The competitors are currently offering 5 gigs for less than $100 / month. There is no phone call to warn you or an official statement that they are changing the agreed-upon price. My husband spent 7 straight days attempting to get an answer when our fiber line was cut. If I could rate less than a 1, I would. We have dealt with their customer service on 4 different occasions and only get the runaround and scripted answers every single time. I called to make sure there's a technician coming out to take a look like they said they would and they said oh there's an outage in your area so there's no technician coming to take a look at your specific house which is not what they told me. They said they would send a technician to my home then I to cancel with kinetic because they've been so difficult and unhelpful that I'd rather just not have their Wi-Fi and they had me on hold for almost 30 minutes. So I switched to these guys after being overpriced from Xfinity and Verizon Yanko, my chain that their home Internet service would work for my ZIP Code in Richmond. I tried kinetic because of the fiber optic hardware option. It lasted about a month and then started going out. It's been down now for about two weeks. I called at the beginning of the week to schedule someone to come out Friday morning which is a work from home day for me. They were such a ride between 8 and 10 AM. However, later on I got a text message saying that they had made a mistake and assigned our request to the Texarkana region and I might get somebody in the afternoon overall another continuing trend of unresponsive, Internet provider, these guys basically just want to flip each other's counts sign you up, and then you become just a number, maybe AT&T will work? read more

If you are not going to do a satisfactory job, then don't do it at all. This is ridiculous. They did not put new grass everywhere that needed. They chose the the few spots they wanted to install it, still leaving many muddy areas destroyed by the initial digging and and burial of the new cable. The new grass died within a week, even with me watering it everyday. Also my neighbors drive was half completed and that half was still not done correctly (you can see the black barrier just sticking out. How are you only going to approve half of his damaged driveway. MAKES NO SENSE! Please come back out and redo all the areas that need new grass and fix my neighbors driveway properly. read more

I have been a Windstream customer for over 35 year's and I can honestly say their service has hit rock bottom in every way possible. For the pastvthree months I have had nothing but issues. First my internet would not stay connected and after three technicians came out and could not fix it i just went and got my internet through another provider. After that now my phone service is messed up. My voice mail dose not work at all on my second ticket to get it repaired. When I call customer service I can't understand half the people that answer the phone and you can tell they don't even care. I really don't know what has happened to this company but it's ashame they have hit a all time low in every aspect. Looks like I'll be looking for a new home phone service as well. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Called on 7/29/24 to report an outage and was told it would be 10 days before a technician could come out. Seven days later, I received an email that my service ticket was AUTOMATICALLY canceled because there was a system wide outage in my area. The system wide outage did NOT affect me because my fiber optic cable was BROKEN from the poor installation job where they drilled holes in my foundation to attempt to secure the cable. I have been client from Kinetic by Windstream for 18 years. On November I call and ask them to cancel my Service starting January 31th Because I Will be Moving From My Residence. For the last two weeks of January, I didn't have internet service at all and even when I call many times to remember them to close my account starting January 31 they didn't return me the service. As I have been continued receiving emails from them, today I called them (February 5th) to confirm that they closed my account on January 31 as I requested since November; however they say my account is active and they are still charging me when I am out since January 31 ‍ and without modem, because I already sent it to them ‍ So today they say my account will be closed until tomorrow after 7 PM. Now they are not only going to charge me for two weeks of January that I had no service but for a week in February when the residence has not even the modem. I never changed my service in 18 years because even when it was not good service, the complex where I lived has not other option and most of the things in which I needed the Internet I used at work or my own network. Had a service tech come out to check the system over never came to the door just called and said your good to go. 4 days after the internet dropped so I requested a service tech and was told it will be 10 days for them to come out. 10th. Day now and no show, Called again and was told the ticket was closed there's no problem with our service. After explaining we still have no service they opened another service ticket and stated a tech would be here in 7 days. I explained my daughter does online schooling and they said it would be expedited but that never happened. Had a problem with connectivity, which is a common issue with windtream, and the tech couldn't fix my issue so enstead without asking or telling me he down graded my service to 100 mbps. No offers for a different package. No apologies. Just lied and said it was fixed. Then I call their low IQ customer service and they tried to tell be that 100 is all that is offered in my area. But the moment you're a couple days late during a PANDEMIC they're quick to turn off your service! And then charge an extra $35 to turn it back on!! We live in Sugar Land, TX. On Monday (07/10), we received the text notifying that Internet service would be down for few hours, and then another text that it won't be fixed until next day (07/11), and then another text that it won't be fixed until next day (07/12) , and then another text that it won't be fixed until next day (07/13). We called and was told that the Internet service is now fixed but still not working for us. They would send someone come by in the afternoon. We called again around 4 and was told someone would come by 6 PM. We called again by 7 PM and was told that it would delay to next day. No one called us back, but the service was up after we tried to fix it ourselves. We badly need the Internet for work and school. Luckily, I have Verizon hotspot for work w/ whole day meetings but have to pay about $100 more after running out of data usage. Our kids have to live in coffee shops for those days. The Kinetic service is terrible. They advertise 'Fast, reliable Internet Service', but this is just a joke. read more

I used Windstream Kinetic internet service for about three years. It was pretty good and I was a satisfied customer. Then, about a week ago, my internet connection started to drop out. Sometimes it would last a few minutes and sometimes it lasted an hour or more. I had to restart the DSL modem numerous times. At first, I thought it was a weather-related problem so I endured the inconvenience for a couple of days. I finally called customer service and they said it would take a couple days before a technician could come out. Meanwhile, the service interruptions became more frequent and sometimes lasted several hours. The technician arrived, swapped out the modem with a new one, and there was no improvement. He said that Windstream was not properly provisioning the modem, it was a problem on their end and it would be resolved by the end of the day. He promised to call back and give me an update but he didn't. The next day, my internet was still down so I called tech support. They told me the previous ticket has been closed and they would open a new one and send a technician to my house again in FIVE days. Out of frustration, I called the other provider (starts with a "C") and within three hours I had internet again and that includes the time it took to drive to Best Buy to buy a cable modem When Windstream internet works it works well but pray you never have a problem because their customer support is terrible. read more

We've been stuck with Windstream for several years because they were one of the only internet services in our neighborhood. The service has been adequate, but nothing more. Recently we were noticing slower speeds than usual, and all of us are working from home. After a service call at the house, our service went out completely. We were having to reset the modem every 32 minutes. After a full week, they finally discovered that the problem was at their end, not ours. New IP address, and I'm finally able to teach my students from home instead of having to go to an empty classroom every day. Their customer service SUCKS!!!! read more

I am being forced to use Kinetic/Windstream for my mom's phone service in assisted living. Windstream will quote you a low price when activating your phone but then each month the bill is at least $25 more than the quote. they chalk it up to taxes and services fees....it's ridiculous! My mom has memory loss issues and can't make an outgoing call, she can only receive calls and her bill is $55 per month! The worst customer service EVER! They cannot get better than 16mb connection to us but charge for top tier. in a city no less. Have to use a VPN or they throttle certain web traffic. Their uptime is about 70%. Their service techs have no clue what they are doing, one tech installed a line and terminated the line where it fed power into the data lines frying a $1200 modem. Sadly its the only internet provider for the entire area. Customer service reps are retarded and rude. Fucking monopolist shit all around. If you can use any other company do so. read more
