Another super fun Elite Yelp Event. Bardog Tavern in downtown Memphis which is known for its cozy pub vibe and solid comfort food. The food hit the spot, we did enjoy some of their popular picks like: Warm sauté onion soup. penne pasta. And deli subs. All fresh ingredients. The best ; A sandwich stacked with bacon, egg, ham and cheese, a Grilled chicken Club was hearty and flavorful, it must was the breakfast slider- and the grilled cheese, with layers of cheese and spices and the Bloody Marys are ...Yumm!!! The laid-back atmosphere, friendly staff, and late-night hours make it a favorite for locals and visitors. I'm sure there is also live music on specific nights. We enjoyed the atmosphere. Hats off to another Exceptional ELITE Event!!!

    Snow storm in Memphis

One of a few places open in the "Snow Storm" in Memphis. Us from Colorado snickered at the 6 inches of snow. But the owner personally drove to pick up his staff. It was awesome. Customer for life here. Best staff ever.

We had our Yelp event here yesterday, and it was a lot of fun! Bardog is in Downtown Memphis, and it's a must try for anyone that loves the bar scene. Bardog is standard as far as noise level and has an adequate amount of space. There are two floors, with the bottom floor having its own bar and available for private events. The servers were nice and the food we had was great.

Had the best shot I have ever had here!!! Give it a try. It is called "The Mel". The service was great. Sat at the bar. The atmosphere is dive bar but a good dive bar. Definitely go here if you are in Memphis.

Great atmosphere for hanging out with friends and getting a good bite to eat. I liked the Mother Clucker sandwich which was a good portion and very filling. The service was good too because the bartender came over to my table to confirm my order after I stepped away from the bar because there was a substitution. Overall, over my many visits, this was definitely one of the best.

Classic 10/10 always hits the spot. Glad you can pick between 3 & 5 I think before you just got 5 automatically.

    MONSTER Vegetarian Burrito

I was tired of all the BBQ and southern fried goodness my friends and I had tried while spending a week in Memphis. We decided we wanted to go to a more authentic and local place and found this gem. We stopped in here on a Friday evening. The upstairs was very busy so we headed downstairs where there are several tables and another full bar. We were quickly seated and given our drinks. Bardog is divey (I do LOVE a good dive bar), but the food is anything but standard bar fare. There was something for everyone's dietary preference in my group. The menu features several cuisines including Italian, Tex-Mex, and American. There are vegetarian options available and I chose the Monster Vegetarian Burrito with a side of asparagus. It's filled with pico, black beans, rice, shredded cheese and other veggies. Of all the places in Memphis, this was the best meal I had hands down. Our server was fast and had good recommendations. Food and drink prices are very reasonable, especially considering its proximity to the tourist haunts. I would definitely recommend.

After needing a break from the downtown area, I stumbled upon this spot for some food and drinks. It is dive bar vibes, the bartenders are awesome, and the food was tasty after a long day out. I enjoyed my time here, and not to mention the free shot I got to take with the whole bar really added to the experience. I would come back here if I am ever in Memphis again.

    Any eatery worth its salt...

Bottom Line: If you're in downtown Memphis, this place is worth a stop for a late afternoon refreshment and very solid food. Found this great place literally tucked away in the streetscape. It's got great, old time, city public house feel (despite the "tavern" moniker) with lots of dark, warm tones. Very decent beer selection in bottles and on tap but they really ought to have more than the obligatory Guinness as a dark offering (I.e., Porter) but this is not a show stopper as the Yuengling on tap was a decent stand in. They also have plenty from which to pick your poison in cocktails. The food was solid--well prepared, generous portions, and I have to say, crafted with obvious care in prep and presentation (you get way less and pay a lot more in supposed many star restaurants). Note, throwback alert, smoking is allowed in the main level bar but there is a non-smoking section downstairs though only one guy was actually smoking so it was not even noticeable--and hey, it's a bar!...so don't come here with some fancy-shmancy yuppy new age sensibility--love it for what it is. Give these guys a try.

The food however was honestly meh (in my opinion). I got a creole dish and to be fair my dish looked beautiful. The plating was 10/10 but the taste for me left something to be desired. After eating this dish I questioned if I even like creole sauce because it really just wasn't that good. If this is a preference issue, I honestly don't know. I also thought the charcuterie appetizer had a weird mix of items on it from club crackers, to meat and cheese, and random veggies. Not bad but just kind of a weird mix. My husband ordered the salmon and he said it was good, not the best he's had but it was good. Other friends of ours got the white fish among the many other dishes. I did have a salad with these apples on it which was incredibly yummy. I will say though my dish looked amazing some of the other dishes were not plated well. Not to nitpick but to want to be considered a more upscale restaurant which means charging guest more money than say a local Applebee's then knowing how to appropriately garnish or drizzle sauce to elevate at plate is important (see my picture of the chicken dish). All and all not my favorite restaurant but definitely not the worst!!

After leaving a nearby bar, our group stopped in simply looking for food. The restaurant was virtually empty, yet the manager, Charles, insisted that if any of us sat near one another, we would be considered one large party and could only have one check. I explained that we had no problem sitting at separate tables, and each table would gladly have a single check. That should have solved the issue. Instead, Charles instructed an inexperienced and unprofessional server to scatter us throughout the restaurant and warned that if we interacted between tables, we would still be treated as one party. From a management standpoint, this decision made no sense. Rather than maximizing an opportunity to generate significant revenue, leadership chose to create unnecessary obstacles. Ironically, spreading us throughout the restaurant would have required opening multiple sections, increasing the workload on servers and support staff instead of simplifying operations. Leadership sets the tone for a business. Good managers solve problems and create positive guest experiences. They don't create barriers that send paying customers elsewhere. At the end of the day, every business has one primary objective: to generate revenue while providing excellent customer service. Unfortunately, this experience demonstrated poor judgment, inflexible leadership, and a missed opportunity to earn the business of 24 guests who simply wanted a meal. I hope Curfew reevaluates this approach because customer service, common sense, and hospitality should always work together.

Later during the meal, he admits that Momma's is one of his spots, so that's saying a lot. It sort of looked like another bar/restaurant from the outside, but they have a nice outdoor patio overlooking an old decrepit building which is at least some scenery. Once inside, you'll quickly see it's highly decorated and has a claim to be one of the only trucker themed bars in the US. Inside is decked out to the ceilings with signs, neon, old mirrors, collectibles, and many other items. I swear it looks like it's been in business for 30+ years, but my client said only a couple of years. I looked over the basic menu and saw burgers, breakfast, salads, sandwiches, a famous pork chop, wings and a few other items. The client and my colleague quickly ordered devilled eggs, cheese curds, and chili cheese fries. The first two apps were really good, I didn't try the fries though. They had a burger of the day, and a food special of the day, but I settled on the wings. With those I chose the 10 pc, Buffalo with dry rub, smoked. Kind of a weird combination since most people usually order dry here apparently, but I like saucy wings. When they come out, they are huge and I knew I wouldn't be able to finish them. I think I could only eat 6-7. My colleague had a ribeye steak salad which was a protein bomb he loved, and my 2 clients ordered a big rig grilled cheese which he also loved and a fried chicken sandwich (firebird) which looked really good. If we had been able to make a reservation, that wouldn't have happened. The employees were all nice though. Our main waiter and the waitress helping him were attentive and got what we needed. One thing that really disappointed me was that they were out of brisket (told us after we placed our orders) and half our orders had brisket. We had family from the west coast here and the whole point of going to Memphis BBQ was for them to enjoy southern BBQ and I feel they didn't get the whole experience. Another thing, our waiter specifically said he put the 3 kids meals on one order so they would come out first... guess which ones came out last out of all 9 of us? Yeah, the kids. And the food was piping hot for them so they barely ate anything by the time we were all done with our meals. Which our meals were actually good. Except the water. Has an awful chlorine taste to it. Lastly, weren't we supposed to get complimentary pork rinds? I completely forgot about that until after we left or I would have asked for them. It wasn't a horrible experience, but we've definitely had better and we'll probably be back sometime.
