This King Dollar has got to be one of the biggest and better stored I have been to. I wonder if it is the super center of all King Dollars... Lol! I could not believe the amount of items they had in stock, along with the many aisles and selections of literally EVERYTHING!!! Had I known about this location, I would have planned my whole wedding with King Dollar supplies... I am so excited to have stumbled into this location. Lately I have been very into planner making, and tons of arts and crafts. This store has provided me more than enough supplies without putting a dent into my wallet. This location also has TONS of baby items in stock. I have two baby showers to attend to next month and I am SUPER EXCITED to be creating a gift basket with tons of baby items. You literally can make a diaper cake with all the little knick knacks they have in stores! This store is like heaven to me!!! Minus the smell like someone mentioned... The customer service could use some fine tuning. There was no greeting when we walked in, the cashier looked, and stared but no greeting. The store has really great items that are reasonably priced. The store is clean and I love that. Everything is neatly placed and nothing is out of place. I can tell they care about the appearance of this store on the inside. It stated they were under new management. I hope the new management will work on the customer service. I went to buy one item, that same cashier said nothing. No greeting, no thanks for coming in, absolutely nothing. And started at me as I walked out. Please work on that with your team. read more

I've been to many King Dollar stores. I find this store has a lot more stuff and best of all, it has groceries. It reminds me of a 99 Cents Store. However, I have to hold my nose every time I shop here. I can't stand the stinks. But the staff is really friendly and helpful. The best time is to shop here is weekend days. All cashiers are working - less wait. But, expect messy aisles and trouble finding what you'll need. I've never seen a slow night. It's like Christmas time in the summer. If you do shop at night, beware of your surroundings. Not saying this parking lot is unsafe, but there isn't enough lighting to see your path. Another tip, check the expiration date - "Best by" or "BB" - on all food packages. I'm no saying they sell expired food, but it's just common sense. read more

I never walk away empty handed. I usually find name brand items on a regular basis. I have been shopping here for about 20 years. Most of the staff are helpful and friendly. If you are debating about coming in, just take a look around. This place is my go to for special occasions and snacks. It made my wedding SWEET BAR memorable. read more

Moved further away from Gessner King Dollar and really miss it. I have had some amazing buys there over the years. For cleaning products and toiletries they are all cheap and good quality. I have bought cook and store dishes for a fraction of the retail price. WIll probably make the effort to go there once a month. read more

This place is ridiculous. They sold me a case of 24 silly string. A few hours later I discovered 5 of the cans were hairspray, not silly string. These were gifts for children so I tried to get exchange the products for what I was supposed to have purchased. The front cashiers were rude and said "no exchanges". I tried to explain I was not "exchanging", I was merely trying to get what I paid for. There was no manager on duty, and they absolutely did not care. I frequent this King $, 2 to 3 times a week! Spending anywhere from $5 to $30 each time! On 3/15/11 I went there while next door doing laundry, to buy 2 small car rugs to put outside of my cat's litter boxes, so they wouldn't track litter all over! When I went to BUY these rugs, I was told I was NOT ALLOWED to buy these 2 small rugs! That I had to buy the big and small rug, not 2 small ones? So I go back to the display, which was a mess, with trash all around..( I took pictures ) and there were probably 300 small rugs and 150 big rugs....they were stacked seperately, the small ones in the back and the bigger ones in front of the small ones. I asked to speak to a manager, and they directed me to a hispanic lady, who barely spoke english, and I asked her, and she said no, that I had to get a big one and a small one....so I asked...they are TWO for $1.09, then? And she said no...$1.09 each!? And I told her, well there's TWICE as many small ones as there are big ones, what happen when you sell all the bigs ones? THEN can I buy two small ones? And she said NO!? So I asked to speak with some one higher up than her, preferably someone who speaks Engish, and some one who is rational at LEAST?! She said she didn't know of any one or any #'s for me 2 call?! So I wrote on the King $ site, and I am also writing here, to express my discontent with the way they handeled this situation! If the rugs were packaged together, then I could see that you would have to buy both the big and small rug?! BUT...they are $1.09 each, and there is TWICE as many small ones as big ones?! So WHY AM I NOT ALLOWED, THEN TO BUY THEM???!!!! I was going to buy several other items, but left with out buying ANYTHING because of the way this situation was handeled! read more
