Kindred Hospital was a fantastic rehabilitation stepping stone for wound care. the entire wound care team was fantastic and would talk through what they were doing and how. loved the weekly check in's with the whole team so you knew the next weeks game plan. All the staff departments listened to patients needs and concerns so patients felt heard. The nurses and CNA were all friendly and caring. read more

Care services? What 'care services'. My dad was in their care for months under a ventilator and all my family experienced was pain from the disorganization and improper care of him. Last week, we had to bring hospice in to ease him into passing. The Dr that came in that morning was a complete unprofessional, pushing my sister into getting the process started even as my father lay awake in the bed wondering what was going on. She told him she wanted to do it when my brother arrived; he seemed annoyed. Demanded my brothers phone number so that he could call. When it came to do it, they had expressed the way it would work was he would be given shots to put him to sleep and then when we were ready to have the ventilator taken out, they would do it then. Instead, they came in and gave him the shots and took the ventilator out immediately, without consultation. Afterwards, one of the nurses came in and gave him medicine which caused his face and hand to start twitching. Then he raised his arm...my sister called for a nurse and when the nurse; Adrian, came in, she said he was waking up. She (Adrian) told him she was changing his bandage and kept screaming for him to wake up. As she starts changing his bandage, my sister asked "You know that he's under hospice now right?" and she was fucking surprised. She had woken him up because she alleged no one had communicated to her that this was happening. She said she was under the impression that he was being transferred. So then, she continued to change his bandage as he was in pain...in the meantime, another nurse finally came in with the medicine, she said she had to do another IV because the one was leaking. It took her 20 minutes because she couldn't find a vein, ignored my sister as she asked if my dad (who was full awake at this point) was in pain. Finally she admitted she couldn't find a vein and ran to get another nurse. All the while, my family in that room traumatized and not sure what to say to my father who is awake, gasping for air and in excruciating pain. His name was John Cordell. And he was in THEIR care. They failed him and they failed us and my family and I are planning on seeking out the maximum extent of justice that we can from the law for what happened at this institution. Please, I beg you, do not allow these people to care for your loved ones because they won't. The room was filthy during his stay, at one point there was a roll of tape found in his bed underneath him. The remote for the television was constantly moved away from his reach. The nurses were annoyed at my families visitation. They strapped him down, which we understood because he kept pulling out his ventilator tube by accident, but didn't take care to ensure that the straps were not too tight and digging into his wrists. We were constantly made to feel as if we were intruding in visiting this place and in visiting our father. Possessions of his would go missing, presumably thrown away, by them. My brother had brought him a model car for decoration in his room and it was broken; the car was on the other side of my room and my father couldn't move on his own. His favorite blanket was thrown away. The only Dr that spoke to us with any amount of compassion was Dr Kilmer. My father passed in pain and we will never forget the trauma of the disorganization that happened that day. I hate this place and if you care for your loved ones, please do not let these people watch after them. read more

They are HORRIBLE, they basically let my grandfather just wither away slowly.. they never took care of him and didn't ever get anything done professionally.. if you care about your loved ones, PLEASE take them somewhere else. read more

My mother-in-law is at Kindred in downtown Chattanooga, TN. (January, 2019) It is not a good experience. In fact, we do not feel comfortable leaving her here alone, so for the past 10 days, we have had someone from the family here 24 hours a day. Some of the nurses, CNA's and respiratory therapists are fantastic, but there's a serious management issue: 1) Upon arrival, the room was dirty (bags not emptied, bathroom not clean, floor not mopped and horrific smell (which we later learned was the smell of infection). 2) I wrote to Kindred on their website to alert them of the issues, and although I received an automated response, I have not received answers to my questions/concerns in the last 10 days. I did wait a significant amount of time before posting this public review. 3) When alarms go off, frequently no one responds. I believe this is because they are short staffed. Also, a few individuals seem to be doing the majority of the work. Finally, folks do not seem to work as a team. "Not my job" was a phrase I heard just tonight when I approached the desk because 2 alarms were going off in my mother-in-law's room, and no one was responding. I strongly suggest that if you do not have a choice of facilities (as was the case for us with Military Tri-Care) that you plan to have someone stay with your family member at this facility to advocate for him/her, listen for alarms and other health indicators, flag help down when needed, and ensure that the room is cleaned properly. You do not want to leave your loved one alone at Kindred. read more

I have been in Kindred hospital in Chattanooga for 20 days. From the moment I was brought in the door, everyone was friendly and happy to see me. Their main concern is my comfort and well being. From the nursing manager, or as some would say director of nurses. Bruno.. He makes a point to meet you. From housekeeping to the top of the line in staff, you are treated like you are the only one that matters. They try to comfort and heal with the least pain as possible. They have many success stories. Many come back to visit. The food is delicious and they try so hard to make it very tasty. I highly recommend Kindred to anyone needing short term or long term care. Dr Brice and Jennifer are excellent in wound care. Dr Taylor in respiratory and their crew. And all that you may need. Laughter is great medicine and love blossoms from within. To heal your body. Check them out. You will be happy that you did. You will be coming back with a praise report. read more

A place to go to die. There is not much more I can say than that. It is like what I would imagine hospitals in the 60's and 70's were like. The thing that far outshines their need for equipment from this century, which is very strong, is the complete lack of hope on every employee's face and in their speech. read more

My uncle was sent to this facility on May 24th for respiratory therapy. They treated him like a hospice patient, and neglected to come to his aid when his alarms sounded. They spoke, in his and his sister's presence, as if they 'knew' he was going to die. He was not, I repeat, NOT PLACED AS A HOSPICE patient. They stated that they had better equipment for his respiratory issues, but it turned out they didn't...he died 25-26 hours into his stay. This is not the first relative we have lost to neglect at a Kindred facility. I think they should be shut down. DON'T LET YOUR LOVED ONES DIE THERE!!! read more

Any time I have visited Kindred Hospital I have noticed that everything is always so well put together and everything flows smoothly as possible upon admission! From the moment I walked in the lobby I noticed it always looks great with beautiful flowers and plenty of magazines to look at to pass the time, also offering hot fresh coffee as well! The wound care team, respiratory, case management, and therapy services all work together to help their patients recoup as quickly as possible by providing quality care and support for family members that are here visiting. Even if something wasn't going the way we thought it should administration was always quick to help and explain everything so that we were comfortable with the care we were receiving. Excellent nursing and floor staff with caring physicians during our stay! Could not be more thankful for all of the support and care of this friendly staff as a whole! read more
