My son loved this sailing camp - he has done it for several years and the coaches are great!

Geoff and Emily are the perfect sailing captains, guides, boat companions etc. They are so…read moreknowledgeable, fantastic conversationalists and just the loveliest people. The Alchemy is a gorgeous 36ft Sailboat, it was very comfortable for our party of 4 (plus Geoff & Emily), but can definitely comfortably accommodate additional numbers. Our group sailed for 4 hours from Redondo to Palos Verdes (swim/lunch break in PV) back up towards Manhattan Beach before we returned to the lovely King Harbor Marina (parking is very convenient!). I highly recommend going with Alchemy Sailing over the larger companies that operate out of Marina del Rey. The setting is much more picturesque sailing around the South Bay, and you're not stuck for an extended period navigating out of the labyrinth that is Marina del Rey. Plus you don't want to miss out on sailing with Geoff & Emily, they really made the experience very special and I can't wait to go again!

My husband and I had a large wedding planned out in San Francisco until COVID hit and cancelled…read moreeveryone's wedding plans for 2020. We opted to change plans and host a micro wedding/elopement on Alchemy from the Redondo Beach Harbor, and we are so happy we did. The sailboat is incredibly beautiful and Geoff and Emily were so accommodating and flexible. We coordinated all of our vendors with ease partly because they are so easy to work with. They are so passionate about sailing and truly made our experience so memorable. We are forever grateful!

Natasha took us out this past weekend for our three hour intro tour (Like Gilligan's island so…read moredon't think we weren't worried cause you know what happened to them). I've spent a bunch of time on and under the water, years in fact, but always under motor power so this was an entirely new thing for me and I am shocked that I waited decades to learn the basics. We had a blast! Natasha, our captain and HSIC, (Head sailor in charge) was great with a simple step but step process combined with great attention attention to detail and focus that I so appreciate as a military instructor because its the little things that when learned well, make all the difference. I am pretty sure that we took off two years of her with our lack of mad skilz but she didn't say anything lol. If you're anything like me then you know how to sail, IN ONE DIRECTION LOL. Its getting turned back around and heading home that is a real challenge and even on this first time out we had a great understanding of how much there is to know but how basic the basics are given the time that we will now put into learning and practicing them. We are on our way back for our next lesson this next week and if I am not stranded on an island for seven seasons like Gilligan was then ill write another review. If you've thought about sailing then I highly suggest this company and Redondo location because of the way the harbor and inlet is built. Lots of space to sail around in before or after you get on the open ocean. Funny ive been a sailor for over 20 years in the Navy but never learned how to sail until last week. Bon Voyage!
