I've been meaning to write a review for West End Inn for a couple months now. My boyfriend and I…read morehad a wonderful four night stay here in August. It was our first time staying in a B&B and this place exceeded our expectations. It was a charming little place with six unique rooms. Breakfast was wonderful and made to order each morning. It was about a 20 minute walk from the main strip of Portland, but there was also a good selection of restaurants in the West End. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. They left snacks and coffee and tea out during the day. When I come back to Portland, I will without a doubt book a stay with West End Inn again.

Upon our arrival, there was no one to greet us or direct us to our room. Instead, there was a locked front door and a note saying the entry instructions were included in an email sent sometime earlier. There was also a phone number to call if we needed help. So, standing there on the stoop, in the rain with my wife and our luggage, tired from a long day of driving, I called the number. Milan answered and repeated what the note had said about the instructions being sent via email sometime earlier. So now, still standing on the stoop, I'm scrolling through emails trying to find the one they sent me a day or two earlier. I eventually found a lengthy email with all sorts of information, most of which was irrelevant to us. I sifted through that haystack of verbage and finally found the needle containing the entry instructions and got into the place. Once in, we had to search around to find our room, eventually found it and got settled in, a little frustrated at the experience of getting there. Nevertheless, the room was nice and Milan later showed up (evidently sensing our irritation at the hoops we'd been required to jump through) and told us breakfast was served at a second inn a block away and we were welcome to join them in the morning. We passed on that. If you like the modern e-era, minimal human interaction and packaged treats from Costco, this place is for you. On the other hand, if you're looking for a little nicer experience, you'll be disappointed.

My Mom found this B&B and it was perfect. The inn is quaint, 10 miles away from downtown Portland, Me (2 hours from Boston, Ma) and charming. Each couple had their own room, with all it's 1780's charm, it was cool to stay in an old New England home. Donna the inn keeper is so personable, helpful and welcoming. She made us eggs to order, waffles, coffee, OJ, fruit and rhubarb pie each morning. We were all able to have breakfast together each mornning. It was affordable, a central location and brought us all togeher. I would recommend this inn to anyone and hope to go back again soon. There are 4 rooms, 3 bathrooms, a communal parlor, breakfast room, communal room for snacks, with a fridge, etc.

Hotel prices are expensive in Maine in the summer, so I searched online for more affordable options and went with Quaker Tavern B&B because the reviews looked good and the location close enough to all the key places (airport, wedding site, attractions, etc.). We all had a great time having the house to ourselves. Donna was a wonderful host and accommodated our schedules for breakfast and everything else. She was attentive but not annoying and intrusive, so it's a great option if you want a place to stay where you can feel more independent and not waited on for every little thing. The breakfasts were great! Donna sources many of the ingredients locally, and everything was fresh and delicious. We had a great time talking with her during the meal - she is such a delight. I highly recommend this place, and if I visit the Portland/Falmouth area again I will definitely return to this place.

It has a great vibe. The location is perfect with easy access to 295, the Maine Turnpike and Rt. 1. A great base for exploring Portland or areas up and down the coast. The free breakfast is so so; the coffee is good. I don't use the pool or exercise room, but people seem to like them. The rates hit a sweet spot between the fancier, more expensive places, and the cheaper places you really don't want to stay.

I can go on & on. Management takes all steps necessary to support their leader aka franchise owner who's a major league liar! NFL! He's a sleazy snake! Toddler has tenure @ BWMM, who promises one & does other. Lafayette/NFL team are in kahoots & they're connivers! You will not find any one employee who follows basic Hotel Protocol. I've worked in the industry for a # of years. If any type of incident occurs a report is filed immediately, NEVER avoided. The team above-mentioned will do all to protect selves & leader. Employees undeniably avoid taking action to avoid responsibility! The lack of employees not following protocol lead to negligence!! If by chance someone hits the deck.... It's due to not following protocol. Incompetence at best!! Layfayette is questionable in his tactics!! 0wner must have access to what's called a dump truck given the variables of Maine winters! These dump trucks aka Hoppers~ have built-in mechanical spinners which spread dirt throughout icy parking lots to ensure guest safety & prevent incidents/accidents. Salt Melt is ineffective in 20° icy conditions-totally useless! Due to Lafayettes laziness & Management's failures guests will take a spill. Staffers have a Jeckyl & Hyde personalities. FOH are rarely cordial upon check in. If something occurs a tribe of jackals turn from barely nice to rude. Avoidance-making every effort to skip the vital process of reporting & recording. The Cooperate contact has recorded lines. Beware!! Watch your children in the pool, make sure they don't run around, don't let them walk in the icy conditions which are upon us now! They'll do whatever it takes so as no one is held liable! Horrible guest services! After incidents/accidents~ 1 staffer had her head in the newspaper, another staffer, ultra rude no one filed the crucial incident report. The next day management & owner inform guest an incident report will follow via email. That's not how it rolls! Undoubtedly the concussion, pain caused a "ding-dong" state of mind. K. Lafayette is a practiced liar as is his staff!
