Just came here for a quick healthy lunch with my partner. This place is almost too good to believe--fresh whole fruits and vegetables at better prices than you'd pay for fast food. We each got a salad, one vegan and one tuna, and two $2 smoothies (!!! $2 !!! That's not a typo!!!) We chose blueberry-banana. Such a treat! I had no idea the person taking care of my order was the owner until I read the reviews. A friend recommended this place to me so I placed an online order for pickup. Upon arrival, I was letting them know I was there for pick up and I was trying to specify what I ordered and the guy behind the counter immediately interrupted me and told me how much I need to pay so I asked him if I can pay with Apple Pay and then he started ranting out of nowhere and said that I'm not supporting small businesses by paying with Apple Pay and that I'm making big corporations richer. If using Apple Pay as a form of payment is such a big problem then why even have it as an option?! I would have appreciated it if he would've respectfully educated me on that so I could've gladly used another form of payment but instead he decided to be very rude and go on a rant about it. It was my very first time going there and he left a very bad impression. I didn't say anything because I was really confused as to why he treated me that way. Although my friend recommended this place, I should have read the reviews before ordering my drink as some of them do state that they have also dealt with someone rude. The smoothie was good which is why I'm giving a 2 star review. I have also seen the way this business responds to some of the bad reviews and it comes off as very defensive. All I'm asking is for respect to be given to your customers going forward as this seems to be a recurring issue. This place rules. I love to come here after a hard workout and order a smoothie to go. It's a nice treat during these times. Instead of doing a class or Going to the gym I workout at home and then reward myself with a trip to see Mr. King! I get something different every time but the one I like the best is called The muscle. It's also very covid safe... workers work behind plexiglass and even then always wear masks. I've seen Mr. king himself multiple times on my trips and he is always wearing a mask. Further, I really love to support a business that supports the community. There is a community fridge outside kings juice bar that is a resource for anyone who is hungry. It wouldn't be possible without Mr. King himself as he pays the electric bill for it and supports the volunteers who keep it stocked. read more

I ordered a smoothie from here last week. I came in and ordered my smoothie and then saw in the back there was an espresso machine. So I got excited and asked the girl if I they made coffee. She said yes. And then I asked her for a latte with oatmilk. She said of course. Then a few minutes later she asks me how I liked my coffee which confused me because it's a latte. Then she hands me a drip coffee with creamer and milk. Somehow my bill came out to $17. I was already late somewhere so I couldn't tell her that's not what I ordered and that I was highly overcharged. She seemed a bit confused, I'm not sure. The gentleman there is rude and unprofessional, let's start there. I think he might be the owner. So we'll call him Owner Dude. The menus and the prices are outdated. Owner Dude seemed to have an attitude, as though I owe him something. I stumbled upon Kings this afternoon while walking through my neighborhood. The store sign/awning looked colorful and it read jerk chicken along with smoothies and fresh juice, so I stopped in. Owner dude was on the phone and it took him two minutes to even acknowledge and assist me. When he informed me they were out of jerk chicken, I ordered a juice priced at $6 that came out to $8.71. After questioning Owner Dude about it, I was rudely informed me that the price had gone up and the menu I was looking at was from 2016. The menu was right there on the counter, and it said what it said! Why do you still have menus from seven years ago, but then cop an attitude when someone refers to that price point? Make it make sense!! Thankfully I didn't spend any money there, nor will I ever. I want to support local business, especially those of my people, but the unprofessionalism is completely uncalled for. Only reason I gave this place two stars is because the smoothie was really good. First lets start with whomever was behind the counter, I think it was the owner. He was on the phone didn't even greet me when I came in and there was no one else in there so it wasn't too hard to say hello. It was my first time there so I wasn't exactly sure how the ordering worked, I saw the "sweetie" and i asked if it was a smoothie, he quickly snapped at me saying it was a juice and then pointed to where the smoothies were on the menu. I started to give my order and he stopped me mid-way through saying you want a build your own, i guess because I didn't want the wheatgrass it made it a build your own. I finished my order and he asked me what size I wanted I say the 16oz which was on the menu, he then said we only had these sizes, pointing the three cup sizes on the counter, guess I was getting a 20oz then. I went to pull my wallet out to pay with my card and he says we only take cash, despite the fact that there is a sign on the door that says they take credit cards and contactless cards! WTH!! He then says there is an atm across the street. I walk across the street to bakery to use their ATM and then return back to purchase my smoothie. The owner is now on the phone with someone else talking about they are discriminating against him. And still barely no eye contact. He hands me my smoothie (without wearing any gloves used to handle food...gross) and surprisingly says' Thanks and then goes back to his phone conversation. Terrible customer service and false advertising (sorta). I enjoyed the smoothie but not enough to ever go back there!!! They may have an "A" in being cleaning and an A for the smoothies, but they get an F from me for customer service, which in my opinion is the most important thing when it comes to dealing with people. read more

He said it wasn't written on the paper...that's not my mistake as the customer. Then he proceeds to tell me that me waiting behind the glass is rude. I should've just asked for my money back then. Owner was wearing a mask on chin and another customer (who seemed to be his friend) was NOT wearing a mask. When I confronted them about wearing masks, he was defensive and rude. He said he doesn't want me as a customer trying to tell him the rules, when in fact it is NYC law to wear a mask in a public place. His door also says masks required to enter, smh. You wanna order?!" Only to reply with "do what? I just placed an online order." As a longtime Ridgewood resident, I gotta say that King's Juice Bar is an essential part of our neighborhood. Mr. King always has an encouraging word to say and the menu has something for everyone. My kids love the $2 strawberry-banana smoothies and since they're so affordable we can get them all the time! I also really appreciate the pass-thru window that Mr King built...it keeps us all safe during a time when it's scary to go into places of business. Great salads and juices for a low price. The owner however is a douchebag. When I walked by one day I saw they were closed around 2pm. So I called the following day to see if they'd be open.. he answered and I said "hey just making sure you guys were open because I saw the gates down yesterday" he replied "yeah emergencies happen, can I help you?" I said no thank you and hung up. I understand running a business can be stressful but keep in mind that it's all about CUSTOMER SERVICE. So being sarcastic or having a rude tone of voice does not help your business thrive. Instead, you'll get a poor review like this because you choose to be an ass to a customer. Their açaí bowls and green juices (The Hulk and Green Goddess) that I've tried are perfectly delicious and refreshing every time - I appreciate that the staff asks how much ginger you would like before they prepare your juice; that's quite thoughtful! King's is the perfect place to stop on my way home from nearby Blink Fitness, or for a quick healthy breakfast on weekdays. You can even email your order ahead of time, which is great when you're in a hurry. I don't know what some of these low reviews are talking about; every single time I come here the entire staff, including the owner, is extremely friendly and welcoming! Workers seem like they enjoy being there and want to give you the best possible drinks/experience. This review is only based upon my experience of terrible customer service from one specific staff member there today. I went inside and was greeted by a very friendly young person when i came in. They were very nice and as soon as i picked out from the overhead menu what i wanted, i asked the staff member what was the price of the juice i requested. Another person, a man that was also behind the counter answered very nastily "the prices are on the menu". Mind you, this is the first time ive ever been to this store. I said where are the prices? And he starts reading in a nasty tone all of the prices. I did not ask for all the prices, I asked for the price of the one specific item i was interested in buying. At this point, i did not let him finish, and i said ok, nevermind. He then gives me a sarcastic "ok merry christmas!" (Which we all know is code for "ah, f@#$#& you" and to be honest, my "you too" was the same in return because i was so angry.) A suggestion for future reference, its much easier and better customer service to just answer the question of price by saying "sure, its ___ dollars, and if you need further information all of our prices are here" than what this person did. My friend and I ordered here via UberEats for the first and quite possibly the last time. We saw they had jerk chicken and figured we'd try it so we got jerk chicken with potato salad, a grilled cheese and juice. It turned out to be $30 or around there but it wasn't even worth a penny. Why? First bite into the chicken... and it's chewy. Disgusting. Chicken that is cooked PROPERLY falls off the bone and if you press onto it, should break easily. That was not the case with this chicken. It wasn't pink at all, but was definitely undercooked. I pressed onto the chicken and it was hard to break, even with my fingers and a fork and knife. On top of that, they added a regular salad instead of potato salad which isnt as disappointing as the chicken but that was utterly disgusting. I've already contacted UberEats about this instance since my friend is sick by it... great job, you guys just lost two customers. Disappointing. Update on 12/10: As he mentioned below, he asked me to message him explaining what happened and I did... he wasn't apologetic in the slightest.
