After reading the good reviews, I was looking forward to hiring King Affordable Movers. I sent in my request to work with them. I called to follow up. It took her a while to find my name. She finally did and said I would get a call back. Then, an hour later she sent me an email as if we never spoke. No one called me back. I called again this morning. He could not find my name. I waited again while he spoke to his supervisor. After 10 minutes he said there is no information about my move in their system. The move is tomorrow, so I had to quickly find another company. They wasted my time and potentially put my move at risk. Terrible customer service. read more

My first time using this movers was overall very good, despite a bit of mix up with communication. So, I chose to use them a second time when I had to move less than a year later. This time was not so great...it was in late February and I have waited to leave my review to see how things are resolved. First, the move itself took much, much longer than the movers anticipated and quoted for. part of that I believe was because one of the guys (who were all very sweet and kind, by the way) had been out drinking the night before and was hungover. They were nowhere near as speedy as the first crew I had, but I appreciated that they stuck with the job even after it took longer than expected. I ended up being charged more than twice the quote, which was not a happy thing. But the real problem was the time it took to deal with a lost screw for a foot of my couch and damage to my bookcase. The couch issue had to be resolved by my family member who visited in March...ok, not a huge deal, but a little frustrating. I had been told on the phone that the lead of the crew was on vacation, so that was part of the delay, and that he would come to look at the bookcase. that never happened. it took multiple calls and emails over a number of weeks/months....So, i finally received an apology and the movers wanted to replace the broken bookcase with something they had found. I was a little leery of that as I couldn't see it in person first and didn't know how it would match my other furniture. So, I agreed to accept $100 instead. It's much less than the cost of the unit they found me on Amazon, but I just want to wrap this up and choose my own bookcase. I agreed in writing via email, but today I received a document they wanted me to sign that included a statement about "not retaliating" with the company name online. I'm sorry....leaving an honest review is important. And I am completely disgusted to find they are trying to buy silence....especially after I have been incredibly patient for months. And paid them way more than expected. Not happy with these ethics. An honest review is an honest review. I would have been much happier to say there were some issues but they were taken care of. And if it now means they refuse to pay what they owe me, than so be it. There is a contract saying what they owe for damage and if I need to pursue another way of being reimbursed I can do so, without them trying to control my leaving an honest and factual review. This should have been handled differently from the start. read more

I was looking for a moving company relatively last minute for Labor Day weekend. Moving from the north shore into Boston during that time isn't easy! King Affordable Movers was great to speak to over the phone and provided a realistic estimate rather than an automated overpriced one that many other companies provide. The morning of, they showed up early and worked FAST. They were extremely professional and kind, and we ended up paying less than our expected estimate. I've sat on this review for a while. I did not want to leave a review based off of a gut reaction. First, they arrived late. Initial arrival window was from 1-3 and after 3 came and went there was no communication with the movers. I had to call to get an update on where the movers were. Movers arrived at 5 PM. First set of movers were lovely and working really hard so I was going along with it, no complaints just making sure they knew all that needed to go. It was a hot day so they were moving a little slow, and I don't blame them for taking it slowly. But about an hour and half in to the move a second crew showed up to help, which, again, I didn't think anything of. They assisted the first crew in the move and things really started to pick up speed. We get to the new house and they put everything away. Some stuff was not where we directed them to, but it happens. There were a lot of people in and out moving stuff in and it was hard to keep up. Come to the end, we are settling up with them and come to find out we needed to pay for the extra crew after 5 PM. I did not know this was part of our agreement and it also became our fault that we had so much stuff and that all of it was so heavy. I was disappointed in the experience especially since they had only 5-star reviews and I had high hopes. I'll just say for smaller moves I'm sure they are very lovely, but with a larger move like we had I will use a different moving company. read more

Since the issue with my desk arose, the owner has been very communicative and willing to help us resolve this issue. They offered different solutions and kept checking in to make sure that we were moving along to get the desk fixed. With the pandemic and my work schedule, things took a bit longer than expected but I got a 3rd party (not affiliated) to come look at the desk and fix it. The 3 young movers from King Affordable Movers were courteous and so careful! They were quick and considerate. We paid the extra $36 for.plastic wrap and everything stayed scratch free. They were even able to get a very big dresser up a tight pair of stairs! We made a move that was half an hour away. These guys are AMAZING, the real deal. They work hard and fast. Last month, Jose and Matteo (sorry if I'm getting the names wrong) helped me move from one apartment to the next. It was a freezing cold day (legitimately 5 degrees out), but they were so efficient and had the entire move done in only 3 hours. Not one scratch on my stuff and nothing was broken (and I had a lot of stuff). They wrapped and then unwrapped all of my big items for me with plastic wrap and even stayed a little longer to help me reorganize things in my apartment a few different ways. They were the nicest, most accommodating guys. I can't believe they work 6 backbreaking days a week. So they definitely deserve the biggest tip possible if you can spare it! read more
