After having consultations done at both King Lasik and LasikMD, I knew hands-down I wanted to go through King Lasik. The staff couldn't be friendlier - from the receptionist who greets you, to the amazing optometrists and assistants, to Dr. King himself - everyone was calm, helpful, and clearly happy to be doing what they do. I personally felt that a surgeon whose name is on the company takes a bit more pride in his work, versus someone operating under the cloak of a massive brand name. No offense to LasikMD, this is just my perception. Plus, they price match, so you can be confident that you will By the day of my procedure (April 8, 2016), I had asked dozens of questions, some silly I'm sure, and received all the answers I was looking for. I had opted for the all-laser Lasik procedure. I felt relatively relaxed, and knew what to expect. After signing the necessary forms and making payment, having a quick second assessment of my eyes, and hanging out for a few minutes in the waiting room (which is always filled with delicious snacks and lots of beverage options), I was called into the procedure room. That was when I took of my glasses for the last time ever :) I donned a sexy surgery cap, and reclined on the operating chair, while Ashley and I chatted and she kept me full of eye numbing drops. The procedure began - 12 seconds to create a flap in my right eye, about the same for the left eye, then 22 and 28 seconds to perform the Lasik in each respective eye. Then - done! Seriously, I was leaving the room no more than 15 minutes after I'd entered it. Vision was intermittently blurry for the rest of the afternoon, but I got a drive home and slept for most of the day and night, or listened to audiobooks with my eyes closed if I couldn't sleep. When the numbing wore off, there was some burning sensation, but nothing too intense. The next morning I woke up, and could already see better than I could ever remember seeing in my life. At my 24h follow-up, I was told I already had 20/15 vision :) I've been lucky, and haven't suffered with dry eyes during this first week, and my night vision, though it does include halos, is still better than it ever was with glasses. I'm excited to see how my one week followup goes this Friday, and to see how my eyes settle over the next few weeks and months. All in all, this was the best decision I've ever made for my health and well-being. I'm glad I chose to do it, I'm glad I went with the procedure I did, and I'm glad I went to King Lasik to have this done. Like many others have said, my only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. I couldn't be happier with how things went at King Lasik. I had shopped around with different places to ensure I chose the best place for my eyes, and King Lasik was my final choice. I arrived for my consultation and was greeted by the friendly staff members who were open to questions and answered them all patiently. I did not feel pressured to choose King Lasik after the initial Consultation as they were very open to me shopping around for other options out there. I found the price was very reasonable compared to many other places, especially considering the type of technology they offered. On Surgery day, I was feeling a little bit excited/anxious. The staff reassured me and answered all of my questions and concerns, making me feel settled with my decisions. The procedure itself was quick and though there seemed to be many things going on at once during the surgery, I was never left guessing what was going on. The technicians explained step by step what Dr. King was doing to my eyes and allowed me to anticipate what was going to happen next. What surprised me most was that there is a "tv room" prior to the surgery that you rest in before you get called in. I thought this was a nice bonus as there were couches and movies that helped keep me calm before surgery. Best of all, there was barely any wait time for me. I booked my surgery for 1000am and I was out of the office by 1100am that day -- with eyedrop instructions, payment, pre-op check, explanation of procedure, the actual surgery, and the post-op check. I had my surgery done last year in July. I checked out a few other facilities but decided on this one since my brother-in-law had already gone through the procedure at this location and had no complaints. Although their office didn't seem as modern or up-to-date as their competitors, it didn't matter. Their service, knowledge and their vast experience in the industry won out. Also, their financing (2 years of equal payments with no interest or extra charges) helped as well since their competitors would not do that. I opted not to know the full details of the surgery so that I wouldn't feel anxious about the procedure. I'm glad I did it this way and trusted the staff to lead me from one thing to the next otherwise I probably would have chickened out! They offer you a pill to calm your nerves before surgery. Take it!! I didn't think I would need it, but I'm glad I did. The staff has done this procedure so many times that they were so calm and professional which is exactly what I needed to get through the surgery. Like everyone else, I did have dry eyes for a few months afterwards. But my eyes had fully recovered and my night vision is fine, although I did have to avoid driving at night for a couple of months. My eyes still tend to dry out if there is an air conditioner cranked up but it's nothing severe and just requires a few extra blinks until I leave that area. Also, focusing on things that are a few inches away from my eyes is a bit harder than before the procedure. These things are very minor compared to the freedom of not wearing glasses which I had since I was a little kid. read more

I had my surgery on march 13th. Here it is a month later and I have nothing but good things to say about it. At first the recovery time was minimal. There was discomfort for the first 8 or so hours after the surgery but you sleep for most of that anyway. For the next 3-5 days it felt kind of like welders flash or sand in the eyes but as long as I kept the eye drops on schedule it really wasn't that bad. For the next 10 days my eyes just felt dry, again I just had to keep the drops in. Now a month later I experience minimal dryness... Right from the beginning, your welcomed into the office by very friendly receptionists. The optometrist is very helpful and will explain any question you have. Don't hesitate to ask. The procedure itself was pretty quick. DR King meets with you before the procedure and goes thru the process with you and answers any remaining questions you have. The actual process was a strange feeling to say the least, but in all honesty it was a breeze. I waited a long time to build up the courage to get my eyes fixed with lasik and after having them done, I regret waiting so long. The very next day I was seeing 20/15.. Being able to play hockey, snowboard, dirt bike, mountain bike even working out without having to worry about contacts or glasses fogging up was worth the money... As for payment. Best gift I have ever given myself! I had my surgery done in August 2010. I went to King Lasik after a friend of mine had gotten it done there and explained to me how easy it was. The staff was very friendly, welcoming and professional and all my appointments were very quick...even my surgery! The longest part was waiting for the drops to set-in. I was probably in the surgery room for 10 minutes. They give you an ativan to help relax you and you lie in a chair like at the dentist and stare at a bright light. The discomfort level was that of accidently wiping my eye when cutting onions which ibuprofen was able to take care of. They did put more freezing in one eye than the other and said it would be fine but once I felt discomfort, they topped me up and I didn't feel anything. I went home to sleep as advised and after waking up from my nap I was already able to read my alarm clock from my ensuite which I wasn't able to do before. I had not problems with dry eyes or night vision as some other commments. I couldn't be happier. If you rely on glasses/contacts find a way to go and do this. It's like pre-paying for your glasses but with an added quality of life and in the long run depending on how often you had purchases glasses/contacts it'll probably work out cheaper. I was impressed the first time I walked into King Lasik - everyone is very kind and professional, they happily answered all of my questions, and I had a lot of them! There is a kind of "at-home" feeling in the office, which was very calming on the day of the surgery. They respected my decision not to take the anti-anxiety medication before the surgery, which meant a lot. I detest feeling pushed into things I don't want to do, or being made to feel stupid for a decision I've made, and I never once felt that. Dr. King himself added to that feeling of calm during and after the surgery with his confident, steady mannerism and his explanation of how the surgery went and what can be expected for a little while. The reading materials they gave me were also very helpful and thorough, and when I came back for check-ups they were specific about what I needed to do to continue healing in the best way possible. I am extremely happy with my "new eyes", and have had no trouble in the 8 months since my surgery. After looking into laser, i decided to do the consult with King Lasik because i didn't feel like they were trying to sell me anything and they were extremely professional. The consult went smoothly, they are a series of tests and each person spent as much time answering my questions as was necesary - not once making me feel like they were in a rush or that I had to make a decision about booking the procedure that day. I left feeling reassured and impressed. I called the following week to book the actual procedure and when the day finally came, I was once again made to feel at ease and taken care of. Everyone took their time making sure i was 100% comfortable and answered any last minute questions. Meeting Dr. King before the procedure made me feel much more at ease and confident. In the actual room, everyone was super chatty and friendly before Dr. King began and he was extremely efficient, quick and thorough. Had my surgery done July 2011. I didn't think I would qualitfy, since my prescription was very strong (-900 in both eyes) I went through the consulations and I did qualify. I suffer from extremely dry eyes. I was not able to wear contact lenses because my eyes were so dry. This was something that worried me a bit, since many of my friends said that it would get worse. I have to say my vision is 20/20 and my problems with dry eyes went away. Before I got the surgery done. I was thinking of putting permanent plugs in, but they told me to wait a few months to see how everything went, and I'm glad I waited. I didn't need them at all. I am very happy with my decision to go with King Lasik. The procedure was quick, painless and life changing. I would recommend Dr. King to all my friend and family. This year I was able to go on vacation and not have to worry about glasses (only what sunglasses I wanted to wear). I wore contact lenses for 15 years as my numbers were always too high for correction. My eyes suddenly rejected them so I was stuck in glasses. At this point I decided to revisit Lasik as my ophthalmologist told me that there are two surgeons in Alberta skilled enough to handle my numbers, one of them being Dr. King. I qualified for the intralase with flap. It was the best decision I ever made! I went from a -13, to 20/20. They took awhile to stabilize, but I was well informed of this being I had such high numbers. I was also informed that most likely it would take more than one correction with my large numbers. I was happy with my outcome and have not needed any enhancements for five years now. The office staff is friendly, and really takes the time to explain everything. I had surgery with Dr. King several years ago and am absolutely thrilled with the results. I had been considering it for a long time and was tossing around the idea of where to go. I ended up having a family member work for Dr. King and when I heard comments of not only the excellent work that he did but also about how he respected and treated his staff, I knew that he was a man with great work and personal ethics. Because of my age, I will have to go back for a "tweak" in the future and have no hesitation about going back. I had been wearing progressive contact lenses / progressive glasses and found that wearing progressives were a "pain in the butt". After the surgery, I knew that I would have to wear glasses for close up work but find that I only need them at night when the lighting is not very good. We were treated very professionally from the time we walked through the doors for the consultation to the after surgery checkup. A few weeks ago, I finally decided to say goodbye to my glasses and contact lenses. After having many consultations at various laser eye correction places, I was told that I was not a candidate for laser eye surgery due to my chronic dry eyes and thin corneas. But I finally found a place that would correct my vision, KING LASIK. Due to my thin corneas, I was not a suitable candidate for LASIK and opted for PRK eye surgery instead. Although PRK has a longer recovery time than LASIK, about 1-2 weeks, it is totally worth the long term gains in my opinion. It has been a few weeks since I've had surgery and my vision Is 20/20. I cannot speak more highly of my experience. Staff were very friendly, approachable , and prodessional. My whole experience was great. king LASIK surpassed any of the expectations I had. I had Laser eye surgery about 1 year ago at King Vision. One of the best decisions I ever made. I recommend King Vision to anyone asking. The surgery has been a huge success, and I am seeing better than 20/20. The follow-up care has been great, I suffered from dry eyes before the surgery, and knew going in that this could be an issue. The care afterword had a great focus on this, and the dry eye issue was cared for and disappeared after about 6 months. I felt very comfortable with Dr. King, and to me that was the most important aspect of the surgery. With this being your one and only set of eyes, going with a doctor with experience and a strong reputation was a must. The only downside I had with the surgery was sales aspect. I was recommended to King Lasik (when it was Clearly Lasik) by a co-worker. I was very pleased with my decision to have my Lasik procedure done at King Lasik. Right from the start, I felt like I was visiting a reputable, trustworthy, and honest medical professional. Despite Lasik being a safe and proven elective surgery, I wanted to be certain I was in good hands. I did my research, visited other Lasik doctors in the city, and settled with King Lasik. This weekend I head into my third full week post-surgery. I am seeing better than I expected. My correction was pretty strong, with astigmatism, so I may need a touch-up in the end; however, I expected the potential need for touch up, and 20/30 is not bad for now! We shall see how the vision settles and go from there. My experience with Clearly Lasik / King Lasik was great! I had researched numerous other options prior to proceeding with Dr. King, and did so with confidence as they provided, in my opinion, the best overall package for my requirements. I really appreciate the fact that Dr. King was willing to answer and address questions and concerns right up to the surgery, and that they are willing to back up their work with a guarantee. I have referred friends and family and will continue to do so. My only negative feedback is that I had to deal with the typical downtown parking hassle and costs for all my visits and that there were occasional times where I would have to wait for my follow-up appointments.
