Maria was incredibly helpful, attentive, and very kind catering to our group every step of the way. This is our second time renting this boat but I can almost guarantee it won't be our last!! Don't worry if you don't have gear, they do and don't worry if you are just tagging along with someone who loves to fish. A great time will be had. The yacht is so clean and very comfortable. There are bathrooms and places to sit. The Captain and crew are so nice. They are very helpful for people just starting out and they know how to help the seasoned fisherman. You can also charter the yacht to spread ashes of a loved one. I have not done that, but some were doing that before we boarded and they had a lovely little ceremony for their parents. There is also a lot to do right in the Marina before or after. You will love it.

From booking to instructions for arrival and parking to answering any questions we had, they made everything super easy. Captain Breydan took us out, assisted by Rhia (Rhea?) who helped us with drinks and organizing our potluck of items we brought. They were both so kind and laid back and dealt with our birthday antics with a smile on their faces. The cruise was a lot of fun and we even got into a pod of dolphins who were swimming under the front of the boat. It was a truly incredible experience and definitely the highlight of the day for everyone. We stopped to swim & it was all around a great time. The boat was clean and looked great. I can't wait to book with them again!

There was a lot of people in line. I was in the middle and thought I wouldn't get good seats, but I ended up sitting outside in the front. The boat is really nice and big. The front is the best place to sit with a good view of the whales and dolphins. The inside was packed and you don't really see a lot and sitting outside in the back you could smell the fumes from the engine. I did see dolphins and whales - the mom and the calf. They had a couple of experts talk about the whales and dolphins. We were past Newport Beach when we finally saw the whales. We spent a good amount of time seeing them. Then we went back. It's gets windy. It was a fun experience.

First off, private interest can hire out lanes at any time and they deduct those lanes from paying customers. Second, if your a tax paying resident and a student you get the cheapest rate, but some of the staff (Dave) take it upon themselves to dictate rules and limit you on how many you can buy (like a Nazi). Lockers and locker rooms are near disgusting. Amazing how a city that has 1-bedroom apartments that rent for $6,000 can't make a nicer facility.

The locker room is what you'd expect in a facility open to the public, but the pool itself, water quality, staff attitude and lifeguards are all first class. The pool water temperature and chlorine levels are nearly always right where they should be. At times when I've forgotten my goggles, I have completed my workout without great eye discomfort. Currently, October 2022, the pool is not open as many hours as it was prior to the pandemic. On Saturday and Sunday afternoons, the pool is divided in half with four lanes for laps swimmers ; the balance of the pool is reserved for recreational swimmers. There is a diving board for those that pass the swim test. Be sure to check the schedule before heading to the pool as swim lessons can intrude on lap swimming lanes. Children's and adult swim lessons are offered for a modest price, and the classes tend to be small. Most all of the staff wear face masks at all times. As of now, masks are not required for entry. The entry fee has varied over the years, but it has always been very affordable. Right now, 2022, seniors get in for one dollar.

I write this review with trepidation because I do not want this pool to become crowded, but I've…read morebeen searching for a good local pool and hope that this review can help others who are doing the same. This pool is located on the campus of Venice High School, and is open to the public during various hours (see website for details). Also, it is the only indoor pool in that area that I know of beside the one at the Santa Monica 24 hour fitness. The locker rooms, like any public pool, leave much to be desired, and are built like concrete bunkers. The walls and floor are all concrete, thus cold pools of water cover the entire floor and it is freezing in there, especially when you're wet. However one thing I liked was that rather than having actual lockers, there is an attendent behind a cage window that you hand your items to kind of like a coat check. They also have these mesh bags that you can use which hang on these metal poles they set up so that you don't have to put your stuff onto the wet bench or floor. Once you put everything in the bag you simply hand it to the attendant for you to get later. This way you don't have to cram everything into a little locker or worry about bringing your own lock. There are also lifeguards on duty and they have kickboards and poolbuoys available for use. The structure itself is also very well ventilated so though it gets colder than a smaller building, there is less of that strong chlorine smell. All of the attendants and lifeguards on duty are friendly and helpful. The crowd is mixed, though I would say it skews toward the older side. All in all, this is a great place if you're looking for a no frills swim. While you do have to suck it up while you're undressing/dressing before and after swimming if you're going during the colder months (and wet floors and benches are annoying), the pool is spacious and well kept. I also love that it's less than 2 miles from my apt.

This was a 50th Birthday celebration for a dear friend. It ended up being so fun! The Cap Kevin was really nice and friendly to us crazy ladies!! When a couple of us started feeling not so good due to sea sickness, he took us back into the harbor area and we anchored there for what was supposed to be the remaining hour of our trip, but he ended up asking us if we wanted to watch the sunset, Which we did for almost another hour there on the boat. That ended up being the best part for our Birthday girls trip as she loves music, and he played great tunes the whole time, and after anchoring he played songs that she requested and helped take pictures at sunset on the front of the boat, This ended up being beautiful pics! I cant wait to go out again. Out on the water was so peaceful and lovely. we saw seals and pelicans on out trip. the only surprising part was I thought there would be a bit more room to move around, We had 5 ladies and I would say thats about all there is room for. The back of the boat is were you mostly hang out with seating only. No space to walk around. However, that didnt matter! We had such a wonderful time laughing and singing and taking pics! Loved this trip, and all the many emails I sent before hand as we had many questions and changes before our day, they answered promply and help with everything! Thank you LA sailing!! I'm so grateful I found LA sailing. They're awesome!! Both Kevin's were super helpful in making this happen for us. The first Kevin walked me through the best option / package that met my objectives in learning how to sail while having fun on the water. The second Kevin was so kind and patient in teaching us how to sail and navigating our sail while giving us the free range to have fun and learn how to do it. I'm a beginner sailer and was looking for best options to be on the water. This is for all levels - whether you want to get on the water for a quick safe sail, you want to learn how to sail or you're an expert and you want to take the reigns. Sunset sails are all the more spectacular. We were lucky enough to have witnessed a beautiful sunset that reflected its light on all the houses along the beach and at the same time watch the moon appear in the light sky into the night Sky. Had the absolute BEST experience today with my date for Valentine's Day! Sailing with Captain Kevin on the beautiful boat "Celebration" was nothing short of the single best decision I've made for a perfect date! Kevin made the whole process special! He coordinated with me on everything and made it completely easy to trust him. He's a true professional on every level. You can be as active on the boat as you want or just relax and he will take care of it all. The boat is in tip top shape and it really shows how well it is maintained and cared for. This was the first time I've chartered a sailboat and I am hooked! I will only go out with Kevin from here on out because there is absolutely no reason for me to try anyone else. I started L.A. Sailing without knowing the difference between starboard or portside and less a year later I was comfortable enough sailing on my own. I did lots of research about the different schools and crews that offer lessons around Marina Del Rey and L.A. Sailing was the most affordable and flexible for my schedule. The two instructors (both Kevin) encourage you to be hands on right away while they thoroughly explain what's happening as you learn to adjust the sails or ship with the wind. Although it's not all work, guests are welcome to bring beer or wine aboard if you want to relax but just keep an eye out for dolphins. All the crew members are equally as helpful and easy-going too. So whether you're interested in learning or just looking for a relaxing sunset sail, there's no better experience on the water than with L.A. Sailing. read more

The last time I was in a sailboat was in 1993! I decided to try sailing again, and contacted Kevin at LA Sailing. I told him I wanted to take a ride with a couple of my friends, but would not be adverse to learning "the ropes" per se. We went out on a sunset sail, and it could not have been more perfect weather. We saw dolphins and sea lions, watched the gorgeous sunset, and I got to sail a little myself. Though I was a little nervous, Kevin is a patient teacher who made me feel comfortable when he was showing me what to do with the ropes and even the sails. Then he showed me how to steer! OMG I loved it! I cannot say enough about how much fun we had on the water that day. It was gorgeous and just wonderful. I cannot recommend LA Sailing enough. I will definitely be back. read more

A SoCal native, I had been thinking about trying sailing for a few years but wasn't sure how. Not knowing anyone who sails or owns a boat, LA Sailing was the perfect opportunity to affordably and safely learn. Both the MDR and RB Captains are named Kevin and are super friendly and welcoming to novices. They let you learn at your own pace and comfort level, and RB Kevin always provides everyone the chance to take the wheel. Sailing in the Santa Monica Bay on a regular basis has been a great experience and something to look forward to each month. I really enjoy the sunset sails and while I have taken a break from it for now, I am excited about getting back out on the water in the Spring. My only hope is they expand to Long Beach which would be an easier drive for me! read more

Ahoy Pirates N' Mermaids. If I could give LA Sailing 10 stars, I will, but unfortunately, it's not possible. Before joining LA Sailing, I went searching around other clubs to join before I made up my mind which club meets my needs. What made me choose LA Sailing was the good vibes from the first sail in San Pedro. Other perks about LA Sailing is that they have boats in San Pedro, King Harbour, and MDR. Friendly club members who genuinely love sailing and being out in the water. After a couple of months of being out in the water cruising with other LA Sailing club members, I finally built the confidence to purchase my own boat, Ericson 23, and now I'm sailing on the weekends. I started sailing tiny little boats in college and did not have a great experience, but I still wanted to be it on the water in bigger boats. After moving to California, I'm so glad I was able to find this club. I've only been a member for a month now, but driving from the valley to Marina del Rey is definitely worth it! You get what you put into it; if you want to learn, jump in and both captains are happy to answer questions and let you take the helm. If you want to just relax on the water, no pressure. Super laid back, relaxing, each sail is a little bit different. It's a great idea to take a "test" sail to see if you'd like it, and they are happy to accommodate. I highly recommend! read more

We decided sailing to Catalina for our 25th wedding anniversary would be a great experience, and LA sailing met all of our expectations and more. We were not expecting to sail the boat too, as no one in my family had ever done this. The captain's instructions were clear and actually sailing the boat made this a trip we would never forget. We live in Nebraska, so sailing is not a norm for us, but next time we are in the Los Angeles area, we will be booking again; maybe just the sunset cruise. I've been sailing with L.A. Sailing for 8 months now and it's one of the best parts of my LA life. The club is fun and uncomplicated - you sign up, pick a time/boat to sail and you're on the water! The atmosphere is always relaxed, the Kevins do a great job at making sure everybody is having a good time. You can just chill or take the helm and learn how to be a (better) sailor! Club boats sail out of San Pedro, Redondo, and Marina del Rey, and there are occasional trips to Catalina so you get to see all the highlights of the LA coast. LA Sailling is the best and most affordable way to get hands on sailing experience out in the Santa Monica Bay. After taking an ASA 101 course, I was looking around for a good way to get more time out on the water and I found LA Sailing. I joined as a member and have loved every second of it. The Kevins are awesome captains. They teach you the skills you need if you're interested in improving as a sailor; or if you're in for a more relaxing ride you can sit back and let them take the helm while you enjoy a perfect Southern California sunset. This was our first sailing experience and we loved it. It was a very good deal from groupon. I called and talked to Kevin to schedule. He is very organized. He sent us a detailed confirmation e-mail, which included all the information we needed. Both Kevins are very friendly. They explained everything clearly, gave us anecdotes (some very funny) and answered all my questions about sailing. I'm used to the motor sound of the boats so I found sailing so quiet and so beautiful. I enjoyed it so so much, and I want to take another tour with them soon. My trip to Cali visiting my daughter was complete after my sailing expedition with the Kevin Team. I live in Ohio and I have never sailed before and it was even a better sailing experience on the Pacific Ocean with these 2 experts. They were very knowledgeable, very easy going and friendly and made the trip quite memorable ! I went as a guest of my sister who has been sailing with Kevin many times. The experience was wonderful from beginning to end. There were 4 others on the boat with us and we had a lovely time getting to know one another. We were allowed to crew and learned a bit about the art and science of sailing....Kevin made it interesting and fun and I felt like part of a team. Visiting LA area and looking for something to do???? This will be the best trip, excursion, or adventure you take. Spent two days sailing. One day with each of the Kevins. Great experience both from the education to the relaxation! As a power boater on the great lakes, the ability to help out and take the helm in the ocean was exciting. I took an interest in sailing and joined this organization. Best decision I ever made! I have learned quite a bit along the way and thoroughly enjoy every aspect of this group. Los Angeles Sailing transformed me from an inexperienced land lubber into a confident experienced sailor in a matter of months. The Captain's are competent safe sailors, incredible teachers and most importantly really fun to be around. L.A. Sailing was a blast and such a great experience! It completely blew my expectations! The Kevin's were so great and made me feel like I was sailing with long time friends! The atmosphere was so relaxing and comfortable. It's great, you can either sit and enjoy the ride or you learn and be hands on! This was my first real sailing experience and I couldn't have asked for better Captains! They are definitely my go to sailing guys! I can't wait to be back out on the water with them! read more

Amazing experience! I don't know where else in LA you can have this kind of hands on opportunity without being in a school setting with many others. It is immediately evident that Kevin is a master at sailing and his knowledge and comfort level with guests really sets the tone for a relaxing, yet educational adventure. Jimmy was the deckhand and was very helpful as well. We sailed just before sunset, returning after dark. This trip exceeded all of my expectations. read more

Spectacular scenery - Venice, Santa Monica Pier, Malibu and delightful wild life including lots of sea lions and dolphins. The boat is beautiful and spacious- plenty of room for our group to enjoy the covered back area and take in the sunshine and lovely weather on the bow. Captains Marla and Scott took great care of us - they are experienced and knowledgeable sailors but also very professional and hospitable. We enjoyed nice food and adult beverages, listened to great music and chatted and laughed while enjoying a day on the water. I highly recommend Del Rey Boating and I am looking forward to my next adventure with them.
