I called a few shops that said they took walk ins and they were all booked for the day at 9am. I called fancy cuts and Yen answered and invited me to come on over. Now it's in a shopping plaza and it's not a fancy place by any means. The last time I went to super cuts/famous Sam's or even the last high end places left me sad and upset. So as I walk in and see a barber cutting a kids hair and no one else in the shop I got a lil worried. Then came from the back and was not what I expected compared to boujee shops I've been to lately. I asked her if she could cut dry and she assured me she could. I showed her photos and she immediately said she understood the assignment. I was already in the chair and I just closed my eyes and began to pray. Can you imagine my surprise when I opened my eyes and the excess hair was gone, my hair had movement, and it was so stinking cute!!!! the best part is the haircut was 25 bucks!!!! They have a loyalty rewards program so you get a stamp everytime you go and then a free cut. I have found my diamond in the rough, yen is my new bff and I will continue to see her. The amount of compliments I have gotten in the last 24 hours is freaking crazy! Go see her for a haircut but not too often cause I'll need to get in every so often

I will admit that I am THE PICKIEST person when it comes to choosing someone to cut my hair, because I hardly ever want to cut it, but I'm also THE CHEAPEST. (which almost never goes hand in hand LOL) I've paid the highs and lows for cuts, and I definitely have had my share of horror stories!!! Luckily, this is not one of them: Emily Thai has her own little room and the rest of the place is a nail/waxing salon. I think she's the only hairstylist there, so I'm sure she has her work cut out for her, but she's pretty fast. I went in and told Emily that I wanted 1/2 an inch off (because I know that usually means 1-2inches in stylist terms), and I was kind of thankful I said that. Emily knows how to maintain the overall length of the hair, but I think because my ends were in bad shape, she tended to cut a lot of shorter layers throughout. Luckily, I'm a fan of layers, so that didn't bother me much (other than the fact that layers make braids look gross, and the side braid is my go-to bad hair day fix up, so if I could take -0.5 stars off for that, I might have lol). BUT If you love layers, which do make great curls/waves (my favorite good hair day style) then EMILY IS YOUR GAL!!! so +0.5 stars for that. I will admit that Emily knows her stuff...my hair felt healthier as soon as I walked out. She added dimension and oomph, without sacrificing the overall length, which would have been a NO NO in my book. The lady after me even said she wanted her hair cut like mine...so that was all the validation I needed. I recommend her to anyone, but if you're not a fan of layers, I would just tell her that upfront. Not to mention, I did have preexisting layers that were probably just stale in her eyes lol; it's my fault that I didn't let her know that I was hoping to eventually grow them out, but she did so well that I can't complain! I will definitely be back, and for $15 it's a guilt-free part from dead ends and a happy ending! Enough of my rambling....go get your hair cut by Emily!

I have been going to her for years then I started letting my hair grow out, and I started having a ponytail so today I went in there haven't seen her in a while and wanted just to cut all the dead ends off it was only about 2 inches took about six minutes and the girl asked Kelly and Kelly said to charge me $20. I could not believe it as much business as I've given Kelly as long as I have known her, I could not believe she charged me $20 like I say all they did was cut the dead ends straight. which was barely 2 inches. A few weeks ago, after reading the reviews and having been familiar with the Frederic Fekkai…read moresalons, I came for a 1" trim to my long-time, blunt-cut, medium-length (3 inches below the chin), slightly angled bob, beveled a bit underneath at the nape. It was quickly dried and styled in center or side parts, with lots of volume, lift and swing. Elegant and easy. Derek said he couldn't understand me. I should have left immediately. What I have now is an inexplicable cut, 2-5 " off, barely chin length, huge amounts of hair removed, wispy layers everywhere, and texturizing. He has activated a mass of waves and curls never seen before. From the front, the shape is a cartoonish wide diamond. From the sides, a fat wedge. This is the opposite of what is required for copious, European, fine, porous hair with a nape curl and minimal wave. Derek basically has created a White girl Afro. He somehow dried it beautifully, disguising the weird architectural structure by using a tiny brush on myriad narrow strands, drying them straight, and contorting them via elaborate manual sculpting techniques, product and nearly an hour of work. Maybe he planned to do twice-weekly blowdries on it. I have spent many days and dollars elsewhere experimenting with product, techniques and professional advice while attempting to cope. Derek pleasantly refunded the charges and apologized for the "inconvenience." This is far worse than inconvenient.
