I was pleasantly surprise when I saw that a Chinese food establishment was going in this space. There are not a lot of to-go options on this side of town besides fast food. I went recently and placed my order. They were so busy that this took a few minutes, but they were very nice about it. Was told that it would be about 15 min or so. There are places to sit and eat, but all the business this evening was to-go orders. I was also shocked to see a drive up window. That is a nice touch too. Especially in the colder months. For the price, we got a ton of food. I had two things that kept me from giving a full 5 stars. 1. the appetizer platter we got had some good things in it (the egg rolls were wonderful) but many of the items were tough and over cooked (the shrimp, the ribs, the teriyaki chicken). I think part of this is just because they were so busy. I was sad because the chicken on the stick is usually my favorite part and it was dry. 2. I was supposed to receive free cheese wantons for my order being over $20, and they weren't included. I guess they were free, but I would have used my 10% off coupon instead if I knew I wasn't going to get them. Overall, this was a good place- the food was quick and hot, the people were friendly, and the place seemed clean. It was also interesting to see the food being made in the kitchen. read more

King Mao delivered exactly on what was promised. For an exotic food business operating out of a strip mall on Fort Campbell, this place holds it own and is a viable takeout option if you're in a fairly lazy mood. Yeah, the fried rice was a bit "meh"...I'll actually take the blame for ordering that in the first place, since Chinese fried rice is rarely all that flavorful even on the best of occasions. The Singapore Mai Fun was a step up though, with about as much spice level as one could hope to encounter in Clarksville. I genuinely enjoyed eating that dish, in a Chinese-comfort-food sort of way. The crab rangoons were not bad, either. One thing you can't say that King Mao skimps on is the portion sizes. I can say with confidence that two full-size entrees should be enough to feed a family of 4-5...or a couple for 2-3 meals of leftovers. Also a bonus: check out the legit arowana in the aquarium while you're waiting to pick up your food! read more

King Mao has been dependably consistent with great food and portions. I used to want to go to the buffets, but that is no longer a destination when I want some asian food. The prices are fair, the food is quick to come out of the kitchen cooked to order, and they even deliver if you want them to. That beats the hell out of going to a buffet and not getting fresh food if you are not there at peak times. I have eaten there and gotten take away. The environment is sparse, but clean so I have had no problem staying there. I have to laugh at Christopher's review and his description of some of the locals that visit the establishment. I can honestly say that I have never been uncomfortable there, but then I'm an average everyday kind of guy so I probably just fit in! Sooooo Much Food!!!! The food itself would only rate about 3 stars, but here in Clarksville Tn that's actually one of the best for a Chinese food restaurant. I added a star for fast, easy online delivery and the sheer amount of food you get with your orders. We had enough for lunch, dinner and a snack the day after for 3adults and 2 teens at just 26 dollars. Best chinese food in Clarksville. They gave me so much food I ate on it for THREE DAYS. If you grab a menu before ordering there are coupons inside. I told them I had never ordered from there before and was a little weary of trying new chinese food and they gave me a huge bag of wontons for free and MAN those things were good. We waited for a while for our food and it was take out- but it was cooked when we ordered it- not before. And I liked that. Really though, the food is delicious. Definitely WORTH THE MONEY. This is pretty decent Chinese restaurant...probably the best in Clarksville, though I've been to a few. I had sesame chicken with roasted pork fried rice and an egg roll. I hate egg rolls, but King Mao's egg rolls? I do like them. Their sesame chicken is a bit spicy, unlike others....but it wasn't OMG spicy that I couldn't eat. Their fried rice was good, too.....roasted pork may have been a bit rubbery though. I would definitely go back there. read more

We am originally from NYC, where I personally think we have the best take out Chinese food and the fact we also have Chinatown is as good as it can gets! We PCS'ed here almost 4 years ago and found it hard to find a Chinese restaurant with even the same style of cooking as back home. We did however find one that at that time was better tasting than most around this area, the downside for them in my opinion -- was their soups were too salty and tasted funny. King Mao's menu was on my front door one day and I decided to give them a shot, it cannot hurt to try it once. We ordered the Roast Pork Egg Foo Young, which came with BROWN sauce (just like NYC), General Tso chicken (nice and tender and spicy), Pork Lo Mein (just like NYC) and Beef and Broccoli (also nice and tender) -- all lunch specials that came with our choice of soup. It all smelled delicious! Got home -- tore the bags opened and I must say ... I was in HEAVEN! I have finally found my new take out Chinese spot! Almost everything reminded us of home! Their egg rolls are not made the same as NYC, but that's okay because I'm more a spring roll person. Their rice was almost similar with the exception, we New Yorkers make ours with a drop more oil and a tad browner in color. The soups were very good, not as good as New York's, but better than the other places. They do offer the free cheese wontons with a purchase of $20 or more -- but I guess if you don't remind them or give them the coupon they forget. Needless to say, I did order take out twice that week and the following week! Their spare ribs are good BUT just a tad too sweet; their chicken wings are really good but need to minimize on the salt when it comes to the fries; sesame chicken is delicious and so is their sweet and sour chicken -- OOH and their crab rangoons and fried dumplings are cooked perfectly -- YUM YUM!!!! But remember ... that's just my opinion and YES ... Today, I was back again and will be many more times. A friend of mine texted me the other day because she was home sick with her kids and was craving Chinese food - I recommended King Mao's to her and as she would put it ... "My kids and I are very happy campers -- the food was SLAMMING! THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH"! Well I was happy to hear that! My advice would be -- DO NOT FORGET THE FREE ITEM(S) OFFERED WHEN AN ORDER IS OVER THE REQUIRED AMOUNT. Your customers should NOT have to remind you of that. Ordered some take out from here yesterday based on previous Yelpers comments and ratings, as I was staying with my daughter and didn't know any place in the area. Thanks to my fellow Yelpers for suggesting this place. We were happy with the food we got. My wife got Cashew Chicken. Literally scores of cashews and she liked the dish. I am not a big fan of Chinese food as I am not a vegetable fan. They were very happy to make me a dish of just spicy beef, mushrooms, onions, peppers and water chestnuts. Very good! Lots of large pieces of all of the items. Next time we are in town and want Chinese, this will be where we get it from. And oh yes, don't forget to try their homemade sauces! read more

New to the area and chose this place because of the reviews. I ordered my food at 1538pm and it's been over an hour. Called the shop and was told that the driver left awhile ago. He called the driver to find out where he was and called me right back. I never understood why delivery could take so long when it takes 5 mins to make the food. I ordered the General Tso meal and the beef and broccoli meal. $21.00 plus free wontons. They forgot my S&S sauce. The general was good, but the fried rice has a weird taste to it. Not great but not awful either. The lo mein smells and tastes like feet. The dumplings are weird and not what I'm used to. They have a mush inside of them. Doesn't look like meat. Ordered from these guys multiple times - all delivery - and they've delivered hot, tasty, and inexpensive food every single time. Let's keep it real though, it's mostly mass produced food and while it still tastes good, if you're picky or want originality then you're prob not going to like Kings. If you are hungry and enjoy big portions of Chinese classics, then you'll prob be happy with this place. Side note: Only once did our order take excessively long but we ordered during a busy time. The food is quite good - the best Chinese food I have found in Clarksville (which isn't saying much, I suppose). The portions are also generous and the prices are reasonable. However, I have never waited less than 45 minutes for the food to be delivered (I don't even live that far from their location), with the longest wait being an hour and 20 minutes. With that said, the drivers have always been apologetic and courteous. If it wasn't for the delivery issues, I would give them more stars. I would suggest ordering before you are even hungry so you're not starving by the time they come. read more

Out of all the Chinese food I've tried this by far is one of the best ones. Delivery takes awhile about an 1 hour or so.
