly sliced which was quite a let down since we typically prefer pork belly sliced a bit thicker. The BBQ we ordered came with two bowls of rice and lettuce (non-refillable), ssamjang and sesame oil with black pepper and salt for dipping, and some side dishes that were refillable: kimchi, bean sprouts, cucumbers and sweet potato. The overall quality of the ingredients, especially the meats, were great. It was pretty telling how much the cooks enjoyed prepping and cooking the dishes. This place is on the pricier side which is reasonable for the quality of their food. The portions are also reasonable for their price-points. I'd come back on a special occasion and/or when I'm craving japchae. The servers we had were attentive, checking in every so often to clear our dishes and change our grills.

And indeed it was. The place was quite crowded but we managed to snag a table in the middle of the restaurant. I quickly looked at the menu, but immediately I was drawn to the Bibimbap ("Comes with rice, vegetables and egg"), mostly because it had been a while since I'd eaten that venerable dish. It arrived fairly quickly after I ordered it and obviously I had to mix all the components together along with a small dish of the included gochujang. And yeah, it totally hit the spot. All the components were way above average and while I could've used a little more spice, I managed to inhale the whole thing in what had to be record time. My dining companion ate the soup for which the place is known and he was pretty much blown away, so it's a safe bet to say I'll be returning if only to try that for myself.

I've never had a truly bad food/service experience here and in a city where everything is closed by 11 pm, I like that I can always rely on this place for a midnight craving (it's open till 2 am). I think I go back here time and again because this place fills a void in the types of restaurants available in the city. There aren't many late-night sit-down Korean restaurants so I inevitably find myself here. The corn cheese is something I get every time I go here. I really enjoy the salty and sweet combination! I also had the pollack soup for the first time (number 7 on the menu) and thought it was both fishy and spicy, which I really liked.
