06/02/2026- A feral cat was brought to a pet hospital (Stanton Pet Hospital, 8591 Katella Ave,…read moreStanton, CA) due to breathing issues. His exam and treatment were being covered by a third-party person or organization (Hilary Strauss/ Second Chances). During the check in, hospital staff were informed of the possible cause for the cat's issues. He had possibly ingested water from a bowl that was covered in mold. The cat was dropped off under the impression that he would be treated and returned to the primary person (feeder). The cat was sedated while an x-ray was completed. He was determined to have fluid in his lungs or abdomen. The hospital and the agent for the third party (Hilary Strauss) made the decision to euthanize the cat while he was sedated. This decision was made without any signs of suffering or distress, positive results of an incurable condition, or the inclusion of the primary who delivered the cat for treatment and signed all his paperwork. An effort was made to obtain all documents related to this incident, and those requests were initially denied. The hospital finally provided the patient sign in papers, and results from the x-ray. The sign in sheet had been amended by the hospital's office manager (Sylvia Hernandez) and there were no copies of results from any exams or blood work.

Probably the best shelter we've ever been to (and it's been a lot.) They returned our online…read moreapplication quickly and were very friendly to us on our journey to adopt, even offering condolences for our cat who passed away. We visited 3 times before we decided to adopt, and each time was a great experience filled with adorable, healthy cats and kind volunteers/workers. They also seemed to do a good job keeping the kennels clean, which we can't say about everywhere we visited. We are paying $200 for our newest kitten addition including vaccinations and sterilization, which I believe is fair. I loved this experience very much and would suggest this shelter to anyone looking to adopt a new friend.

I left a voicemail simply asking if there was a chance he had been brought here. Penny returned my call, and from the very beginning, she was incredibly rude and dismissive. Instead of showing even a little compassion, I was told, "Midway City is a bit far for a cat to walk," "Next pet you have, make sure you microchip them," and "He was probably eaten by a coyote or hit by a car." None of those comments were helpful, appropriate, or necessary. I wasn't looking for a lecture or worst-case scenarios--I was simply asking if there was a possibility my dad's missing cat had been brought in. When people call about a missing pet, they're already going through an incredibly stressful and emotional time. A little kindness and empathy go a long way. Unfortunately, that was completely lacking in this interaction. Do better.
