If you're looking for a massage where the staff serves you organic cucumber water and specially created aromatherapy oils that are based on your zodiac sign, then this is not the place for you. However, if you're looking for a therapeutic massage to be healed, then you're in the right place. Kinetik Performance particularly services athletes by offering acupuncture, rehab, massage, and physical therapy. My masseuse moved out of state, so I put off finding another massage therapist until my neck and shoulders were screaming at me. My breaking point came when my neck pain was interfering with my sleep, so I was ready to pretty much pay anything to make the pain go away. I found Kinetik Performance on Yelp and making an appointment was easy since they use MindBody for scheduling. I was able to book a next day appointment with Jeffrey Lacson, and I'm so glad I did! The business is in a business park, and it's easy to get to from the freeway. It's by the Kearny Mesa SD courthouse if you're familiar with that. Parking was easy too. There isn't a receptionist up front greeting you. There is a bench where you can wait for Jeffrey if he's not done with a session. Jeffrey is super nice and begins the session by asking about what's bothering you. He examined by posture and it was clear from the beginning that he's very knowledgeable about the body. The massage room is clean, and there is dim lighting and zen music, but that's where the similarities end with the other massages I've had. Jeffrey focused primarily on the areas that were causing me pain. He does not use massage oil/lotion, which is similar to some other massage therapists I've been to before because it allows him to better feel what's going on underneath. Don't be scared though because it doesn't feel like he's giving you an Indian burn since he knows what he's doing. He will also utilize stretches while massaging you, which I loved. After the massage, he asks you for feedback and he also gave me some stretching tips. More importantly, I could move my neck that same night without pain! Unlike some other massages I've had before, I didn't feel "beat up" the next day either. He takes credit cards and he charges a flat $80. No tips are accepted, so you don't have to worry about tipping. I'd rather pay a bit more than go to a $50 Groupon place where I'm not sure what I'm getting. About a week after my massage, he followed up to see how I was feeling without any pressure of booking another session. I've never had a massage therapist do that before and I've been to some high end spas. It goes to show that he really cares about his clients. I would definitely recommend Jeffrey if you're looking for a therapeutic massage to help you feel better! read more

I cannot say enough good things about the team at Kinetik. I first learned about them in 2019 at a 5k where an acute shoulder injury provoked me to visit their tent at the race. Sorry i cannot give 10 stars. I had a strange myo-fascial hip pain involving both my adductors and hip flexors and IT band, beginning in May that got so bad i could not walk even ten minutes without really bad pain. 5 months later, Ian, the fabulous orthopedic acupuncturist at Kinetek, who knocked my sciatic pain out in one treatment, and has helped me many times in the past, sent me to Jonathan, who, together with Ian's acupuncture treatments, got me back to my normal walking in 3 visits... Ian is a fabulous acupuncturist who teaches Orthopedics at both the acupuncture school and in a Sports Acupuncture certification program. Jonathan is a freak of nature in the best of ways. What i mean by that is that he knows his anatomy in ridiculously minute detail, including the fascial sheaths, and has creative ways of correcting gait, and opening up old ligamentous injuries...The ART that he does is only part of what he does, i have had ART before, and it was great, but what Jonathan brings to the table goes way beyond that.... Jeffrey is my go to!! He is magic when it comes to healing your body. I am a hairdresser and LOVE my career but I have been standing on my feet for 20+ years so my lower back pain and shoulder pain is intense. I learned some unusual but extraordinary core strengthening exercises and movements from Ben. He is a highly motivating and fun spirited instructor without seeming intimidating at all. I appreciate how attentive he is throughout the session. When I usually do core workouts, I have low back pain and tension on my upper body. However, these exercises that Ben taught have really helped ease tension in my lower back, and I felt more energized after the workouts. Ben also incorporated some fascial stretches and spinal decompressions to improve my performance. After the workout, a massage from Jeff really topped it off. He is not your ordinary massage therapist. Jeff has an amazing and healing touch. He is strong, but his pressure eases in slowly in time for your muscle to release. During the workout with Ben, I noticed that my trapezius and shoulders were so tense. Jeff performed a trap peel, and I'd like to describe it as ironing out the tension. It pulled my ears away from my shoulders. I felt like I could breathe again! read more

Paolo and Tyler have gone above and beyond in the sessions I've had with them. Paolo is extremely knowledgeable from both an athletic and strength standpoint. In my few sessions working with him he was able to correct my running form and pinpoint my weak points. From his assessment he pointed out a weak oblique and weak hip flexor, then built corrective exercises around it. Tyler is equally knowledgeable and well versed. He was able to use his knowledge and assist from a mobility standpoint. My previous view on stretching was moving as far as I can, Tyler helped build a routine that allowed me to strengthen muscles in those new positions. read more

I've been seeing Ben once a week for almost 5 months for injury rehabilitation after discovering I have L5/S1 degenerative disc issues. I wanted to get back into lightweight lifting without injuring myself further and a friend recommended Ben at Kinetik. He introduced me to ELDOA stretches and they have changed my world. We've also been working on correct posture for lifting to strengthen my back. After well over a year of not lifting, I can get back to it. I've learned so much from him! I've been working with Ben Kleinert for almost three years now and he has completely changed my life. I had a debilitating neck injury and was overall weak and out of shape when I first starting seeing him. Ian Campbell is outstanding! I was referred to him and am glad I was. I've got several broken fingers and couldn't be more impressed with his knowledge. He did acupuncture on my fingers and back. He then used laser to get the scar tissue out. And finally he really a device to try and scrape the scar tissue out. It was painful but worked better than my certified hand therapist. First, let me start off by explaining the insidious pain I have carried with me for years. My left shoulder especially but as well as my right shoulder and my right leg/ankle. I don't know how my body became so misaligned other than improper technique and ego lifting and not researching the proper modalities. During the increase in daily physical pain I reached out to countless, more than 12 different chiropractic offices and the like, and dumped thousands of dollars into their technique that they prescribed: Yes, to a very short lasting affect It did relieve immediate pain, but it always came back. Now let's move on to finally making the jump and coming to Jonathan Pierce. I'm almost at a loss for words because I truly believed I was beyond help and thought I was going to have to live with this deep pain in my body for the rest of my life. For the past few months I have had the pleasure of training with Paolo. His sessions are challenging and worth it because of the results I'm getting. Before training with Paolo, I would experience pain in my back and / or legs after working out. Paolo has corrected my form and movement so I no longer experience this pain. Now I have more confidence in the gym than I ever have. I'm amazed by Paolo's knowledge and ability to pinpoint and alleviate my pain.
