I really want to support local spots, so I'm bummed this was my experience. When I arrived, two customers who had already paid ended up leaving without their food because the wait was so long, which wasn't a great sign. I waited about 45 minutes for a plate with roasted chicken thighs, rice, salad, and hummus with pita. Which I would normally think would be super quick to plate and get out. Unfortunately, the chicken was extremely over-salted (I had to remove the skin), the rice was mushy, the salad had no dressing, and the hummus had a very odd, overly smooth texture that was off-putting. I ate one piece of chicken and couldn't finish the rest. I hate writing negative reviews, especially for local businesses, but the wait just wasn't worth it. read more

The young lady who is working in the restaurant side makes you feel welcomed the moment you walk in. (Teresa I believe is her name and I apologize if I misspelled) The restaurant and supermarket and kitchen (all attached by a hallway) are CLEAN clean. The dining room is well maintained & cared for. Now to the good part....the FOOD!!! Everything is Halal. The curry chicken is the best I have ever had. The Greek salad was fresh and amazing. You just know every ingredient is put on the plate with LOVE and care by a TRUE cook. Chef's kiss to the chef. We placed a take out order of food to feed about 8 people. We ordered via DoorDash and it took the restaurant more than 90 to get all the food cooked and ready, which was annoying. The food was delicious - lamb chops, dolmas and chicken quarters were my faves. Only critique besides the long wait time is that they give way too much rice with the food. We were visiting from out of town and traveling home the next morning, so we ended up throwing away a full tray of rice and a good amount of salad. read more

I moved to Las Cruces from Seattle, WA in Sept of 2022 after nearly dying due to a faulty heart valve that I was born with. During my month long stay in ICU in Seattle, I told myself that if I made it and my prosthetic valve worked, then I was going to find a place and eat an authentic Gyro. After arriving in L.C, I found Tiffany's on Telshor and it was absolutely great. It was one of the best Gyros I have ever eaten. Then I tried Santorini on University and it was AWFUL. And, finally after Tiffany's closed, I decided to give King Grill a try. I had passed it several times and was curious and read the reviews which gave me hope. And now I have tried it. I don't know if the people that reviewed Kind Grill were on something or not, but I have to say...my experience is nothing like the reviews. First and foremost - real gyro meat is sliced from a spit.....not taken out of the freezer of refrigerator in a bag and warmed up. The meat is awful. It comes from a bag. The tzatziki sauce is not good. The pita bread...not good. The "Greek salad?" there was not even enough of it to keep a rabbit alive. Altogether? I've never visited this place in person and I probably never will. All I can say is........someone please convince Tiffany's to re-open because we need some real Greek food in this town. OK, this is a toughie. We have eaten food from King Grill twice. Once was a long time ago, but it was takeout and it was delicious. Last week we went to dine in, and the food was still delicious but the atmosphere needs some help. Miss the booths from International Delights? You can sit in them again, here! First of all, the restaurant staff consists of one guy. He is the waiter and the cashier. There are some cooks in a separate room. Waiter-guy was not super-observant, so there could be a long delay between when someone came into the restaurant and when he finally appeared. So, friendly but disorganized. We ordered the lamb shwarma, another lamb dish, and the dolmas. The lamb dishes came with rice and a little bit of greek salad. That was all delicious, and the wait was not terrible, but while we were sitting there trying to dine, about 3 separate takeout orders were anxiously milling around the dining area (there's not a separate place for the takeout people to wait). It's hard to enjoy dinner while surrounded by people worrying about their doordash tips or what is taking the to-go order so long. And the takeout orders did legitimately take a long time, so I'm not sure doing takeout is the answer. I hope waiter-guy figures it out, because this place has the bones of a good restaurant if he can work out the atmospheric bugs. read more

I had a gyros sandwich with very fresh fries and my husband had a chicken souvlaki with rice pilaf. Both were delicious. We split a Greek salad which was good, although the dressing was a strange mustard-based dressing so I was glad it was on the side. My husband liked it, though. We did not have room for dessert but they did have baklava on the menu. The restaurant is attached to a Mediterranean grocery store, where we got some fresh Bulgarian feta cheese and some tea biscuits. Lots of other regional items as well. Great middle eastern food for a great price. The flavors tend to be more Persian, and it's nice to have some variety from the Greek, Lebanese, and Indian spices that this town has. In the several years since International Delights closed I have been at a loss. Every now and then I search the web for a restaurant in the area that serves Middle Eastern dishes that I love but no joy until, to my delight, I just recently discovered King Grill. The Lamb Shank Couscous was a large platter and was delicious: braised lamb shank with carrots, green beans, chick peas and, of course, couscous with a savory sauce. The Vegetarian Plate was generous and beautifully presented with falafel, hummus, tabouli and yellow rice garnished with a deliciously dressed small salad and olives. Rate this Mediterranean Grill FOUR AND A HALF STARS for the dining experience. I had driven past this little Mediterranean restaurant many times and it never looked like it was open. It is attached to a little grocery store on South Solano. Today I just had to stop in after reading a bunch of reviews raving about the food. So, just what is the truth about this place? Since Tiffany's went out of business I just had to find out. Inside the ambiance is nothing special. It is clean and well maintained, but it is still a little gloomy in there. I will note that on this somewhat cold winter day the restaurant was freezing inside and customers had to wear sweatshirts and jackets!!! One young woman was handling the front by herself. She was very pleasant and did a nice job. The restaurant was not really busy but it still took almost 25 or 30 minutes to get my food. There is no urgency to get the food out quickly at King Grill. I will also note that the waitress immediately brought out and placed a bottled water on my table in place of the usual glass of ice water. What was that all about? Never had that happen before. The prices for the food are very reasonable, especially when you consider how large the portions are. Today I ordered the Chicken Shawarma on Pita and the traditional Gyro. The Shawarma came with fries or a salad. I opted for fries. Inside the pita there was a lot of chopped up marinated chicken. The chicken had a nice flavor. I would think coriander and turmeric were primarily featured. It was a bit spicy but the heat level would be acceptable to most people. The veggies were crisp and fresh. A little tahini sauce topped it off. This was an excellent and somewhat exotic sandwich for the money. Rate it an "A-." The fries were fairly good...not at all greasy. Rate them a "B" to a "B+." The gyro came with the traditional gyro meat. It too had a lot of meat...much more than other gyros around town. The veggies also were crisp and fresh. This was a very good gyro...upper level but perhaps not an outstanding gyro. The meat seemed to be a bit dry and lacked a little flavor. Rate it a "B+" to an "A-." So, if you go...you'll find a clean but very casual atmosphere, casual service that is still efficient and pleasant, food prep times a little on the slow side, prices that are very reasonable, large portions, and very good quality exotic Mediterranean food. Despite the casual atmosphere, the food quality is high enough to raise the restaurant rating to FOUR AND A HALF STARS. I'll definitely return. read more

There was a family at a table, but no one else. We saw several people at a grocery part of the restaurant, and we can't imagine that no one saw us. Extremely strange gyros. I was hoping for a traditional pita filled with gyro meat, onions, tzatziki sauce and tomatoes. What arrived was a pita with a tad of gyro meat, a medley of bitter greens and a diced mix of onion, tomato and unappealing dry spices. My dad and and I have driven by this place quite a bit and have always wondered about it. So today we came in for our weekly date night. As we sat down we noticed that the restaurant was extremely clean and welcoming. The staff went above and beyond they were extremely friendly. I had ordered the chicken masala and it had amazing flavor the only complaint I had was it was a bit spicy however that's also a matter of opinion.
