The service was great and the drinks were even better. We tried the Mai Tai, porn star martini , frosted Jake to name a few. The star of the show for me was the Frosted Jake. I hate writing this because I really like this spot, but people should double-check their bill. I came in last night and ordered the Ube drink. According to the menu, it's listed at $14, but my card was charged $20.54 before I even added a 20% tip. I attached screenshots of the menu, and my bank statement for reference. I understand mistakes happen, but being charged over $6 more than the listed menu price is unacceptable, especially when the bar wasn't busy. I was really disappointed because I've enjoyed coming here, but it's hard to keep supporting a local business if I can't trust that I'll be charged correctly. Where do I start!? I first came to Cameo for date night and I was impressed with the rather vibey northern bar feel. We had a burger and two old fashioned drinks, which we both enjoyed. The service was quick and the service was great! I came back after the Cooper Young Fest for happy hour with my girls and was so pleased to see that they have happy hour from 4-7 EVERYDAY! Another Friday outing with the girls took us to Cameo for happy hour. It was a little empty as we arrived right at 4p but it didnt stay that way for long as I can see why. The place is small but inviting. The music playing through the speakers was like they had my spotify synced. All of my favs were playing. (Shoutout to whoever was respnaible for Melanie Fiona album The Bridge being in rotation. That's one of my favs). We were all pretty hungry so we ordered The Cameo Cheesburger and fries. It's a really nice sized burger and definitely will help soak up the "liquor" lol. From 4-7pm you get half off selected classic cocktails. I started with a French 75 and it definitely did its job. There is a cocktail on the menu called Rage Quit ($10) which simply states secret and danger. Well we decided to all try that and let's just say the danger snuck up on us lol I also had a Cosmo which was delicious as well. By this time we are felling really good but need to use the bathroom. We then discover there is a photobooth in the back area. It was pretty comical trying to get all 3 of us in the frame. Honestly, this was not the review I expected to write. Cameo had been on my list to try since it first opened and after 3-4 canceled/rescheduled drink dates with friends, I finally went. I had heard nothing but good things, and for the majority of my time there, it was great. I ordered two espresso martinis - the draft one that they do some sort of mix with something. I'm not really sure how they made it, but it was excellent! Not everyone can do an espresso martini and it's easy to mess up, but they overwhelmingly succeeded. The bartender making the drinks was a bit rude and standoffish, but I didn't think too much of it. I appreciate at least a little friendliness and customer-facing personality, but it is what it is. The issue? The posted price for each espresso martini was $14. I bought two. Tell me why my bill was $41... Well, the prices are not inclusive of any taxes or fees, which in my experience is so misleading in a bar. That was an additional $7, on top of the automatic gratuity of 20%, which is what I would normally do, but was tainted by a price that wasn't honest in my opinion. In addition, a friend ordered my second one and told me explicitly that he paid for it, yet it was also included on my tab; I was happy to pay for it, but being charged twice for the same drink just furthered the dishonest feel. In summary, the drinks were fantastic. The service was eh. The charging/pricing was absurd. read more

To start, the place has an exceptional ambiance. Warm during the winter, and quite intimate. Their basket of fries come seasoned and are a good option with their assortment of drinks. Their classic burger tastes a bit like a homemade burger with all the fixings, and it's quite tasty. Service is solid, and they're open late on the weekends. What a cute little place in Memphis. If you're looking for a different kind of vibe than your typical Beale Street option, then this is for you. It's a quirky, fun, delicious little bar that is worth a visit. I happened to visit on tropical Tuesday and I have to say they go all out. They decorate the bar every Tuesday just for this night. They also create a separate cocktail list that you can order from. Unfortunately for me, you have to be a sweet drink person to get these because all of them are pretty sugary. A drawback to this theme is that you can't get their regular house specials that night which were more to my taste preference. It was a bit loud in the space so a conversation between two people wasn't possible, but luckily they had a few tables outside that we enjoyed until we got attacked by mosquitoes! I visited Cameo last night for the first time, and it is such a beautiful space! Think dark velvet, mahogany, and gold accents. We sat at the bar, but there were small tables and booths for those seeking a more intimate experience. I loved the unique decor I ordered a Cottage Core Bikini cocktail, which was lovely! My mom ordered one of the rotating frozen drinks -(Pina Colada), and my 2 friends ordered non-alcoholic cocktails. Everything was super good, including the N/A drinks. I'm glad this place exists--Memphis needs more artisanal cocktail places, and the vibe/decor is great. The food menu is also much better than it has a right to be--everything I've had off there has been great. The drinks, though, are just not good. Unless you like unbalanced, licorice-forward drinks. These would not pass muster in other cities. The service is also terrible, which clashes with the decor and the owners' open and affirming social media presence. The service is consistent with Memphis and especially Midtown but seems at odds with the vibe that this place cultivates. Combined with the clique-ish crowd (which admittedly is more a Memphis thing than specific to this bar), it just makes you feel unwelcome. read more

Friday, Feb. 20, 2026: A nice little quaint bar, and I will probably visit again, but their bartending isn't the best. It was pretty crowded so I understand trying to get drinks when everybody trying to put in an order and pay. However, the oddest thing happened. I ordered two drinks and I paid, but the bartender told me he would bring them out to me. I didn't quite understand why since everyone before me paid and waited for their drinks while he made them. He repeated the statement, so I couldn't do anything but go back to my table with friends. Of course, he forgot about us, and after about 30-40 minutes my friends and I decided to go somewhere else. I go back to the bar to request a refund and the bartender said he will bring them. After realizing I probably wasn't going to get a refund because of his insistence, I went back to the table and my friends and I continued to wait another 15 minutes until they finally arrived. For the price, the drinks were "basic", if they were that. We should have left after the first long wait without attempting to get the refund. Bottom line, I do not understand why my table had to wait. I don't want to say it was a "racial" thing, but I do believe it was a "clique-ish" thing, since I noticed several groups at the bar looked to be regulars. And what's up with the automatic gratuity when you have to get your own drinks? I certainly would not have given such a generous tip after waiting for almost an hour for two watered drinks. read more

I absolutely love this spot - for a variety of reasons! Obviously, it's a cocktail bar, so I was expecting the cocktails to be delicious and fun - and they were. My friends and I also got the absinthe shooters, which were awesome (and better than anticipated to be honest). The staff is amazing: super friendly, funny, and attentive. The bartenders stationed around one end of the bar so I had to flag one down but they were engaging once I did. The drink was descent but nothing to remember. It is a signature drink called Everyone's Main Character. The peppered lime garnish was odd and didn't go with the concept of watermelon at all. The food was the worst BLT sandwich ever. The bread was so hard I could not even bite it! The bacon was pretty but chewy and I do not understand the chips on the sandwich. It added no value or taste.
