Kings did a restoration of my redwood deck , It is a rather extensive deck surrounding the house, Rodrigo and his crew was very busy at the time that I accepted his estimate,.. So I had to wait about three weeks before they could start. This to me was a good sign. The deck was only about 4 years old but the heavy rains this winter had really started the mold growth on the wood, Suffices to say, the deck looked horrible although it was structurally sound The work was very extensive and required power washing, sanding and restaining.. This took about 3 to 4 days of hard work. I was very surprised and pleased at how hard the workers tried to make this a first class job (which they did). We needed quotes for our newly built fence, which needed staining to preserve the wood from the outside elements. Rodrigo has been quick to respond with all questions and punctual with all appointments. He was at the lesser end of the spectrum, but not the least because we also had him do a sample test for 3 colors for solid staining before proceeding with the actual painting. Solid staining should effectively protect our fence for 15 years with one coat of paint vs transparent stain which needs 2 coats and would only last 5 yrs. It will need to be stained again. So my neighbor (who shares the fence with me) and I decided to go with solid staining. I liked the original grain of our redwood fence, but it seems the more economical way is to use solid stain. The painting took about 2-3 hours with 2 men for the job. They came at 9 am and was finished at 11:30 am. They were clean, respectful of our property and didn't leave a mess. We're pleased with the outcome and glad this project was painless and quickly finished! read more

Highly recommend Kings Refinish if you want to get your deck refinished properly. Correct pressure wash + sanding + oil-based sealer. Rodrigo was very responsive in setting up the free estimate and showed up on time. He was prompt with the estimate, and then again very reliable on work done over several days (gap in between for drying). Rodrigo was also very professional in his communication and listening. I did not want a red stain. He used a clear stain and explained that without pigment, the wood is slightly less protected. I still chose clear because I wanted my redwood deck to look as natural as possible. It was covered in algae and grime from living so close to the ocean in San Francisco. They did an amazing job of cleaning and sanding. They applied the oil-based sealer by hand - with brushes, some that looked like brooms! They worked that oil deep into the wood. No cutting corners with spray on sealers. You will get quality workmanship. read more

I can't say enough good things about my experience with Kings Refinish. I contacted Rodrigo for a quote and he promptly responded to schedule a time, and then followed up to let me know he was running late and would need to reschedule. I appreciated him reaching out to me and we set a time for later that day. He even texted to let me know when he was on his way. After seeing the state of our deck and handrails he said he'd get back to me with a bid, which he sent me that same night. Once on the job, Rodrigo and his colleague were prompt, detail oriented and did an outstanding job. They spent a full day sanding and prepping everything before they began refinishing. They were careful with the surrounding furniture and tile and left behind no messes. Their work was high quality and I swear our deck didn't even look this good the day it was installed! One more thing- we forgot to shut off our sprinklers and overnight (in between coats of finish) the water splashed onto the deck, pooling and leaving water marks. When Rodrigo showed me the next morning, I was so disappointed and mad at myself for not turning off the sprinklers. He said he'd do his best to try to repair the damage and he did! He was able to get the water spots out and had the deck looking fabulous before he finished the job. I really appreciated his diligence and work ethic.
