Emily was great...she worked with my schedule, and even squeezed me in before another customer just to get my trim done! (I thought that was nice of her!) I will admit that I am THE PICKIEST person when it comes to choosing someone to cut my hair, because I hardly ever want to cut it, but I'm also THE CHEAPEST. (which almost never goes hand in hand LOL) I've paid the highs and lows for cuts, and I definitely have had my share of horror stories!!! Luckily, this is not one of them: Emily Thai has her own little room and the rest of the place is a nail/waxing salon. I think she's the only hairstylist there, so I'm sure she has her work cut out for her, but she's pretty fast. I went in and told Emily that I wanted 1/2 an inch off (because I know that usually means 1-2inches in stylist terms), and I was kind of thankful I said that. Emily knows how to maintain the overall length of the hair, but I think because my ends were in bad shape, she tended to cut a lot of shorter layers throughout. Luckily, I'm a fan of layers, so that didn't bother me much (other than the fact that layers make braids look gross, and the side braid is my go-to bad hair day fix up, so if I could take -0.5 stars off for that, I might have lol). BUT If you love layers, which do make great curls/waves (my favorite good hair day style) then EMILY IS YOUR GAL!!! so +0.5 stars for that. I will admit that Emily knows her stuff...my hair felt healthier as soon as I walked out. She added dimension and oomph, without sacrificing the overall length, which would have been a NO NO in my book. The lady after me even said she wanted her hair cut like mine...so that was all the validation I needed. I recommend her to anyone, but if you're not a fan of layers, I would just tell her that upfront. Not to mention, I did have preexisting layers that were probably just stale in her eyes lol; it's my fault that I didn't let her know that I was hoping to eventually grow them out, but she did so well that I can't complain! I will definitely be back, and for $15 it's a guilt-free part from dead ends and a happy ending! Enough of my rambling....go get your hair cut by Emily! read more

Emily was fantastic! I read the reviews on here, trying to find that miracle hair stylist that I was almost positive didn't exist. I was tired of past stylists not willing to take the risks I wanted to take because they were afraid I'd scream or start crying or something. I have a bad tendency to grow my hair out long and then want to cut it very short. I like it short, I just don't do the up-keep. So, I called Emily at 10:30 asking for an appointment at 4:30 of the same day which wasn't a problem for her. Emily listened to what I wanted, asked me for my input at certain intervals of the cut, and could tell if I wasn't sure about something (ex. my bangs were too long initially) so she cut them to the perfect length and gave me some tips for styling. Love my hair! She was chatty but not overly so. To go from long to SHORT was exactly $18. I was impressed. I've paid much more for much MUCH worse. GO SEE EMILY! She's beyond worth it. read more

I was 15 minutes late to my appointment because I'm new to the area and got terribly lost. When I finally arrived, there was already another customer in the chair - I think there is so much demand that they can barely keep up. It wasn't a big deal, I had my nails done while I waited. By the way, they did a FANTASTIC gel manicure. I liked the stylist so much as a person. She is sweet and funny and loves to talk about her kids. She does an impressive job on your hair, but it's akin to a barber shop experience rather than a high-end salon. I have a pixie, and she asked me what I wanted done with my "sideburns" -- I said I wanted them squared off a little, which in hindsight was a huge mistake and made me look like a man, so I wish she'd used her professional judgment on that one. I was also a little disappointed that I wasn't offered a shampoo and blowdry. Still, the value is unbeatable, and there's no need to worry about coming out of there with a bad haircut. The place is hard to find. If you go by the suite number you will get lost. Just walk into the nail salon to the left and ask for Emily Thai - it's a room to the right that is a part of the same suite. read more

After searching Yelp for a great hairstylist with awesome reviews I settled with her and I'm glad I did too. I needed a trim and my hair relayered. She did just that without sacrificing the length of my hair. I usually go to JcPenny and the person who gave me my last cut messed it up but Emily fixed it, made it look so much better and alive. Great person, great haircut! This woman is a rare gem. Not only is she an excellent hair stylist, she is also super fair and honest, which is extremely rare these days. The haircut only cost me $20, and she even curled it for me at no extra charge. I tried to do a walk-in, but she had a client in the chair and an appointment after that, so I made an appointment for the next morning. Apparently, she is usually booked solid, so I would recommend calling ahead. read more

Literally one of the best haircut and haircut experience I've ever had! This is not an exaggeration. She is wonderful and friendly, super easy to talk to and is quick! I had a terrible haircut with blocky bangs and layers (if you could call them that) that were extremely uneven. Emily did her magic in under 30 minutes fixing my hair like a real pro. The best thing is she considered how much I wanted to keep my length and worked around the previous haircut. She is a layer master and if I lived closer to GP I would go to her all the time. I received the worst hair cut of my life from her!!!!! Yes, it's freaking cheap (i.e. $15 for men and $20 for women). But, she is definitely not worth the money. I came back to Texas for my summer break during June from school and I decided to use Yelp and Google reviews to help me find a good stylist. From the reviews I read here, I really thought she was some awesome, friendly hair stylist that gives the best cuts. I was definitely wrong!!! I was able to book my appointment the day before for both my husband and I. Booking wasn't the issue for me. The issue was definitely the quality of work she did on mine and my husband's hair. For my husband, his hair was okay. Maybe she is only good with male hair cuts...I don't know. But, he asked for his side burns to be trimmed as well. When she was done with cutting his hair, you could see that his sideburns were still really thick and long. I had to ask her to trim it down more because it looked like she didn't even touched the sideburns at all. As for me, I have thick, coarse, and wavy/curly hair. I always shampoo my hair on my own before coming to the hairdresser so it takes less time for them to cut and style my hair. For my hair, it usually takes about 30 minutes to the most an 1 hour to cut my hair. It took her 15 minutes to "cut" my hair and she only used the hair straightener to barely straighten my hair so she could see if there was any unevenness. Ladies with curly and frizzy hair, I'm sure you know what I'm taking about when I say my hair was a big puff ball of hair that she was trimming away at. At the end of the hair cut, I asked her if she could style my hair (i.e. fully straightening my hair so I could really see how bad she cut my hair) and she replied to me "Well, I have another appointment coming in a few minutes". Oh my goodness, I was so pissed!! Okay, so I knew what that meant.. I just said okay, got up, smiled, and paid. I wouldn't recommend Emily to anyone unless you're on a budget. Even so, I wouldn't recommend her. I would say getting a hair cut from Great Clips or Super Cuts would be better than going to her. At the end of the day, I basically came out with the same looking hair style that I came in with. I really wanted this experience to be a good one but it was definitely a letdown. read more

Not very pleased with the call I made to Emily. Asked if she takes clients by appointments or are walk ins ok. She said it depends on what I need and I told her 3 boys, ages 15, 9, & 8 needing a hair cut. She turned me away saying I should go to a barber instead. I told her barbers never do a good job and since I've read good reviews about her I wanted to give her a shot. She said she doesn't want to take them and said thanks but no thanks. I have always had layered hair (below my shoulders to mid back depending on season) and usually the places I go charge $50 for a haircut that I end up not liking because it's so choppy. She was very nice and friendly. She made me feel very at ease and was very knowledgeable about hair. However, upon closer inspection of my hair at home, I realized half of my hair was uneven with the other half. Moreover, some strands were longer than the other. My advice is to look over you hair closely BEFORE you leave the salon. read more

WOW ! I had gotten a very bad shoulder length cut. no flip and uneven layers. :( i lived with it looking like a brown helmet for a week..then started looking on google..found great reviews for this stylist...and just gave it up and went it...THE BEST THING I EVER DID !!! not only did she put the most flattering layers in but my hair looks longer and has a gorecous flip :) ...my front area was thinning and now it has the illusion of fullness and support ...she took the time on her own accord to show me how to curl it and talked to me about prodcust to use..not to sell me product but to help me achive what she had did ...bad day bad cut any thing going sideways...go see Emily...she is genuine and caring ...and a fantastic stylist ...pass this one ...share the good news... read more

I came from San Diego, California 2 years ago and was worried that I wouldn't find a good hair stylist here is Texas but boy was I pleasantly surprised when I found Emily! I have coarse short hair and it is wavy in different places but she seems to know exactly how to deal with it. Her layering technique is amazing and she cut my hair in 1/3 of the time of my ex-stylist used to but with the same quality if not better. You know you have a truly experienced and professional stylist when she cut your hair. She is also very time conscientious and I count this as a great customer service. I think she times her appointments appropriately so that she waits for her customers instead of the other way around.
