Great experience! We booked the Kingsley house for our overnight stay since we visited Holland, MI for the annual tulip festival. I really appreciated the hospitality and the environment this place had. The owner was very friendly & understanding. Even though he mentioned on his site that his latest check in time is no later than 7pm, I still called him informing him that I will be checking in late. He understood and was thankful that he was notified. Once we arrived at the place, he gave us a small tour about the history of this place, which was intriguing. Breakfast was fresh and had great quality of food as well as the variety of the drinks. I highly recommend this place! Thank you, Chuck!

We stayed here in July 2020 (during Covid19) on a Wednesday/Thursday during a trip to Saugatuck. The COVID-19 precautions of the inn is to have all guests wear masks in common areas. Guests may opt to not wear masks in common areas so long as the other guests are comfortable. Chuck always wears a mask when interacting with guests. We stayed in the Granny Smith room, which was very pretty. The room was cozy and clean. We felt very at home in the room and we felt like we had our private space within the inn. The hospitality of the inn was remarkable. Chuck and Sally add the most charming touches to the experience. Everyday, fresh cookies come out at 4pm, there are chocolates to enjoy in the lobby, and coffee/tea to take in the morning. Chuck went above and beyond for my SO and myself during our stay. My SO had a sprained ankle, and Chuck gave us an ice pack in the morning and again at night to ice the ankle. We also had a horseback ride booked at a nearby ranch, and Chuck called the ranch to confirm the location for us. We also had to leave early one morning, and Chuck rushed to serve us our full breakfast so that we could get out the door in time. He was very hospitable. The breakfast was lovely. I am a huge foodie so the breakfast was one of the main reasons why I booked this inn (along with the Victorian architecture). Breakfast started with a fresh baked muffin (java chip with a sweet glaze), a bowl of seasonal fruit, and a premium selection of fruit and vegetable juices. The main course for us was apple cinnamon french toast with a side of bacon. The toast was sourced from a local bakery, and the bacon was smoked and carmelized in house, and rumor has it that Chuck collects the maple syrup himself from Fennville's finest maple trees. ;) I don't normally drink coffee, but another guest exclaimed how tasty the coffee was, so I had to try a cup for myself. And boy was it delicious! I recommend the salted caramel creamer. We did notice that there were a handful of times throughout our stay when we had difficulty reaching the inn's phone number (would go straight to voicemail) for various service needs. It's clear that Chuck puts in extraordinary effort to run this inn and create memorable experiences for his guests. He does a fantastic job. Thank you for the wonderful stay!

This little guy and his brothers and sisters entertained our every breakfast.

If you have an appreciation for history, all things Victorian and adore an excellent, 4 course leisurely breakfast, the Kingsley House is for you! Breakfasts are wonderful and pretty! The porch is a perfect setting, and the service is impeccable! Fennville is The Best place to stay if you are in that Saugatuck, Holland area. It is quaint and quiet and you can actually rest and get away from the constant noise of the larger, more touristy towns. There are near-by wineries, orchards and plenty of trendy restaurants and a home town diner if that is more to your liking. The nearby Crane Winery and Cider Mill is not only noted for their wines and hard ciders but they serve a $7 FLIGHT of PIE! Yes, pie. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the town's ice cream stand, Tasty Treets at the far east end of the main street!

We decided to take a few days of R & R after coming up to Grand Rapids to attend our nephew's wedding, as we hadn't been to the southern coast of Lake Michigan and we eager to explore. We debated staying somewhere close to the water, but when we came across the Kingsley House while we were searching, we both decided that this was just what we were looking for, and we were delighted that they had rooms available for our all too short stay. Chuck, the innkeeper, greeted us at the door, offered help with our luggage (we were staying in the Jonathan room), directed us to cookies and coffee and tea, and offered help with finding dinner (and even made the reservations for us), asked after what sort of breakfast we would prefer (and very willing to accommodate my husband's dietary restrictions), and gave us info about the house, the local vineyards, gave us coupons for wine tastings and generally couldn't have been more accommodating. It turns out that we live near where he and his wife grew up, so we had some fun conversations about that area. All of his advice concerning the area is well taken, we had a lovely dinner at Everyday People Cafe, went exploring along the coast and had a wonderful time. The Jonathan Room, where we stayed, had queen sized bed, and a jetted tub that was wonderful after dune hiking, and looks out over the back of the house. The B&B provides toiletries, water bottles, mints, a fridge in the room for storing leftovers if need be, and an ice bucket, which our host graciously filled for us both nights we were there. There's even a guest closet that has more water, games, and little necessities you might have forgotten. The Kingsley House provides for a lovely, relaxing, and gracious stay for its guests, excellent food, and an attentive and kind host - we will be back when we can, and recommend this place to others.

This review is far overdue as we visited several months ago in January, but it would be a shame to not make sure I did it. My boyfriend and I had a very good experience here. During our booking, they were very flexible, and when we were confused due to a mix up in pricing on a page of their website they gave us the lower rate we'd seen without being rude or difficult. When we arrived there was a lot of snow but we only had a little trouble pulling in, it was mostly shoveled (it was Michigan in January what can you do). The owner was very friendly and calm and helped us with our things and was overall very kind with us. He was also very patient with me when I had a struggle with the blinds, haha. He went out of his way to make earl grey for us each morning since we mentioned we were tea drinkers. The conversation with him and other guests in the morning was great and he had a lot of good things to say. On top of that, the food he makes for breakfast is wonderful! He was very creative with the food (in a good way). I'm glad we stayed multiple days, so we could have it more than once. Our room was cozy, the bed was comfortable, and the fireplace and the tub were great in the chilly weather. We stayed in the Johnathan Junior suite. Walking around Saugatuck in the winter with heavy snow is like something from a postcard. We liked our little walk along the frozen lakefront in Holland. The local eateries were great and we went to a couple recommended by the owner, great suggestions. Especially the places near/in Saugatuck. The quaint feeling here was honestly lovely, we played cards and sat by the fire and it was a great short winter getaway. I'm sure it would be even more beautiful in the summer and we'll definitely be back.

7/27/19 Outstanding historical house. Host Chuck is so friendly and accommodating. Breakfast consisted of a moist blueberry muffin, fruit, coffee and juice, followed by a slice of amazing tasty quiche and bacon...awesome!

Part of the delicious breakfast! Fresh smoked bacon that morning!

Excellent Place to Stay!! Very Clean and Excellent Food!!!…read moreJ. Paules Fenn Inn is a great Bed And Breakfast. My wife, I, and 2 small dogs, kept in a large cage stayed here in late October 2018. The rooms were clean and well preserved. We were able to get a room with sliding glass doors, to allow easy exit/entrance to take the dogs out. Nice and well kept grounds. We need to return in the Spring or Summer to see the great gardens and paths. Several Wineries and attractions nearby to visit. The owner, Ms. Paulette Clouse, was a very pleasant and easy to approach and speak with. Very affordable. Comfortable beds and seating. WE have mentioned this fabulous place to several friends. This was a special place and we can not wait to return.

So I was very pleased to find this inn in Fennville, just next to the Saugatuck-Douglas resort area. The inn is very nice, beautiful grounds adjacent to prairie and fields, and the rooms are quite comfortable. Mine was a shared bath and the bath available was very well-appointed. There is a coffee station upstairs for making single cups of gourmet coffee. And a porch upstairs for relaxing and sunning. The breakfast is served not in the dining room but in an enclosed sun porch.. The food was excellent and the hostess very pleasant. She does own dogs, small dogs that have to kept from the stairs by a doggie fence so guests must negotiate the doggie fence. However, upon sitting down to breakfast, the hostess introduced me to the capsules she had placed at my setting. They were some sort of fruit and vegetable powder or concentrate and she extolled their virtues and invited me to try them at no cost of course. I am not a believer in replacements or artificial products like margarine or weight-reducing shakes or pills, so i thought nothing of it. She explained that they are actually better than real veggies and fruit and claimed that they had the classic curative powers of other type products. She gave me a small supply and wanted to know if she could call me in 30 days to follow up on my progress with them. I was not interested, but I felt her disappointment. She has a small "store" at the reception desk with Eastern medicine products and items to accompany her Reiki services. I wasn't about to sign up for one of those after the nutritional product solicitation. Frankly I think it is inappropriate to be hocking such products at a B&B without asking guests in advance. I have since had need of a pet-friendly inn in that area but will not return for that reason. Otherwise, I thought her establishment was first-rate - it's just unfortunate that she cannot separate her money-making interests.

Amber, one of the owners, greeted us, and is very welcoming - she showed us to our room, the Blue Satin, and told us a little bit about the B&B. The Blue Satin is a suite - you enter from the main building, then go up a flight of stairs to access it. We had a bedroom which was next to a sitting area with a couch and a hot tub, and there's a wall with a fireplace that separates the two rooms. Our bathroom also had a "skylight" of sorts, which was nice because we didn't have to put the regular light on that often. The bed was SUPER comfortable and I especially liked the duvet. Breakfast the next morning had a large variety of things to choose from, including different breads, cereals, drinks (coffee, OJ, milk, chocolate milk, guava juice), and even some hot foods such as eggs, sausage, and tater tots. The Hop & Vine also has a partnership with Fenn Valley Vineyards - they gave us a coupon good for two wine tastings, which we definitely used (nice perk!). The B&B also has a pool and areas for kids to play, such as an outdoor play structure and a volleyball court. If you're visiting with your family, they also have townhomes that you can rent, which are within the main building but have separate entrances. Would definitely stay here again! Everything was super cute and also very comfortable.

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Chef Tim, who got us checked in. Chef Tim served up some excellent breakfasts the next few days!! Sherry, the sommelier, then took us through the complimentary wine tasting that came with our booking. These are wines that she had made, so it was pretty cool hearing about the flavor profiles from her and tasting them! We got to enjoy sitting on the patio and relaxing with some yummy mushroom popcorn that Chef Tim made. The 2023 Single Barrel Chardonnay was my favourite! The rooms are good for 2 adults, but probably no more. Each room has its own bathroom. I loved the white noise machines in the room that made it easy to sleep. There are a couple of common areas: a book nook with a 2nd floor balcony space and a downstairs living room where you can sit, chat, or read some books! There are all sorts of books on gardening, foraging, cooking, and wine! There is also the main dining area where breakfasts are served. Breakfast was amazing. Literally my favourite meals out of the 4 days we vacationed in the area. Chef Tim cooks everything from scratch and all was so yummy! The pastries were such a delight everyday! Seasonal Fruit Smoothie: Fresh berries smoothie! So yummy that I helped to finish my husband's portion also! Classic Eggs Benedict with Lemon Hollandaise & Slow Braised Pulled Ham on House English Muffins: so savory and yummy!! Home made English muffins were the perfect texture in combination with the poached eggs. The sauce brought everything together. So so good. Breakfast Potatoes: oh man. It's these potatoes were perfectly seasoned and I could of eaten a whole plate of them! Scones: super fluffy!!! Chicken Sausage & Grits: I thought I wasn't a fan of grits until I had these creamy savoury grits! The chicken sausage was a perfect pairing. I could of eaten a couple bowls of it! Baked French Toast with Macerated Berries, Mint Syrup, Strawberry Melba, & Whipped Cream: custardy French toast with a slightly sweet berry topping. I loved that the flavors were well balanced and not too sweet! Fruit & Yogurt Parfait: we were spoiled by the fresh picked fruit all weekend. The house made granola gave it the perfect texture contrast. Yummy! Fluffy Quiche with foraged golden mushrooms & asparagus: I have never had such a fluffy quiche in my life. The veggies were perfect.

Stayed here a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend when I found a special online for 2 nights plus one one hour free in-room massage, gift certificate to a restaurant in downtown Saugatuck, and of course the two complimentary brekkies (being that it's a B&B, of course) for $388. Such a steal! The house itself is lovely. Built in the 1870s and renovated a bit but still keeping that Victorian charm. A comfy downstairs sitting area, and cozy dining room and another kitchenette area with a fridge (stocked with complimentary sodas and water), water pot for tea, hot chocolate, etc, and coffee. Oh yay! We stayed in Enid, the largest of the rooms. Very spacious with a sitting area of two chairs and a table, a couple of nightstands, a chest of drawers, a queen sized bed (very comfy and cozy), a fireplace, a small cable tv and dvd player, and cd/radio. It was actually really nice to unplug a bit so we didn't really watch any tv but it was there if you need it. Instead we mostly just lounged around listening to classical music on the radio and Prairie Home Companion. Fit the feel of the room nicely! The adjoining bathroom is a good size too with a lovely and deep clawfoot bathtub (that I definitely took a soak in. AHHH so nice!) and a separate shower. Complimentary bathrobes added to the cozy feeling and the windows had a lovely view for just perching and looking outside. Add that to the most amazing massage ever (seriously, one of the best I've ever had and I'm hard to please) and I walked out of there feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The hosts/owners, Sal and Gregg are just lovely. Really friendly and chatty, I felt like an honored guest. And they are no slouches in the kitchen, either! Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS. The first day I had the eggs benedict (although the smell of the waffles sure were intoxicating!) and the next morning I had the sweet potato pancakes which I had to force myself to stop eating because they were so tasty but oh so filling! The grounds are lovely and I can't wait to come back in warmer weather for a sit on the porch looking at the trees and Kalamazoo river peaking through (while their super friendly kitty Oscar rubs against your ankles--but don't worry cat allergy folks, kitty does not come into the guest quarters. We only saw him chillin' outside). If you've never been to a B&B I highly recommend starting with Beechwood Manor. Although it's likely any others you visit may not live up!
