My son decided that he wanted to take a few inches of his off. We were fortunate to have Lady Tea as his stylist. She was extremely sweet and that's how we learned about the history of the shop. My husband also had an appointment for a wash, retwist, and style for his locs. There is no reason why it took almost 12 hours. There was only one girl in the shop certified to do it but when other stylists asked if she wanted help, she refused. 2 months later, here I am untwisting his hair for his next appointment (not with her I may add). I noticed that his two strand twists are all in different directions. Some of the stands are 3 strand twists and a lot of his "underneath" hair looks like it wasn't parted. I am being extremely generous with the 3 stars because I know they are up and coming and definitely have room for improvement. What I will say is that the entire time, they offered my son snacks and constantly checked on him while dad was sitting in the chair. I'll take my son back for a haircut but hesitant on any other service if it's not done by Lady Tea herself.

The stylists create a safe space and make the kids (including my daughter) feel super comfortable while getting their hair done. I really appreciate their support for local black-owned businesses. Plus, I love how all the stylists greet every client with little friendly remarks. It might seem minor, but common courtesy really makes a difference. This all shows how well Lady Tea runs the shop. They're very professional, yet also down to earth and know how to have a good time. Anyway, back to Ms. Toya. She NEVER DISAPPOINTS. I'm in love with my braids. They look and feel amazing. In the past, at other salons, my braids would be so tight that I'd end up with a headache.
