We couldn't be happier with our two kittens and are so grateful to the Seal Beach Animal Care Center for bringing them into our lives. All of the kittens are friendly, already spayed or neutered, and up to date on most of their vaccinations, which gave us even more peace of mind. Just a heads up--many of the negative reviews seem to come from people who are mad they didn't meet the standards. Was accused of rehoming her to my best friend so that she could be an outdoor cat (this is untrue. She was a cat that required a house, not an apartment). I kept having to remind several staff members that rehoming her was the last thing we wanted to do and that it was in her best interest. Not to mention the several staff members who kept constantly asking us the same questions over and over again to see if our story would change. But I digress... the women here need to learn better hospitality and lenience. I would cry myself to sleep every night praying for my dog Maggie's safe return. Thankfully my baby girl Maggie was microchipped. I was reunited with my dog Maggie around February of 2021 with the help of my best friend Nikki (who is starting a Boston Terrier rescue in Santa Rosa, California very soon) and with the help of a Boston Terrier rescue organization, such as Boston Buddies, Boston Terrier Rescue of Florida. Maggie was found under the same pier in Cocoa Beach where she disappeared. It was a miracle and I'll always be grateful for everyone that helped me get my baby back. Please always have your animals microchipped. If you lose your animal, always keep your microchip registration up to date, and please don't ever give up hope. Keep searching for your animal, don't let anyone talk you out of this important step in finding your furchild and being reunited once again. I am walking proof that miracles happen everyday! Please don't be confused, these organizations are all run by volunteers and these volunteers help these dear animals out of the kindness of their hearts. If you find it difficult to reach someone by contacting one of these organizations, just keep trying. If you need to surrender you dog, for any reason, please don't give up on trying to contact someone who will take your dog in for you. Please ask for a referral to another Boston Terrier organization, if you are looking to surround, or if you are looking to adopt, and you find that Boston Buddies is not able to assist you at that time. I am describing what I went through with finding Maggie, in order to help others who are suffering right now, and because I want to really put things into perspective for anyone who isn't aware of the truly painful and traumatic experiences that these animals have already experienced in their lifetimes, and yet they still find it in their little hearts to trust and love again. More than this, these brave souls, once adopted by us, often end up being a significant source of comfort to us, and at times, even our sole rock in this life. By showering us with unconditional love, acceptance, understanding, support, attention, and protecting us, we begin to see our lives improve for the better just by saving the lives of these animals in need. Not only will these adopted animals quickly come to trust, love, comfort, and accept us unconditionally, they have also been known to vigilantly watch over us and our family and give their own lives in order to save ours. Sadly, some individuals aren't able to care for their animals due to time constraints, lack of resources, perhaps that cannot afford the expensive veterinary costs associated with caring for an aging dog. Maybe they moved, welcomed a new addition to the family who was allergic, became disabled, or were perhaps elderly themselves, experiencing extreme fatigue, financial hardship, debilitating illnesses in their lives that make caring for an animal impossible for them to manage. Whatever the case may be, these animals, with so much love left to give, are often abandoned, surrendered to animal shelters, or surrendered to animal rescues. It's heart breaking to realize that some of these animals, such as Senior or disabled dogs, are rarely adopted out into a loving, supportive forever home at this stage in their lives. Non Profit Organizations, such as Boston Buddies, truly make the world a better place. They provide so many amazing and deserving animals with a warm, loving, caring, and comfortable place to stay, and by finding forever homes for these animals, where they can go to live in peace, joy, and happiness for the remainder of their lives. Boston Buddies also provides emergency veterinary care to the animals who come to be in their care, animals that might otherwise be euthanized, or much worse, left to suffer and die in excruciating pain. This had to be the worst experience by far at any of the four shelters i visited when a so called…read morefriend of mine asked me to watch his cat and seven kittens by just showing up with them and putting me on the spot knowing im a huge animal lover. So he saw me coming from a mile away and left them here but said only for a few hours and surprise surprise he never came back or answered his phone after that or replied to any of my texts. And as a matter of fact blocked me all together on fb. So i did what i had to do when i was left with no other choice but to look in to relinquishing them to a shelter. And it was tough because the first day after he brought them WITHOUT a cage and just brought the babies in a shoebox and momma he was holding in his arms with no food for momma. So he screwed me. And i had to do what i had to do. So i understood everywhere i went at first because the number 1 policy is that the person taking the animal or animals has to live in that city so the first three had a legitimate excuse but then i went to the appropriate one and my bad i forgot my ID ive never done this before so i didnt know there was such a process. And i went took the cats back home and got my ID went the next day with kittens ID ready to go because thats what they said that thats the only thing i would need to be helped there. And im there a different woman and the same one that was there the day before were now both at front desk and the one i hadnt seen the day before starts to ask for my ID and asks what i was doing and i look at the other one and i asked her if now i was going to be helped because i did what she said and the other one asked me what seemed like a TRICK QUESTION one that no matter how i answered would be the wrong answer and i knew i was there the day before so i said two days because i didnt want to lie and the girl says its $800. $100 for each cat because ive had them for two days so that made them legally my pets AND I WAS HOT BECAUSE FIRST OFF IM NOT A PIECE OF SHIT I WOULD NEVER TAKE ANY OF MY PETS TO A FUCKING SHELTER. I CARE FOR MY PETS THEIR MY FAMILY. So then i said because some guy abandoned them that made them mine really because i was there the day before but they didnt want to proceed even when i promised i would email a picture of my identification. So im trying to do the right thing and would it have been better if i left them at their door and one of the women immediately talks over me and takes a copy of my id without my permission and says she's going to use it and contact the authorities and say i abandoned my cats and its a felony and all of this with my dad sitting in a chair in the waiting room. Bonnie basically told me my situation doesn't matter and that I need to keep this cat because no one is going to adopt this cat(I thought help getting stray cats adopted was the whole point of their organization?). She kept repeating this so much and talking so much it was hard to get any of my words in or even to hang up. She told me even if I don't want to keep the cat, just lock the cat up in a room because cats don't need a lot of space. Uhhhhh is this really the best solution Pet Assistance can provide?
