Wowww! Went for girls Night Saturday we tried some drinks, an order of the dip trio with pineapple jalapeño dip, fresh guacamole and cheese dip. It was sooo amazing I expected a lot from the entree. I was NOT disappointed, I ordered The Chong and Al Pastor Bob tacos on corn tortillas with street corn salad. Lawddddd, it was amazing! Each bite was a burst of fresh flavor, perfectly seasoned, once I added the street corn to my tacos, it was even better. Will definitely go back again to try more of the tacos. read more

Just passin thru Florence... walked in a couple places trying to find some place veggie friendly. thanks to Yelp we found this joint. King Jefe would pass for cool in your normal metropolitan city, here it's downright the hippest stop you can find (sorry Florence.) I love love Mexican food! I love Authentic home made Mexican food. I am from New Jersey where I was spoiled to the best, fresh, homemade tacos at every corner. So I know that real Mexican food looks and tastes. This place has neither. The place looks and feels trendy. The service was okay. But my disappointment was about the food. I ordered fish shrimp with black fried beans . From the second I saw the plate I knew that it wasn't good eats. First, the tacos had 3 over cooked , salty shrimps , Lettuce with some mayonnaise sauce? What? The corn tortillas was not cook so it tested raw. I don't think it was corn tortilla like the server told me. The black beans looked like a scoop of ice cream. It was horrible! It was dry with not flavor. Taco Bell has better tacos that this place and I don't like Taco Bell. The saddest part was the bill: $10! Really!? I don't mind paying for good food but it's hard to pay for horrible food that I couldn't eat. read more

If you have a drink with your food, maybe being buzzed with alcohol suddenly transforms your food into a magical experience. But the two tacos I had were mediocre. Great night, good service, good food, great margaritas! Group of friends went tonight to check out King Jefe. The nachos & salsa were good. Would like to try the spicier side. My friends ordered the milder salsas, but they were good. I tried the Chong & the Charlie Bravo. I usually low carb & glad to see they accommodated that, but also tried the chorizo mac. It was all good, & I'll go back for the food. However, the find of the night was the black salt margaritas. It was delicious, and our bartender (don't know his name but he said he'd been there from the first day) was excellent. Wish I could bring him home to make margaritas for me! What a delightful surprise! Nestled in old downtown Florence (which appears to be undergoing a major Renaissance) was this little gem of Mexican-themed gastropub. From the same folks who brought you the amazing Tubbs Seafood, the menu was extremely varied (ie something for everyone). Patti (currently on a hellish elimination diet) was able to order a wonderful Cali-bowl minus the dairy and did not miss it at all. I got the two tacos and a side for $9.95 and I went for the Swami's and the chorizo Mac and cheese. Both were divine. The best part was the service. Super friendly and over-the-top accommodating. Just take Evans until you are in a pretty active construction zone and King Jefe has a big neon sign. If you get to the Federal Bldg. you missed it. Turn around-- it's worth the effort! Pretty sure they have a nice nightlife for those in that mode. We will DEFINITELY be returning!!! read more

Great taco place in Florence! Ordered a beef and chicken taco and you can tell they use fresh ingredients. Unlike other places, their tacos are big and filling. They also make a very good margarita. Restaurant is very clean and up-to-date and the staff is awesome. Will definitely come back to King Jefe next time I come through Florence. read more

King Jefe is the place to be! The guac is so yum, and I higley recommend the rice bowl. Get 4 orders of churros for good measure. Make sure your teacher doesn't steal your money!
