Found this Jim a few years ago and although they do offer CrossFit classes, I was more interested in their sweat class. It's kind of like CrossFit but uses kettle bells and dumbbells with a lot of cardio and bodyweight movement. Going into my mid 40s I was looking for something that would up my cardio and be a little easier on my joints than heavy powerlifting. Everybody here is very welcoming and encouraging! Great gym located in downtown Renton right by Ikea. Offer cross training and sweat classes (bodyweight hiit type). Good class times, clean and friendly. Coaches are nice and welcoming and it's a great environment. Highly recommend if you're looking for a gym with a wonderful community or a place to drop in. read more

Went to this gym. Misleading, thought they were supposed to be Crossfit but they were not. Class felt short, did not sweat. Little to no instruction during class workout. No guidance and felt unsafe. Do not recommend this bootcamp gym. read more

This is my 3rd review of King Crossfit so I'll try to keep it short. The workouts are always tough, but I always look forward to it; To finishing it that is! There are days when I'm tired and don't want to workout, but auto-pilot brings me here and I have no choice but to do it to get strong and fit. I always tell people who 'think' about working out, to just go and stop thinking about it. Stop making excuses. Crossfit is easy, because what you need to do for the day is written on the board, and everyday it is different so it never gets boring. How much is your health worth to you? Would you pay now to get into shape, or later for pills or medical treatment to save your life? I also just can't get over how much I love the people here. There are so many amazing, diverse, and genuine people here who inspire me everyday by how hard they work and the support they give to one another. It is truly family-oriented and new members and visitors alike are always welcomed. All you have to do is walk through the doors and just be you. It would help to let them know you are coming though since the place can get really busy at times. read more

I started working out at King Crossfit about a year and a half ago. Prior to joining, I was very intimidated by the rumors of the "hardcore" sport and was skeptical on whether or not it would be a good fit for someone like me, who has never played sports or did anything active for that matter. I was a bit hesitant joining King CrossFit for various reasons; 1. I weighed about 100lbs. 2. It felt intimidating and 3. I didn't want to bulk up and get those crazy looking muscles! Well, I discovered the saying; "Don't knock it until you try it" is the mere truth! All my preconceived notions had proved me wrong. I am nine months into my training and to say the least, I LOVE IT and continue to fall in love with it every day. I've been exposed to something that I truly enjoy doing! I dreaded going to the gym because majority of the time I didn't know what in the hell I was doing and what those machines were for, hiring a trainer wasn't in my budget, and working out alone gave me zero motivation. Everyone assumed since I'm "skinny" I don't need to work out, well, let me tell you that being skinny does not mean being fit and healthy. When I first did (SCALED) baseline (3 rounds for time - Run 400m, 30 air squats, 20 sit-ups, 10 push-ups, and 5 pull-ups) I felt like it was impossible to complete the remaining rounds after my first. I was so out of shape it was ridiculous that I couldn't even execute these basic movements and it was an eye opener. I love and fell in love with King CrossFit for countless of reasons and I don't know where to begin. I love how they gave me the opportunity to know my body better, I love how they reach out to you in FULL DETAILS if you are doing a movement wrong, I love when the coaches get on your ass and push you because sometimes we all need that "extra" push, I love the feeling of accomplishment after a WOD and I feel more in harmony with myself, I love the love, the sense of belonging and the positive energy, I love that it is a community where everybody wants you to succeed and even though it can get competitive EVERYONE helps you with knowledge, support, advice or just the opportunity to be your friend. I love that I know that I am not alone and we all share the same fears, accomplishments, trials and tribulations, thoughts, success, pain, achievements, and struggle. Being a member at Kings I am surrounded by people just like me and people that share my interest and fears, people that strive for the same, and people that started the same journey that will be there for me if I trip along the way. Be prepared to fall in love with this box. To the knowledgeable coaches, the professionalism, the warmth and camaraderie. Not to mention the hot bodies: all reasons the rest of the world hates us. Ok but if you're like me, maybe not so hot, just motivated. Coaches are attentive, all about form over ego. Members are an incredible group of human beings, radiates sunshine and true grit, all the same. Not to mention, it's pretty much an adult playground, with the exception of the last person left is cheered on rather than ridiculed. This isn't the stereotypical Crossfit full of bros. I had been struggling for years to find a fitness program after being a collegiate track athlete. I was always trying to find that next "step" in my fitness so to speak. I tried LA Fitness, hot yoga, boot camp, classes, running in my free time, training with Team in Training, but nothing ever really stuck with me. I missed competition and having that edge. Nothing made me look forward to the gym. In November of 2010, I started looking into kickboxing gyms after being prompted by GroupOn that it was the next hottest fad. With a little research, I wasn't sure it was right for me and stumbled on a local gym focusing on CrossFit while weighing my options. Their website raved about their family setting for people looking for results. One statement really caught my eye, "Check your ego at the door - Everybody sucks at something, so be prepared to handle it like an adult when we find your thing." This reminded me of my college training and I thought what the heck. I signed up for baseline. Now almost 2 years later this gym has become part of my life. I've changed my eating habits and workout routine. I've made friends and they hold me accountable for my fitness goals. I even get emails if I skip for an extended period of time. I am in the best shape I've been in since 2005 and my endurance has increased for those long runs. Class sizes are motivating and the workouts change every day. I first started working out at KCF January, 2010. My coworker is one of the owners and he invited me to come in and try the intro workout called Baseline. I was completely wrecked, but knew I wanted to keep going. Two and a half years later, I consider that to be one of the best decisions I've ever made. I am stronger, faster, and healthier than I've been since high school and am continually challenged to push myself beyond my limits. Crossfit for me is not just a workout, it's a way of life, and that includes nutritional counseling as well. I love it so much that after two years of hearing my rave about it, my boyfriend finally tried it as well and he is hooked now too! Besides the regular workouts, we are encouraged to get "out of the box" and compete in other arenas as well (which is one of the tenets of Crossfit). I have been a part of our King Crossfit coed softball and soccer teams these last two years and have participated with dozens of my fellow WOD-heads in fun events like the Dirty Dash and the Pineapple Classic. The best part about KCF, however, is our community. We regularly get together for gym-wide BBQs, holiday parties, etc., and everyone, hands down, is so supportive. I have formed many, many great friendships at the box and every day I go in to workout it's just fun because I get to see some of my favorite people! Came to King Crossfit during my visit to Seattle and loved the box! The coaches and staff were not only welcoming, but they were very friendly and made you feel right at home. The members were also very encouraging and it was fun working out with them. The approx. 5000 square foot space is located in a quiet warehouse/offices on Lind St with plenty of outdoor space to do runs and sprints. The class starts off with a warm up, WOD (Workout of the Day), then ends with a "Finisher" which today was a partner 200m run/sit ups workout. While I've had the opportunity to visit gyms like Level 4, which is a great facility, the people and the vibe at King Crossfit really made my workout enjoyable. My husband and I joined King Crossfit in November of 2011, we both really enjoy going. The environment is very supportive and friendly, which is helpful because I don't feel so intimidated when I walk in the door. The workouts are challenging and never the same, to keep things exciting and not monotonous. Doing Crossfit and particularly here has change my life health wise and socially. you begin to form a bond with the people you meet here like a family,and when your working out it's a such a great feeling when everybody is cheering you on. The coaches here are amazing they are always focus and making sure everybody is pushing themselves and teaching the correct form before class starts. this place has people at all sorts of levels from beginners to Top Cross fit Athletes. i have never thought i would be able to do the thing's in crossfit i thought it would take me very long time to get it but king crossfit has the best coaches that explains it very well. while some box have only one coach or two teaching here at king you have like 10 coaches sometimes even the members here who done crossfit for awhile seems like a coaches themselves. Every Coaches brings there own flavor to class which is nice adding alittle bit of humor makes it's fun. What attracted to me to King crossfit is that they are very big on checking your Ego at the Door,when i first walked in the gym i felt like i can progress here and felt safe. there was nobody staring at me or making me feel very welcome. Prior to King Crossfit I was working out at one of the globo gyms and never felt fully satisfied with my progression. I was in decent shape, did the basics, bench, squat, deadlift, etc but I felt stagnant with my routines as they've become the same ol same ol. I joined the "Kings" about 1 year ago with the intentions of learning some advanced lifting techniques(olympic lifts like squat cleans, clean and jerks, etc) and to improve my conditioning. Not only was I able to learn the advanced lifts as well as improve my work capacity and conditiong, but I've inherited a second family. You'll find crossfit "boxes" that all offer pretty much the same thing. But the community aspect of this box make this one special. Many of the coaches and members have kids and they bring their whole families to workout(spouses, significant others, kids, parents) which is great way for the family to do physical activities together. The coaches and trainers are top notch and place an emphasis on form and movement rather than focus on who can lift the heaviest or move the quickest and you can tell they care about the progress of their athletes. I thank Glen, Arvin, Ron, the rest of the coaches and team for teaching me and always pushing me. Today I'm in the best shape I've ever been in, I'm also about 15 lbs leaner but I'm faster and stronger as well. I have been a part of King Crossfit for about 4 weeks, two weeks completing the WOD. I have to say that these group of trainers and fellow classmates know what they are doing. The staff watches every move strictly to ensure that you are performing it correctly with proper form and the correct weight. The people that attend this gym by far are the best group of individuals and they treat you with integrity and respect reguardless of your level. I came to this guy from a recommendation from a client. I personally felt that this kind of training is not for me. I was so wrong. I glad that I walked into this gym. Glen, Ron, Michael, D-Bo, Duy, and forgive me if I forget anyone else have made me and my wife very welcomed and motivated. This entire group of people (called the family) have changed my life. It is not like anything I have every been apart of in all my training. I started kcf beginning of august. A month and a half later I've already lost 10lbs. But that isn't the best part. I've made friends with some FANTASTIC people. People who motivate me and push me to better at MY LEVEL, not theirs. I'll admit, my first day I was extremely intimidated. I was outside pretending to tie my shoe 3 times!!!! But after my baseline ( free trial sample) class, i was so surprised at all the support the king cf family has. I felt like I died after baseline...and I knew I had to come back for more. And I did and now I can't stop. Im always scared, but after each class i love the feeling at what i just accomplished and seeing the others feel the same way. I get stronger after every class. King Crossfit is forreall!! I still have a looooooong ways to improve and about 60lbs more that I wanna shed but I'll get there. The coaches are ALL so amazing, I really can't explain how great they are. You just have to come see for yourself. Just try it!!! I love this gym because they always have a great variety of different workouts, and it never gets boring. In addition, the family atmosphere is amazing, as it seems like literally the whole gym goes to competitions to support the participants. Another great thing about this gym is that there are lots of other intangible events that occur, like running clinics, half-marathons, etc that the coaches encourage members to sign up for outside the regular workouts, which help foster the community even further. read more
