I came in with some persistent back pack a while back and did the intro program for about 7 weeks and added on a few more classes to keep up with the program. I was tired of going to chiropractors, and wanted to get to the root of the problem. My main intentions were to fix the back pain and also get started with doing some animal flow type workouts. I felt so welcomed and taken care of the moment I stepped in. Andy and Ryan spent the first session asking questions, diagnosing, running through movements with my body, and even stayed a little later to answer some additional questions. The group classes are a 1:4 teacher to student ratio, but oftentimes both are there anyways to assist! They really focus on targeting all the right muscle groups, and making sure that you have the proper form in the exercises. They really helped me understand and listen to my body, and know how to address issues as they come up. I started training with Andy after a back injury. He has really helped me understand what exercises I need to be doing and showing me exactly how to do them properly. The gym is very clean and well equipped. I started with private lessons and moved into small group classes after 6 weeks. Andy is a magician! I was having chronic thoracic back pain for more than 6 months (I suspect this was self inflicted from lifting too heavy at the gym) and nobody could help fully alleviate the pain I was having. I had fracture my tibia and fibula 2 years ago and still deal with ankle and knee pain. This place is legit, and Andy knows his stuff! I've been to a sports physical therapist, a personal trainer and a podiatrist to assess ankle issues, knee issues and lower back tightness. I got some advice on stretching exercises to do and general strengthening exercises. But I didn't feel it helped much. I made an appointment with Andy because I liked his philosophy on health. I just wanted to move better and be less injury prone. Within one session, Andy was able to assess why my muscles were tight, why certain ones weren't activating and reset my body to function properly! Just to capture the whole experience I have to share the meet and greet... Walking with my family while enjoying the La Jolla farmers market I was fortunate to meet Andy. I explained a old back injury that seemed to be re-aggravated while on recent plane ride. In a matter of minutes and some small short movements Andy was able to recommend some treatment that he would be able to do. My personal trainer at Equinox recommended Andy as I was having lower back issues that persisted for a long time, and Andy is well known even during his Equinox days among the personal trainers as the guy who knows his stuff around injury and rehabilitation. I happened to have a trip to San Diego planned and immediately scheduled a session with Andy. Andy performed a very thorough set of muscle testing to identify the particular issues with my lower back. In addition, he pinpointed some weakness at my left ankle that was causing movement issues. It was very obvious within the first ten minutes that Andy is someone who is very knowledgeable about muscle kinetics and movement and is very geniune in helping people out. Our session went so well that I booked two more during my stay in San Diego.
