This bar is located on Beale Street in Memphis it has a cool feel to it & a live band plays here also. If you in Memphis stop by & have a drink.

A friend and I made this our base of operation a long night of drinking on Beale street. What caught out attention at first was it had one of the only open walk up "beer to go" bars we could find. Secondly the music was outstanding. This girl was absolutely blowing up the fiddle. Killin' it!! The bartender was extremely nice and informative about the area and sights to see. The place got crowded in waves. As soon as the band would take a break there would be almost nobody in the entire bar with in the next fave to ten minuets. The band would start back up and the place would fill up quickly. After about 8pm there was a 3 dollar cover to keep the riff-raff out... On another note, the restrooms. The mens was so bad. It was literally right behind the stage, so the sound was completely deafening. The door didn't lock let alone shut. I walked in on at least two people and visa versa. Kinda embarrassing. But hell, after a couple drinks nobody really cares any more. This is a great bar and music venue. Just be a little weary of the rest room and stay safe.

I always get a cup of gumbo and catfish here. The food is good especially the gumbo. This is a nice spot if you are on Beale and want a sit down type dinner.

We enjoyed this place so much our first night on Beale St, we ended up coming back for our second night! The band was so good! The service was quick with refills and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd expect from a place that looks like this. We really had a good time here while in Memphis.

This place is not your typical bar on Beale...that is both a good and bad thing. Let me be clear, it is a dive bar for sure. And it is one of the few places that still allows smoking...so every clothing item you have will reek for weeks no matter how many washes (and so will your hair). To put it in perspective, the bartender was chain smoking all night. I've never seen a bartender smoke behind the bar. It was odd. But he was gruff and it suited him well. Anyways, the food isn't that good and really expensive for what it is...but you're on Beale...so I guess that is how they justify the high prices. And the drinks, well, they aren't that cheap either and the pours aren't exactly heavy. So why am I still giving it three stars (which is a pretty decent rating)? I actually don't know...I just like it. If I break it down into segments, yeah, I hate the smoking, and the high prices of the food and alcohol, but there is something cool about this place...and not just because of the naked lady painting hanging on the wall above the bar...maybe because it is more laid back than other places on Beale and seems to have local regulars that the other bars lack?

The thing I notice is that they are very inclusive. They have several nights including karaoke, comedy, drag shows, and various event nights throughout the week. The owner is super sweet and inviting. She made sure to go around and speak to everyone that was there. During my visit, I did order food. I had the chess club sandwich. It is served on white bread and is filled with salami, bacon, gouda, lettuce pickle and onions. It was ok. It took forever for it to come out. People who had arrived way after us received their food quicker than we did. I had to go to the bar several times to ask about our food. I found out that the bartender was also the cook, so that semi explains the delay. I had a salad along with my sandwich. It was ok. I couldn't eat it all because the dressing was not good. I do want to state that it is a cool place to dive into if you are looking for something to do throughout the week. I not sure if the food is meant to be the central focus, but they so have vegan options in addition to a full craft and alcoholic beverage menu.

Here's a clean, strong review that keeps your energy: Hands down one of the best spots in town. The beer selection is top-tier--something for everyone, whether you're into classics or trying something new. The food is next level, especially the fries... easily top 3 I've ever had. Crispy, flavorful, and addictive. The atmosphere seals the deal: great music, high energy, and the fact that they're open until 3am is a game changer. Best part? The service is always on point. Unfortunately, we were met with one of the rudest bartenders I've ever encountered. As soon as we sat down at the bar, the bartender--a Caucasian woman with a short haircut whose name I unfortunately didn't get--greeted us with an attitude that immediately made us feel unwelcome. Instead of providing friendly service, she was dismissive, impatient, and rushed us through placing our to-go order. She informed us that we could not eat at the bar, which was completely fine. We agreed without any issue and ordered our food to go. However, when my food arrived, I simply opened the container to make sure my order was correct before leaving. She immediately rushed back over and aggressively said, "Didn't I tell you that you could not eat at the bar?" I hadn't taken a single bite--I was only checking my order. Rather than politely clarifying the policy, she continued to scold us and make us feel like we were inconveniencing her simply by being there. We still hadn't even received my friend's food, yet she seemed more interested in lecturing us than providing basic customer service. Once my friend's food finally arrived, we left as quickly as possible. As visitors in town celebrating Pride, we expected a welcoming atmosphere and basic courtesy. Instead, we experienced hostility, impatience, and a complete lack of professionalism. There's a huge difference between enforcing a policy and treating customers with disrespect, and this bartender clearly doesn't understand that distinction. The food may have been fine, but the service was so unpleasant that I would never return or recommend Bar Dogs to anyone looking for a friendly place to eat or have a drink. Customer service training is desperately needed.
