We stopped in for dinner while visiting on a ski trip. It was a cool old time style ski pub inside with some nice local flair. It was busy and we were lucky to get a seat at the bar. The servers a bartenders were very friendly and accommodating and made sure the food I ordered was safe for me to eat, due to food allergies. I tried the local hockey mom seltzer which was tasty and not too sweet. For my meal I had the maple cider pork chop which was the perfect portion and delicious. The pork was tender and the glaze was the perfect touch. The home made apple sauce was a nice addition and was so fresh. Finally the garlic green beans were a top choice to round out this dinner. If we have time we will go back because apparently they have the best burger in town and it sells out everyday. read more

Had the displeasure of sitting behind a professionally dysfunctional family recently that I can only imagine was the Robin L train wreck below. The family was gnashing and tearing at each other from the moment they came through the door and continued when they had to wait 8 minutes for an unreserved table. When the restaurant had the audacity to not have meatballs, the trollish husband went apoplectic on the server who was a lot more measured in her response than I'd of been. They had to call in the owners to calm the small, meatball-less guy down and when he and his cabal were exited the crowd cheered. I finished my mussels which were wonderful. read more

I discovered the Belfry last April when I was in town for a bike ride. We ended up going back for dinner the second night too! The food was all delicious and had large portions. Basket of Bread- delicious! A fresh baked mini baguette served with a delicious dipping sauce. Garlic Shrimp- shrimp are well cooked and well seasoned. Wings- I haven't tried them but my friends said they were delicious! The Belfry BIG salad- amazing! Super fresh and delicious, especially with blackened shrimp. I highly recommend the maple vinaigrette. Beyond burger- Delicious! Bacon jam burger- I have not tried this, but it's a favorite of my friends The deserts are absolutely incredible- maple cream pie and peanut butter pie are both some of the best deserts I've ever had! read more

I have always loved the NY strip steak here but I am going to find a new place because tonight's experience was very negative! Since the new owners took over a few years ago there is an 1 1/2 only policy on the tables, which is very rude! Then, we had a nice meal and when the bills came divided up by groups, the couple who paid cash was charged a credit card fee! When we questioned the waitress, she said it was policy. I asked to speak to the manager and was told that the Owner was the manager but he was busy in the kitchen and she gave us $3 of her tip money to compensate! This is the opposite of service, it was condescending, it was sneaky, since it was not printed anywhere and it ruined our night! I have recommended this restaurant to many people, I have dined there many times but if the Owner thinks that this acceptable, he is sadly mistaken! We won't be back! read more

It was not good. This is a locals place where they expect everyone to go by their unwritten and unwelcoming mores. If the food justified the haughty and ambivalent attitude, it would make more sense, but the food was a 4/10. I would avoid. I've never seen servers snacking on twizzlers and hersheys while on the restaurant floor if that tells you anything about how seriously they take their business. And mind you, these are not Golden Corral prices. In retrospect, the name should be "Bats in the Belfry" as two of the servers seemed totally unhinged. read more

Yummm! This restaurant is amazing! It's always busy (at least during ski season), so you have to make a reservation. The food is consistently good! So good, we went back to dine three times in a single weekend. Their food is always fresh and made to order. They make all of their own sauces and desserts are homemade, too!! They don't have too many gluten free options, but they have enough. I would love if they started carrying an organic gf pasta and maybe a bun for their burgers! They do have some organic options (their salads are organic), which I REALLY appreciate. I wish more restaurants used organic food. We tried several things on the menu - all delicious! Service is also great and the atmosphere is casual, so it's totally okay to go in as a ski bum, or not! We are looking forward to stopping in again next year (for the 4th year in a row)! Solid 5 stars!!! We've done a lot of traveling, and eating out in new places can be scary. To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement. This place is a total gem. Marty's Maple BBQ Wings might be the best BBQ wings I've had. I want to eat a bowl of the BBQ sauce with a spoon. I'm not a burger person but this burger was 5/5 and the onion ringers were perfection. The wait staff was friendly, helpful, and fast. Pretty disappointed with the service at this restaurant. We tried calling to make a reservation numerous times right when the restaurant opened at 4, and no one picked up the phone. When we showed up at 4:45 and asked for a table for 4 (and a baby) they said they were "full for the entire night" although the restaurant was basically empty. Not the first time we have had difficulties finding seating at this place - would not recommend. Staff is also unfriendly especially towards out of towners. You're at the base of jay peak, get used to it. read more

Spotted this place while vacationing at Jay Peak. I opted for the Jay Peak Burger--how fitting--and union rings. The burger was hot and juicy. The seasoning for the burger was spot on!!! The onion rings--the real variety, not imitation--were hot and crispy. I was puzzled by the pairing of the burger and onion rings with coleslaw. Must be a Vermont thing. But hey, it worked. It was fresh, crunchy and delicious. I'll definitely drop in again whenever I'm in the area again visiting. Service was friendly and the wait time for my food was sufficient. read more

Came here with a reservation on a Friday night during a weekend trip up to Jay Peak. Was pleasantly surprised that they took reservations and that we were able to snag one for a party of six during prime time. We showed up and we're greeted and seated right away. This place is very small, the atmosphere is bustling and cozy. Seating arrangements were cramped - likely because we were a "large party", everyone at our table and the table next to us had to play musical chairs when nature called. The cocktails were fairly good (the only redeeming quality), draft and wine list very small. Appetizers were reheated frozen food. My chicken pesto sandwich was average, the steaks that our friends got seemed alright as well. Service was less than stellar. We're a group of young adults who clearly came to eat, drink, enjoy (and spend money here) and were rarely visited by any member of the staff. It didn't even appear that they were short staffed which would've been understandable given the climate of the lingering pandemic, it just seemed that we were inconveniencing every member of the staff during our few interactions with them. We weren't even given water, which we asked for at the time of sitting down, until our dinner plates were finally cleared. It may have been an off night because some of the other reviews suggest a great experience but I doubt we'll ever make the effort to come back. read more

But if you are going for dinner it is best to keep your expectations low so that you won't be disappointed. Last night we enjoyed a wonderful romantic time here. It was our first time here. We are recent transplants to the area. The whole experience was delightful . If I could do 4.5 stars I would. Tried all the places near Jay while on a ski trip. This was my favorite. It's got a fun vibe and atmosphere. Food options are decent. Good bar and drinks. Good service. Reasonable prices. Far superior and less expensive than the place closer to the Jay Peak resort, but to the east. Daily specials and they take reservations. Call ahead for dinner on the busy ski weekends. Only thing I'd fix is the fries being undercooked. We had pasta dishes and burgers and cocktails and all were solid. read more

Fantastic all around. Super friendly service. Spinach and artichoke dip they had on special was one of the best I've ever had. Girlfriend got the NY Strip Au Poivre and it was perfectly crusted and seared on the outside and medium rare on the inside. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner here last weekend while staying at Jay Peak. She had the Spicy Scallops and I had the Steak Au Poivre. Both were the best entrees we've had in recent memory. The French Onion Soup was also outstanding, made with real homemade stock that was rich and flavorful. The service was also excellent throughout the evening. We were given 2 drinks on the house (which was totally unnecessary, but appreciated) since we waited a whopping 10 extra extra mins for our table to be ready. I had the French Onion Soup (skip), the cheeseburger (meh), and the brownie sundae which people have raved about. Where are you from that this brownie sundae is the best you've had? Go back to Canada and stuff you face with Poutine. Seriously, it was just OK. Nothing about it was outstanding (fudge, ice cream, brownie). I ate it all - don't get me wrong. I belong to the clean plate club and it was all edible. The beer selection was OK. Again, the service was good. So no complaints there. I just didn't care for the food. Too bad!
