So I did a quick search and found Nocturnal which was the old Sunrise Grill that was sold. The inside has been revamped and has a pub feel to it. I sat at the bar and ordered another Heady Topper since they were dealing with the VT bureaucracy trying to bring in and sell their own beer. Perusing the menu, it looks like most of the items are barbecue related. I ordered a fried hot chicken sandwich. It came on a soft roll and required eating with a knife and fork because the amount of fried chicken overwhelmed the roll. The chicken was perfectly fried and crispy with a great sauce transmitting good heat. I ordered corn bread to go for a midnight snack. When trying the bread in my hotel room later that night, I couldn't eat it. I think the chef used a tablespoon instead of a teaspoon when adding salt to the batter, which was disappointing because I love a good corn bread. I'm guessing this was a one off and will try it again. I'll be back in Stowe this summer on the bike and will try Nocturnal again in order to provide an update.

Apparently so was the kitchen as the poutine was on our table like maybe a minute later. This poutine was a crime against humanity. A French Canadian is sobbing just thinking of this poutine. We knew we were getting waffle fries going in, no issue there. A single digit number of cheese "curds" and an under-seasoned, burnt to hell gravy later and I truly wish I hadn't been so hungry or I'd have sent this back. We ate around the offending gravy, grudgingly consumed the curd droppings and just went HAM on the waffle fries, 0 out of 5. We literally crossed our fingers and jesus when the brisket platter was set down. Brisket itself was lovely, though some spots were a bit dry. 3 of 5 Mac and cheese was gritty and clearly came from a box and/or the most undercooked roux of all time, that said it was passable 1 of 5, I've had worse.
