    Cream Cheese rolls

Haven't been here since it was in Minneapolis, it was just a ls great as it ever was! Service was outstanding and the restaurant was super clean. We were very happy with the quality of the food with one small exception. The noodles for the pad Thai were undercooked, I'm guessing because it was near closing time and they were rushing a bit. Other than that, the holy basil stir fry was so damn good, spiced just right! I love that they do cream cheese rolls instead of puffs/wontons. I feel like you get more cream cheese. The satay was some of the best we've had, tender yet crispy on the outside. And the sauce was drinkable. Great experience!

Raad na, made vegan ($13). Pretty good. Nicely done.

I used to go to the lovely original King and I Thai on LaSalle many years ago; it was in the garden level basement of an historic building and had a cozy bar and nice outdoor seating. This was my first time trying their new suburban stripmall incarnation and, while it's not even a tenth as cool as the original spot, the food is still good and they helpfully label all their vegan or veganizable options. The vegetarian egg roll ($7) is vegan by default and consists of two really large, deep-fried marvels. I enjoyed these a lot. The holy basil stir fry can be made vegan ($16) and has a deeply savory and spicy sauce with chewy-meaty fried tofu and mushrooms. I liked this dish and appreciated the complexity of the sauce. The raad na ($13) can be made vegan and the sauce is thick and tasty without being gloopy. I wish it had more preserved soy beans and Chinese broccoli, but it still tasted great. King and I makes some of the best Thai food in the Twin Cities. It's a shame it's so isolated in Mendota Heights. If you want similarly delicious and vegan-friendly Thai food closer-in, check out Amazing Thailand or Sen Yai Sen Lek in Minneapolis; Bangkok Thai Deli in St. Paul is also an authentic hole-in-the-wall that caters to vegans.

Nice Asian art, and quiet dining room. The furniture is old, and some of it is damaged. The table was wiped down, but not well enough to remove sticky splotches from previous diners. We had the vegetarian spring roll, which was decent. The peanut sauce was warm and flavorful. Excellent. Our entrées were disappointing... the Raad Na noodle dish was drowning in sauce, with mediocre/bland chicken. The noodles themselves were decent, but everything else about the plate was sub par. The green curry was very watery... I couldn't detect any coconut milk or flavor. The vegetables were average quality. The mock duck was terrible, and was one of the more expensive protein add-ons. If you're going to carry a mock-meat protein, at least present something tasty. This mock duck tasted overwhelmingly like soybeans. Service was decent.

Sometimes I find that on Yelp the reviews/ratings are inflated, but this place definitely deserves the 5 stars. The ingredients were so fresh! My go to anytime I try a new Thai restaurant is panang curry with tofu, which allows me to compare "apples to apples" so to speak (and also it's my favorite.) This was literally among my top 5 places of all time. The ambiance is nice, the service was quick. I tried a few of my companions' dishes and they were also delicious. I have previously felt that I didn't care for bamboo shoots, but the ones that were in a soup were so fresh and the soup was well-balanced. Highly recommend!

It was advertised very different from the way it was in reality. described as sweet coconut tempura battered. It was actually frozen shrimp from a restaurant supply house. The ginger stirfry had no taste and was predominantly broccoli. The crab fried rice was bland. They didn't have peppers on the table that we could add for but would expect the chef to prepare it that it's tasty right out of the kitchen. I don't plan to go back.

With two locations that are both consistently amazing, I've never had a single subpar experience. The restaurants are clean, simple and have great service. One thing I really appreciate is how clearly they label gluten-free and vegetarian options. The menu is packed with choices for different dietary restrictions. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted and full of bold, authentic flavor. My go-to favorites are the pad thai, green curry, drunken noodles, Thai fried rice, yellow curry, and the spring rolls, they truly never miss. If you're new to Thai food, you can't go wrong starting with the pad thai and fried rice. If you like a little spice and depth of flavor, definitely add a curry to the mix. The portions are generous (perfect for sharing), and everything is consistently fresh and delicious. I can't recommend Coconut Thai enough!

I've tried numerous menu items, including their Laab, Pad-ga-pow, mango salad, pineapple curry, pad Thai and Prik Prik Moo Grop. There's another dish I've tried there that seems it's no longer on their menu but it was a curry seafood dish served in an actual coconut. It was amazing! My favorites so far are the mango salad and pad Thai. The #70 Moo Grop dish is a close one for top picks but my only complaint is the pork chunks weren't my preferred texture. The sauce, however, is a show stealer. I could literally drink it! It's that good. I've personally never had a negative eating experience with Ons but my husband did complain to me about their pineapple curry. He orders his food at the spiciest level, and I only ever tried a bite of his, but he thought it was very sour and tasted pickely. It was not the best curry I've had but I didn't think it was bad. I'm a seasoned Thai food eater - it's basically all I eat. So I've tried all of the Thai spots in the twin cities. On's is sitting in my top two. I've never eaten inside the restaurant so I can't say much for the service, but I have been in the restaurant to pick up orders and there isn't much to say for its ambiance. It's a very casual setting. My only complaint about Ons is that they serve their curry in shallow containers which makes for smaller portions. If they served their curry in soup containers and gave larger portions, they'd be my go-to spot every time. Right now, my other favorite Thai spot has them beat on curry portions. But that doesn't stop me from coming back for other menu items.

We went before a show at the Amsterdam bar. It wasn't busy when we arrived, but the restaurant did fill in so it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a reservation if there's an event going on at the grand casino arena (formerly xcel energy center) because I could definitely see it getting busy! Their menu is clearly labeled with what's vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, and gluten-free. The staff were also knowledgeable and able to answer questions about the menu items! The decor is very cute, and there are definitely good photo ops in the restaurant when it's not too busy! As for the food: The mango sticky rice is good and a shareable portion! I have no complaints there! I ordered pad see ew as well with medium spice, which is my go-to spice level when trying a new restaurant. I really didn't notice any spice, so I would order it spicier in the future! Tofu was my protein of choice, and their tofu was very crispy which I enjoyed! There were fewer vegetables than in the pad see ew at other places (no carrots or Chinese broccoli, just regular broccoli), and it is a smaller serving size compared to some of my favorite dishes places! With that being said, I did enjoy it overall and would come back next time I'm in the area! I would try ordering with a higher level of spice and maybe try a different entree next time!
