I don't usually write reviews, but the outstanding care and kindness I received from everyone on the staff deserve to be recognized. From the day I arrived, every single person treated me with compassion, respect, and genuine concern for my well-being. During my entire stay, I never encountered a single employee with a bad attitude. That alone says a great deal about the culture of this facility. There is a physician and a nurse practitioner who do rounds every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Both of them were never in a rush to listen to my concerns and issues with my recovery- and I had quite a few in the beginning. They even came to the PT area to make sure nobody was left out. That was truly amazing to me! The nursing staff provided excellent care and always made me feel safe and well looked after. Whenever I rang the bell in the painful stages of my recovery, someone showed up in a very timely fashion. Whenever they didn't, I knew it was because they were busy taking care of someone else, not because they didn't care. The physical therapy team was encouraging, knowledgeable, and truly invested in helping me recover and regain my strength. The housekeeping staff kept my private room spotless and comfortable, making it feel like a home rather than a medical facility. The kitchen staff went above and beyond to make sure I had meals I enjoyed. They were always accommodating and often prepared something extra when I needed it. It was clear that they genuinely cared about making my stay as pleasant as possible. I was also impressed by the administration and leadership. Whenever I needed something, they did everything they could to make it happen. Whether it was a special request or simply making sure I was comfortable, they always responded with kindness and professionalism. What stands out most about The Villages of Lake Highlands is the people. Every department--from administration and nursing to therapy, housekeeping, dietary services, and everyone working behind the scenes--works together with one goal: providing the best possible care for their residents. Their compassion, patience, and genuine love for the people they serve are evident every single day. Recovering away from home can be difficult, but the staff made me feel cared for, respected, and valued throughout my entire stay. They consistently went above and beyond to ensure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. I am deeply grateful to everyone at Villages of Highland Park for their dedication, kindness, and exceptional care. I would wholeheartedly recommend this facility to anyone looking for a place where residents are treated with dignity, compassion, and genuine concern. When the hospital was…read moreready to discharge, we learned that not just anyone accepted Humana and that's when Lexington first stepped in to save the day. I literally cannot say enough good things about everyone from those who coordinated the admit with the hospital, to the van driver who picked him up, to the nurses, therapy, administrator, awesome nurse aides, social worker who sat with him when he was lonely one of his first evenings, doctor, housekeepers, and amazing dietary manager/kitchen crew who most definitely made us feel special. Any slight request was addressed immediately. The food was consistently delicious and,even when dad would say he wasn't hungry , he would clean his plate. The activity room was well stocked with some of his favorite things to do during therapy downtime. The front porch gliders were pretty and a favorite place to sit to "watch the cars go by". I'm grateful for this place who took wonderful care of my dad and made us confident we could go home at night to rest knowing he was in good hands!

When looking for a nursing/rehab facility for my mother I looked at reviews and read them all. My…read morehusband said "if you really want the "real" reviews, look at the 2, 3 and 4 star reviews." With that being said, I PRAY you look at, read and take heed of my 1 STAR REVIEW. Please don't fall for the lip service if you take a tour either, we fell hook line and sinker for it all. I'm not saying the people aren't kind, because they are, but kind didn't save my mama!! I 100% believe Lexington, and a nurse on mom's hall who I will refer to as "J" are to blame for my mother's death! When my mama's pulse ox was in the low 50's "J" told me it was because her fingers were cold. It was not!! Some 6 hrs later when I got another nurse, Kay to help, she got my mom on full oxygen and she still only had a pulse ox of 44. I then ran to the nurse's station and begged nurse "J" to call the paramedics and she waited 5 minutes before doing so. (I was told this by one of the aids who was overseeing my mother that day) When they arrived they started bagging my mother immediately and nurse "J" had the nerve to say to the paramedics, "she wasn't that bad an hour ago". My mother died in the ambulance 3x on the way to the hospital, one of those times right outside Lexington's facility. Her lung had also collapsed. By the time they had gotten her to the hospital she had been down for over 24 minutes. She never regain consciousness. This was just the awfulness of that ONE day... there was so much more in the short 25 days she was there. From being short staffed,(1 aid per 2 halls at night) to my mother NOT being bathed for almost 2 weeks, to her being left in her own waste and not being turned for 11 hrs one night, 8 hrs another and 5 hrs another. It didn't get done if I or my dad didn't speak up most of the time! I have camera footage to corroborate, as well as a roommate for the last week of my mama's life. And let me just add here, even though Lexington was short staffed, they continued to take in new patients! My mother's roommate noticed mama coughing/choking real bad one night and rang for help and the night nurse asked her if she was "medically authorized" to ask for help for my mother. Simply appalling. You see, for 2 days we, the family had been suctioning my mama because she had so much junk in her throat. My mom was recovering from a stroke, she wasn't able to move on her own and was MOSTLY non verbal, but she was good when we got to that facility. Within the first week at Lexington she had double pneumonia with sepsis and MRSA (which we had been told through blood work and x-rays she had recovered from all of that after a stay in the hospital) Then she had another highly contagious infection when she died which we found out as we all had to suit up in major PPE gear to be in the room as they took my mama off the breathing tube and our family watched as her heart stopped and she died. I could honestly go on and on, but by writing what I have in this review I hope I can spare another family from the pain mine is going through! My mama didn't have to die that day!!! And let me just add in case anyone was wondering why we didn't get mama out of this facility, she was set to leave the day she died. - [ ]

I'm so grateful that my sister was kept comfortable and peaceful in her final days. And the care team also took care of us, the family.
