Fantastic dinner at Kindred Spirits in Logan, Ohio! The restaurant is located in two log cabins that were built in the 1840s which offers a unique and charming dining experience. so sad to say we couldn't even dine here! we literally got engaged today (in the beautiful scenic hocking hills) and we had a reservation to celebrate at 7 PM. After driving for 35 minutes of winding roads in fog in the pitch black, we arrived at the restaurant for them to tell us that their stove hasn't been working all day but they could offer us salads or cheese... Extremely disappointing to say the least ...obviously these things do happen, but it felt extremely unprofessional that they wouldn't reach out to us and let us know beforehand that they couldn't serve us hot food especially this late at night in an environment like this! where it's dangerous to drive such a far distance so late at night.. anyways. was not impressed with that! and didn't love the way we were responded to when expressing that read more

Food is okay. Some of it is a bit lazy. The avocado toast is literally an entire avocado, not even smashed, with some everything seasoning and arugula on bread. I make better avocado toast at home. Came for dinner, and already had low expectations thanks to breakfast. I got the ribeye, it was very thin and a little over cooked. The butter on top was really good. My boyfriend got a Caesar salad and it had a whole anchovy fish in it. I know that Caesar salad usually has anchovy PASTE but not the entire fish sliced up. It was really gross and the smell was over bearing. I just feel like this place tried too hard in being different and missed the mark. Also, the sides are announced and the desserts. They don't have a menu for these. Again, lazy. Overall, the service was really good and we loved our stay at the cabin! But for food options, I recommend going to Logan for the BBQ @ Millstone. Quaint log cabin built in the 1880's that has been added onto and adjusted into this country style restaurant. Part of the Inn and Spa experience, the restaurant here is open to the public. You kind of gotta watch your head as you walk in through the small kitchen and into the dining areas. It was sunny but cold outside and the atmosphere in the restaurant warmed you right up. The breakfast menu was short, but covered all the basics. Todays muffin was lemon blueberry and it complimented my bacon and egg breakfast perfectly. First time at the restaurant for a 20th anniversary dinner. Ambience was nice, people were very friendly and cocktails was great. When it came to be ordering food, we ordered cajun crab on toast that was wonderful, I ordered the bass which was slightly overcooked and the husband ordered a medium rare ribeye. When we received our meals I had my husbands veggies on my plate as he had mine. The ribeye was rare and tasteless. We waited about an hour for our food as we found out from our waiter that they had 1st overcooked the ribeye then remade which we can appreciate, but should've been priority over other tables being served quickly. They did comp us on cocktails without us needing us to say anything. Could've been a bad night for the kitchen, who knows. read more

This is a beautiful little restaurant where they take great care with food allergies - be sure when making a reservation to let them know your allergies. The ambiance is nice and the decor is rustic and cute - you can actually have a conversation and hear each other. The dress code is casual. Our waitress was Rachael and she was amazing. She was very kind and accommodating, and studied my food allergies before I even got there, which was impressive. She was also fun and upbeat. The food was absolutely amazing. I had the special of the day which was scallops. They were tender and cooked to perfection. For the sides I had broccolini and the spicy cabbage and carrots. We were here for dinner on our hiking day, stayed at their cottage, just a stair away, we could easily reach the restaurant! It's looks small from outside, but inside, it's actually have several rooms! On a Wednesday night, still quite some guest dining here. This is definitely a popular place around the park! Our best meals in Logan took place at Kindred Spirits. We had dinner and breakfast here, and both meals were great. We got the maple bourbon glazed salmon for dinner, which came with a choice of two sides. I chose broccoli and mashed potatoes. The salmon was flaky and tender, and the sauce was sweet and made from local syrup. The salmon was so good that I was able to convince my child to eat some -- a child who doesn't eat salmon -- and he liked it a lot! He ate several bites. I wasn't even mad that he was eating my meal. The children's menu is small, but both of my children found things they wanted: a pb&j sandwich and chicken tenders. They come with a side (they chose potato chips). Dessert was a berry crumble with vanilla ice cream, and a flourless chocolate cake with ice cream. (Yes, we got two desserts!) With the fabulous dinner and dessert, and the white wine sangria that I ordered, I was a happy camper. The next day we had breakfast at Kindred Spirits, because we were staying at The Inn at Cedar Point and breakfast is included with your stay. We got a full breakfast, which included coffee, yogurt, housemade granola, fruit, and a breakfast entree. I got two eggs, potatoes, bacon and toast. It was all great and filling. They even send you on your way with a to-go cup of coffee. Reservations are recommended right now for both breakfast and dinner, because they are trying to space seating and control the number of people to help with social distancing. We celebrated my husband's 30th birthday here back in November and had a good time. The restaurant is quaint & cozy which was exactly the vibe we were looking for. Service was a tad slow, however the waitress was super sweet and we weren't in a hurry to begin with, so this wasn't an issue for us. The food was a bit pricey for what we received. The steak my husband had was pretty good, but for the price, we probably wouldn't order again. Same story for the scallops, they were ok. Definitely overcooked and didn't have the nice sear I was looking for, and to be fair, I've had a lot of really amazing scallops so my bar is pretty high. I wouldn't order them again, especially for the price. We'd definitely return but probably opt for different dishes rather than the most expensive ones on the menu that just honestly weren't really worth the price tag. read more

This was such an unexpected find. Was brought here by my partner who planned a birthday weekend for me. This place has such an up scale feeling like I'm somewhere in the mountains when I'm inside. The service was very friendly and well versed on the menu. Our server seated us and was working so hard. And the food was so good! I had a Buffalo chicken soup, I will admit that the soup was too heavy for me. It felt more like a dip. It had a great smokey gouda flavor and huge chunks of chicken. Although we had made a reservation weeks prior, we were seated on the back enclosed patio area. It was cold, awkwardly quiet, and had no ambiance at all. It was totally different than the cozy, warm interior of the dining room. We felt like we had been banished to the back room. We felt so rushed the entire meal. The waiter asked us if we wanted to hear about the desserts when we had just started eating our entrees. He never asked us if we wanted another round of drinks or coffees. We dined here for dinner based on recommendations from the cabin owners we rented from. We were in Hocking Hills for a 2 night getaway hiking trip. Really wanted to love this place. We were there on a Sunday night and it was very quiet. We were the only table seated in the one dining room space we were in. Service was very slow and inattentive. I think our server was new or training as she seemed unsure about menu items and did not know the price of the featured specials. (FYI Scallops special was $50 - very high IMO). The food was inconsistent. I think I read another review that described it as lazy - which I thought was apt. My husband had the porkchop, "spicy" potatoes and broccolini. Pork chop was very good but the potatoes really were not spicy at all unless you mean salt, pepper and garlic. I ordered the Sun-dried tomato pasta dish off the menu. I hate to say this but this was the worst meal I've ever had in a restaurant. It was lazy. Literally was pasta, in a soupy bland watery cream colored liquid and sundried tomatoes mixed in with some chopped parsley and what looked like bagged shredded parmesan cheese on top. I say this because the cheese was too uniform to be fresh grated. The menu described this as a creamy sundried tomato sauce with pasta. It tasted like the most bland mystery liquid, that they dumped the pasta into and dumped a jar of sundried tomatoes in as well and then served it up. $29 for that entree. The server eventually returned at the end of the meal ( we had to flag down the hostess to find our server because we sat after finishing eating and waited so long) The server noticed I'd only eaten a quarter of my meal and I told her why. After inquiring if we wanted dessert, she asked if we were ready for our check, which we were. All she said was "I'll let the kitchen know about your meal and would you like a box to take it home." LOL. This place is a very quaint and cozy log cabin. Based on social media and other hype, we had high hopes for a special dinner and also high expectations based on the price. Maybe it hits the mark for breakfast or lunch but dinner was definitely not a good experience. read more

MAKE RESERVATIONS or you will miss out on a great dining opportunity. Dinner: ribeye steak with sweet potatoes and green beans. As luck would have it the 18 oz. Ribeye was available. It was raised by local 4H groups which had just been shown at the fair. Not exaggerating, it was melt in your mouth. Topped with garlic butter, nothing more needed. Cooked to perfection. Sides were equally as good. Ate every single bit of it. The red wine blend was a very good pour and great pairing. Our waitress, Justine, provided great service. CON: seating can be tricky as they have separate rooms. It can feel warm and cozy or cool and isolating. We were seated in the first room right by entrance. Lots of traffic and noise, but not awful. Breakfast: best breakfast sandwich. Crispy bacon, over not to hard egg with lettuce & tomato on toasted sourdough bread. A side of Just the right amount of real fried potatoes. Very good. If you stay at the inn breakfast is complimentary. CON: IT took 30 minutes for our order to arrive. Glad we were in no hurry and were enjoying our coffee & conversation. So for my husband and I both to say that the meals we had here were the best we've ever eaten at a restaurant is definitely saying something! We stayed at a yurt at Cedar Falls in January, and solely ended up eating here because it was within walking distance. What a happy accident!! It's a cute little log cabin, and when you walk into it it's warm, cozy, inviting, and smells amazing! They have a well stocked bar and you can see into a small, clean kitchen. It was pretty quiet the night we were there, and we were seated immediately. I ordered one of their drink specials, a Stonefruit Sidecar, and my husband ordered bourbon. The sidecar was so delicious we ended up buying the Ohio distilled Oyo Stonefruit vodka on the way home just so we could recreate it. To be honest, since it's been a few months I don't even remember if we got an appetizer, because the real stars of the show were the entrees. I would up getting the special, the browned butter scallops with garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. I don't even particularly like green beans but theirs were so good I ate them all! Now, after watching even an episode of Hell's Kitchen everyone knows how particular Gordon Ramsay is about scallops. I've had the scallops at one of his restaurants in Vegas, and these brown butter scallops blew his out of the water. My husband got the grilled porkchop with compote, rice medley and broccoli. I cannot even emphasize how well these dishes were cooked and seasoned. For dessert, we had the browned butter cake. It was also extraordinary delicious, and smelled so good I didn't even manage to take a picture before digging in. If you do one thing in the Hocking area, it should be eating here.
