Normally we would be greeted by the innkeeper,but this year, we were greeted by an employee who showed us the room and said the book on the bed would tell us everything we needed to know. We saw the innkeeper only in the kitchen in the AM when we were to go in to tell her our breakfast choice. After that the only way to communicate was to use the phone on the kitchen island. The room was dusty and the furniture well-worn with buttons on the stuffed chairs hanging on by a thread. The bed was uncomfortable. The breakfasts were basic and the same each day. There was a Kerig coffee machine without any K-Cups. There were crumbs on a covered cake stand for 2 days, without refreshing. The only way for the room to be cleaned was to request it either in person or by phone. The reason given for this policy was that it was for our privacy. Privacy and cleaning policies are not mutually exclusive. The screened- in porch was a beautiful spot to relax or have breakfast in the past. It was less welcoming this time. The only plants were dead hanging Boston Ferns, no placemats anywhere and no other decor. You can find pictures of the previously decorated porch online. The once award winning garden was neglected and overgrown. We have stayed at lots of inns and B & Bs in the MIdwestern region. and have never been more disappointed. I hope positive conditions return to The Yelton Manor. It was a pleasure to visit there in the past.

This visit we stayed in the Hawthorn king-size room. The room had a Jacuzzi bathroom, a comfortable king size bed and a large balcony. Every space throughout the inn is well appointed and clean. Kevin, the innkeeper, is warm and engaging. He sees to your every need and we looked forward to seeing him every day. The breakfasts provided every morning in the dining room are delicious and beautifully presented. Coffee or tea is available anytime of the day in a little room off the dining area. The inn is secured with a keypad on the front door so only the guests have access, and there's plenty of parking on site as well. I highly recommend Inn at the Park.

There are a couple of common areas: a book nook with a 2nd floor balcony space and a downstairs living room where you can sit, chat, or read some books! Stayed here a few weeks ago for my birthday weekend when I found a special online for 2 nights plus one one hour free in-room massage, gift certificate to a restaurant in downtown Saugatuck, and of course the two complimentary brekkies (being that it's a B&B, of course) for $388. Such a steal! The house itself is lovely. Built in the 1870s and renovated a bit but still keeping that Victorian charm. A comfy downstairs sitting area, and cozy dining room and another kitchenette area with a fridge (stocked with complimentary sodas and water), water pot for tea, hot chocolate, etc, and coffee. Oh yay! We stayed in Enid, the largest of the rooms. Very spacious with a sitting area of two chairs and a table, a couple of nightstands, a chest of drawers, a queen sized bed (very comfy and cozy), a fireplace, a small cable tv and dvd player, and cd/radio. It was actually really nice to unplug a bit so we didn't really watch any tv but it was there if you need it. Instead we mostly just lounged around listening to classical music on the radio and Prairie Home Companion. Fit the feel of the room nicely! The adjoining bathroom is a good size too with a lovely and deep clawfoot bathtub (that I definitely took a soak in. AHHH so nice!) and a separate shower. Complimentary bathrobes added to the cozy feeling and the windows had a lovely view for just perching and looking outside. Add that to the most amazing massage ever (seriously, one of the best I've ever had and I'm hard to please) and I walked out of there feeling completely rested and rejuvenated. The hosts/owners, Sal and Gregg are just lovely. Really friendly and chatty, I felt like an honored guest. And they are no slouches in the kitchen, either! Our breakfasts were DELICIOUS. The first day I had the eggs benedict (although the smell of the waffles sure were intoxicating!) and the next morning I had the sweet potato pancakes which I had to force myself to stop eating because they were so tasty but oh so filling! The grounds are lovely and I can't wait to come back in warmer weather for a sit on the porch looking at the trees and Kalamazoo river peaking through (while their super friendly kitty Oscar rubs against your ankles--but don't worry cat allergy folks, kitty does not come into the guest quarters. Josh and I stayed in the beautiful Lake Placid room. Our friends stayed in the spectacular St. Moritz room. Our hosts were so gracious and accommodating (my friend and I both have Celiac Disease and Judine worked with us to keep our food safe for us - I brought most of my meals). Traveling can be difficult with food sensitivities but it was so comfortable staying there. We had never seen the town in South Haven before and we can't wait to make plans for another visit! There is still so much we need to see and of course so much more to do when the weather warms up!

If there were things to do onsite, we were not made aware. We did go on a mimosa hike with the owner but she didn't elaborate or engage with everyone in the group. The staff is only there limited hours and did not provide a lot of information upon arrival. While in the pool the staff came in and had discussions about other people and seemed to do a lot of gossiping, which is in poor taste in front of guests. This may be the place for some people but we would not recommend it.
