I wanted to find the best Asian restaurant in Missouri. My wife said that there was one in the Springfield and so I searched for it on Google and this is the one that came up. I should have known when I pulled into the parking lot when there were only one or two cars that this was a warning sign. However, when we were greeted by the one employee by the cash register, being very friendly - like, that maybe I was wrong. But my fear was fulfilled when we received our food. My son had lo mein noodles and my own dish was cashew chicken and my wife had General Tso's chicken. The chicken looked like it was all manufactured chicken from the same source. Then the "cook" put separate sauce on each of the chicken's to make it look like a different dish. My son started to eat his meal and he had to stop because he said the noodles had a chemical taste. I tasted it too and I agreed with him . So we shared our meals with him. The drinks came in styrofoam cups rather than glass or plastic glasses. The meal was served on Melmac type of plates that had separations on them to put each part of the dish, rice, entree Etc on the plate. For some reason silverware was not available on our tables nor were napkins. We had to search for our utensils and for napkins. The napkins were at another table and the silverware which were finally given to us by the cashier register employee were forks that had tongs that were bent. There were two or three portable air conditioners around the restaurant area that we're on the floor. Because of this they wouldn't blow directly on the individuals eating and create an uncomfortable atmosphere for the customers. The restaurant must not be central air conditioned. I can't imagine how these last few weeks have been with the over 90 degree temperature in the Springfield area. We happened to be at the restaurant when it was 70 and 80 degrees. All in all, the restaurant was not at all anything like I expected it to be. To say it would be the number one Asian restaurant in Missouri is a real stretch. It is real plain and really not at all what you would expect for being number one. I must say the price was reasonable but it is what you would expect for such a average or below-average food. We should have taken my son's dish back and ask for an exchanged since it tasted chemical like. One other thing is my wife had a bone in her General Tso's chicken. Not what you would expect in a dish such as that. I cannot at all recommend this restaurant for anyone to go eat at until they improve their food and surroundings. We will never go there again. It is a sad restaurant. Whoever voted this the number one restaurant in Missouri must be part of a scam. Because it certainly is not. read more

Took home a call-in/pickup order tonight for dinner. Ended up with egg drop soup instead of Hot N' Sour soup. Egg rolls wwere okay and general chicken was decent. I will say there pot stickers were pretty good. Won't be going back. read more

Honestly used to love this little restaurant and now since I've moved back I've gone a few times. Recently went in to order my order was not what I ordered they had to go back and fix it and I waited over 40 minutes for food. And it was a simple order it shouldn't have taken as long as it did. read more

This is the absolute worst chines food I have ever had. The only reason I gave it one star is because I can't give it 0 stars. I would be happy to never eat here again. I ordered take out from this restaurant for the first time. The order was ready on time which was nice, but when I got the order home it was wrong. My boyfriend ordered fried rice but got steamed and I didn't get the fortune cookies that I PAID for. The quality of the chicken was not great and the shrimp was mostly breading. Always go with your first instinct. I should've turned around and walked out like a couple after us did. We ordered our dinner and they showed us where the drink fountain was.. I wanted ice tea with my dinner and they had none and when I talk to the young lady they had no plans of making anything. Then she told me soup and salad came with our dinner.. oh my goodness the soup and dried up lettuce had obviously been sitting there all day.. I should've known when I had to go through several sets of silverware to find clean ones.. they have several awards hanging on the wall and I would be willing to bet they printed them up in the back room! Absolutely horrible. So many Chinese restaurants to choose from in Springfield do not let this ever be one you choose. read more

A few updates from earlier reviews: Importantly, there is no longer a buffet (at any time). There is, however, a very limited soup and salad bar. The hot and sour soup was decent, as was the egg drop soup. The crab Rangoon's filling was very sweet. Kids liked it, adults did not. The cashew chicken was on the better end of the spectrum for Springfield. Good quality meat and well balanced sauce. You can get other chicken dishes with grilled or steamed chicken (instead of fried). I tried the grilled chicken with the hot and spicy meal. The sauce was hot, pleasantly so, and not cloyingly sweet like so many tend to be. However, the chicken was really not good--rubbery, flavorless, and just weird in texture. I went in here a while ago with my husband and our two grand kids. This covid-19 scare has really got me worried, and it didn't help when we saw that none of the staff were wearing masks and there was no social distancing in the dining room. The food was good, but I would not recommend going if you're worried about covid. read more

Stopped here with my girlfriend as we are passing through on our way west expecting one of those all you can eat buffets. Was not what we expected at all, though they do have a little soup and salad bar, and was incredibly surprised at how good the food is. We got the Broccoli and Beef and the Chicken Teriyaki and both were extremely good. Restaurant is really clean, the food is made pretty fast, and the gentlemen that waited on us is extremely nice. This is my second trip to Kings. They messed up my drive through order both times. This time they shorted me an entire entrée and my extra eggrolls. I tried calling, but their phone goes to a LONG voicemail, which is full. I paid $69 and $20% of my order was missing! My suggestion, answer your phone and make it right. read more

To say that I received great service here would be an understatement; it was probably the best service I've received in the last year! Just fantastic. I (as well as the guy in front of me) were treated like long-lost friends. The place is somewhat nondescript from the outside, but the inside is very clean and comfortable. The food was terrific. COVID-19 is no excuse for waiting more than 2 hrs to have an order made. I could see if delivery drivers were in short supply or backed up but as of March 22, 2021 this is the second time in a wk this has happened and I've ordered the exact same thing. They hadn't even printed the order out by the time the driver got there. Someone is seriously dropping the ball at this place! I think instead of making orders as they come in they must be making orders they think are more important or larger than others which is a huge mistake. read more

Stopped in for lunch yesterday for the first time ever. I had the combo with vegetable lo mein with tofu. The girl that took my order was conscientious enough to ask me if I am a vegetarian (yes, I am). She offered me a substitution for the egg roll and warned me that the egg roll had pork in it. I was impressed by her concern and conscientiousness. The food was terrific. I ordered mine spicy and it was really good. The atmosphere is rough, booths have seen better days, tables wobble, things are old - dare I say "grimy" too from what seems a LOT of years in business. The soup and salad presentation is slightly awkward also in a rather dilapidated buffet case. If you're an atmosphere type, this place will disappoint on a grand scale so maybe save this place for take out. If the food tastiness and friendliness of the staff is most important, then you'll be just fine here. Ordered food online to pick up thinking this would save time over the drive through but it didn't, once I got there they hadn't even looked at my ticket so I had to wait another 15 mins and they didn't care. Decided to try somewhere new(to me) for lunch yesterday. The place was clean and the drive thru was far busier than the lobby. Unfortunately, it was the guy working the counters first day--maybe at any job. Once I got my order squared away, my food was delivered to the table quickly. I had general chicken and it was really good. It had cabbage and carrots which is a nice change for most places that are chicken and sauce only. However, I can't say much good about the crab Rangoon and eggroll which were included with the combo meal. Both were overbooked and it seemed the Rangoon had been sitting for some time. I liked the general chicken enough to try this place again. Oh my, I've never had such Asian food before. Maybe it's because I've never had Midwest Asian food but the General Tso chicken wasn't what I'm used to anywhere else. It was fried chicken tenders with sauce on them, and the lo mein was severely overcooked flat noodles with a garlicky sauce on them and no veggies. Maybe this is status quo in Missouri and hey, it's a drive through, but I ended up tossing most of it. We stopped here on a rainy Sunday evening amid some less than exciting nearby prospects. Immediately we were welcomed warmly, and the host was friendly and jovial, helpful and quick. We asked about getting extra spicy General Tso's, and it was indeed excellently spicy. The cashew chicken was tasty and you get an egg roll and cream cheese wonton with your meal, which we were pleasantly surprised by. Food was served quickly and by friendly waitstaff, and we left full and satisfied. If we weren't traveling through on a roadtrip, we'd definitely be back. read more

Came here tonight on a date. Right off the bat I noticed the decor. The restaurant is bright and well decorated. The floor plan seemed open and family friendly. I was greeted by a young lady who was delightfully cheery. I ordered the shrimp lo-mein, which was reasonably priced ($5.99+tax) and came with an egg roll and two Rangoon. Also, there was a complementary salad and soup bar that was at no additional cost for dine-in guests. The salad was a simple iceberg salad which I topped with shredded mild cheddar, fresh broccoli, croutons and ranch dressing. The soups available were hot and sour and egg drop. I got a bowl of egg drop and a bunch of the fried "crunchies" to put in my soup. The soup was good, and has a surprisingly more egg whites than I am used to in egg drop but it was delicious! I was not even half way through my soup and salad when my shrimp lo-mein was delivered to my table, and it was a very generous portion!! I also feel the need to add that it had several HUGE shrimp, which was a surprise. The egg roll was pork, I think, and the Rangoon a were filled with an ample amount of cream cheese. I didn't taste or see any crab inside but they still tasted great! I got a water (because I don't drink soda) but the machine looked like they had a good selection. The delightful gal that took my order came by and checked on me to make sure everything was tasting good. I highly recommend this restaurant if you love good Chinese food!! read more

Aside from the ultra-friendly staff, there's absolutely nothing to brag about here, and certainly nothing warranting a rating above three stars. The food is neither terrible nor great and the restaurant itself suffers from a worn, decaying feel: tables are in substandard shape, decor isn't particularly inventive and the neighborhood is suspect. I took three friends who are MSU students and Chinese nationals. They all said they would return. The eggplant tofu was very good. I'm not a huge vegetarian, but if you are, I'd visit just to try that dish. The heater didn't seem to be working on our visit, but I can't lower my rating on something the owner can't control. Restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. Everything is cooked to order, so don't expect quick, cheap Chinese. We had our order in less than ten minutes. Dine in included soup and salad. Yuck. The food was not good. I ordered General Tso's chicken and a combination appetizer. The chicken was very salty , the sauce tasted like it was from a concentrate that was not mixed correctly. Took my family here after church. Staff was immediately accommodating. My wife and I ordered a couple of dishes to share. We had the Sesame chicken and shrimp lo mein. The all-white meat chicken was breaded and sauced very well. The chicken itself was tender and juicy and tasted very fresh. After ordering shrimp dishes at other restaurants in town, I expected little salad shrimp that were either dehydrated or the consistency of chewing gum. To my surprise, the lo mein noodles came with a generous portion of large perfectly cooked shrimp. Dining at the restaurant afforded the opportunity to take advantage of their soup and salad bar. It was not extravagant but a nice addition to a great meal. There are more dishes on the menu that I look forward to trying.
