Found this gem during our weekend adventure in Northern Vermont. A mile away from Canada, thousands of miles away from craziness is what they say, and it's so true. The indoor space of the tasting room and the restaurant is designed with a modern approach to a rustic Vermont cabin look and feel. It's both simple and complex and feels just right. The brews are fantastic! They need to get more publicity. We felt that they can give some of big Vermont breweries a run for their money. Black Spruce Imperial IPA is out of this world. Mild, has a bit of a gin zing, a rich translucent amber color, and a whole lot of yum. Other brews are extremely drinkable and delicious as well, you just have to find what songs to you in the moment. Jenn (one of the two hands-on owners) is a gracious approachable host and a pleasure to chat with. We will be back soon!

Stopped in on a Friday night and there were 5-8 people there. Only a small Bluetooth speaker in the corner playing music, you could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. Wasn't a huge fan of the atmosphere, but everything else was good. The beers were quite tasty - I got the Jem's Brown Ale and some Spuce Ale to go. The bartender was very friendly. Overall, if I was staying at Jay Peak or another ski resort and was looking for a lively evening, this place wasn't it. Quieter, and with plenty of solid beers, so it was a good pit stop to break up a long drive.

    Seating set up.

This brewery was known to be superior 8 or so years ago. Us hop heads in CT dreamed about it but never tasted. We were curious, their location was intriguing. It also made us skeptical. So the snow is falling, it's approaching 4pm, the drive brings you up a hill on the dirt road. Add beer to the uncertainty of the moment, it was perfect for anxiety, excitement and first tastes. Draft one was a nitro stout. Yeah, like Guinness but... UNBELIEVABLE. Just that good. Then an IPA close to their origin. Simple. Again, UNBELIEVABLE. Easy sell, I bought each 4 pack available. Asked for a restaurant in Montpelier. The Three Penny Taproom was... UNBELIEVABLE. (Chickpeas, Chicken Nuggs and Hill Farmstead all over the place.) Of course the brewery guys recommended it, and the gas station at Willey's in Greensboro. So we survived the "brief flurry", and a Taproom extraordinaire. The beer is ready for a Connecticut Christmas and will be compared to the beer from Burlington, Stowe and Deerfield. All great brews. The anticipation of enjoying Hill Farmstead beer was just as exciting as the trip and first taste. So, If you need a trip, find them. No complaining about the distance and remoteness, please. It's where they are. Yeah, you can find the beer in other places in state. I look forward to getting it at those spots. I look forward to seeing the brewery in the summer!

It was intriguing to peek behind the curtain and they even offer paid tours. All of the workers we encountered were pleasant and enthusiastic about the products. We loved the chill vibe of the location, as they had an open outdoors area with seating and lawn games, including disc golf and corn hole. There was also an outdoor patio with a couch and stage for live performances. It was a place I could see myself kicking back at on the regular if I were local to the area. The location was not serving food when we visited though a food truck was located on site and said it would be opening in May. They did have complementary bags of pretzels available for guests to take. We also enjoyed the gift shop and the fun merch for sale. We purchased a hat. My husband enjoyed his beer and regrets not purchasing a four pack to take home.

Workers were very friendly and welcoming inside. The inside had some bar seating and some table seating with someone playing piano. The menu has a variety of different sandwiches. I started with a hot chocolate and the elote dip. Hot chocolate was nothing special but was good on a cold day. The elote dip was delicious! Warm and cheesy! Yum! I then ordered the falafel pita. It wasn't my favorite. The falafel was crisp but I didn't love the homemade gluten free pita. It was not fluffy and was just kinda bland. The fries were made well! Thick and very crispy. Overall the atmosphere was nice.

So while on a trip and looking for a spot to grab some lunch naturally we ended up picking this spot. I've been aware of Lost Nation Brewing but it's been since 2016/2017 when I had a beer from them last. To start they have ample parking and have a nicely painted mural on the side of their building. They have an indoor section we did not check that out and instead sat at the bar in the outdoor section. How can you pass up looking into the kitchen and also the wafting scents of burgers, fries and everything else being cooked. Despite a chillier day than most we have had lately it was worth it! Besides their own brews they had guest taps, guest botttles/cans, and even some cocktails including some spiked apple cider for that fall feeling drink. For beer fans they even had a rotating Hillfarmstead DIPA for a guest tap. I ended up getting their Kolsch and my wife got their gose. Both very solid beers and worth grabbing. Food wise they had a couple burgers, fried chicken sandwich, pulled pork, turkey sandwich, hot dogs, and some small plates. My wife ended up choosing the burger and I got their fried chicken sandwich. She enjoyed the burger and thought it was cooked very well. The chicken sandwich was delicious, the fact it was smothered in honey did make it a bit messy to eat but tasted so good! The fries we got were massive and well seasoned and the side of pickles were great too. Would be a no brainer to get either one again if we visit again! Bartender was friendly and we didn't wait long at all for the drinks or food! Well made brews paired along side delicious food, really what more could you ask for? If you visit during warmer weather it appeared they have a huge outdoor area further back than we were in as well! If you like visiting breweries add this to your list to check out!

Ten Bends Beer is a craft brewery in Hyde Park, Vermont that produces small-batch ales and lagers. The brewery's name comes from a neighborhood in Hyde Park and the Lamoille River, which bends ten times between Morrisville and Johnson, Vermont. Ten Bends Beer's beers are inspired by the region and are made with creative experimentation and perseverance. I enjoyed a flight while here: Refractives White Grape: A Kettle Sour Beer with nice notes of Sauvignon Blanc grapes. Tartness isn't too high, which allows some of the aromatic and subtlety of the grape to come through. Cream Puff War Peach: A Double IPA that is brewed with honey malt and lactose, fermented with Peach Puree, and then Double Dry Hopped. The lactose gives it a fuller mouthfeel and pulls out the orange julius, dare I say, peach julius, vibes of the beer. Not too sweet, but definitely on the sweeter side. Green Fountains: A Hazy IPA hopped with Cascade, Mosaic, and Strata. I get strong notes of citrus and pine, finishing with dank overripe pineapple. Dark Daze: An Imperial Stout aged in Whiskey Barrels. Lower in viscosity than a lot of barrel aged stouts nowadays, but beautiful dark cacao, espresso, and fig notes rounded out by vanilla and oak. ______________
