This was such an amazing experience! Went on a 4 hour excursion. The first 2 hours were a 2 person lesson and then we retuned to shore and some of our friends got on a for a night sail and birthday celebration. I can't recommend LA sailing enough! I've been a club member for a few years now, and it's one of my favorite things to do in LA (you can bring guests too which is always fun). Both of the captains are wonderful, and they give you the freedom to hang back and relax, or you can engage with the sailing and they'll happily show you the ropes. My beau Scott was stoked and it was a lively crew with two new friends Kat and Mike sharing their lively attitudes and lovely libations. Kevin, thank you so much for having us aboard! A friend and I sailed the noon after the rains and boy was it perfect. The skies were clear and the entire Catalina Island was visible. It was a calm, beautiful day on the water. It gets a little chilly so I would recommend a light jacket and sunglasses. We sailed side by side sea lions and even spotted a grey whale near the bay! We were aboard a 2-sail boat and did the group sailing lesson. Kevin lets you be as hands-on as you like; everyone has a role in raising the sails and steering the boat. Kevin uses all the sailing lingo and provides an authentic experience. The whole trip lasted about 3 hours. I originally saw the sailing lesson deal on Groupon but when I called Kevin, he was able to honor the Groupon deal. He's very prompt in responding to your calls and emails. There aren't many sailing businesses out here in the LA area and it was very hard to find one that didn't cost an arm and a leg. I messaged these guys on Yelp and they replied as soon as they opened up the next day and were super friendly and explained everything so well. I booked everything online without a hassle. The day we went out to see we met up at the dock in Redondo Beach that had free parking. The directions were so easy to find. Once there we met up with Kevin and he was so chill that it made us feel super comfortable. Like going out sailing with a friend.
