Sadly, I was extremely disappointed with my last experience at Kink Salon. I have been going to this salon for almost 4 years and have always had a great experience and a great haircut. Last week, after my hair cut, I realized that my coat was mistakenly given to another client. I unfortunately left my car keys in my coat. I was due to pick up my 1 year old daughter from daycare in 20 minutes and had no way to get to her. I understand that mistakes happen and it was an accident that my coat was given to someone else. The staff did figure out which client they gave my coat to and were able to contact that client so she can return to the salon with my coat. I do hope the staff is more careful in the future with giving clients back their coats. However, what upset me most is that while I was sitting waiting for my coat to be returned, and getting more and more anxious that I would not be able to pick up my daughter on time, the staff came over to me and informed me that they mischarged me for my haircut and I owed them an additional $25. I thought this was terrible service. As an upset costumer, sitting there due to their mistake, I thought it was terrible business practice for them to ask me for additional money. Since they are the ones to have misplaced my coat and to have mischarged me, I think they should have let those $25 go. I kindly expressed my concern and paid the $25, but let them know as a costumer, I was extremely disappointed in their customer service. I am hesitant to return to their salon again. read more

The bob haircut was thick, uneven and I had to keep mentioning I wanted chin length not shoulder. This review is long overdue and I just have to say I have no idea why others rave about this place. I was in a rush to get a hair cut and didn't have time to go to my usual place in the city. So I went to the salon that's conveniently located in our apartment complex. I should have listened to the other residents who told me not to come here. Considering that it's located in Englewood and it's the same price as the salon I go to in the city, it's really not worth the money. I didn't do anything crazy and just got a trim. I asked specifically not to put layers in. Little did I know, that was exactly what my hairdresser did. Not only did she put in layers they were totally uneven. It looked so messy and I felt like crying. I had to put my hair up in a bun for approximately three months before I could get it corrected. I had no idea that a hair trim could do that to hair. My cut was in January and i'm still trying to grow it out. My roommate also visited and the same happened to her. I wished so much that this place would work out since I can receive a 20% discount because I'm a brownstone resident and it's literally right there. I've learned my lesson and no matter how badly I want to cut my hair, I'll wait until my stylist is available. read more

I visited Kink last weekend on a whim. I have to be honest my expectations were set very high when I heard about the prices. The girl at the front desk was really nice but I was thrown off when she handed me a robe. I wasn't asked if it was my first time or even told to sit down, just stood there waiting. I was excited for my shampoo because of the products that they use. The shampooer barely wet my hair and did the most basic, non frills wash. I didn't even feel like my hair was clean. She was also chatting it up with another employee the whole time. My cut was wonderful I have to admit, but I was given the worst blow dry ever, I feel badly mentioning names because the stylist was nice but i walked out and couldn't even run my fingers through my hair. My stylist was super rushed and kept getting interrupted by an assistant. After speaking to my friend who referred me she said she also felt like they didn't a lot enough time for her appointment. If you are spending well over $75 you should get more than 45 mins. Worst part was there was a girl walking her dog who lives in the building and told me that none of the residents go there because they too experienced shotty work. read more

Okay, I found this place through Groupon Coupons on 2011 so I purchased two Groupons as allowed. I made an appt and had Tracy dye my hair and style it she did a great job. I went back another time and Christopher cut my hair great job. Christopher's prices are hire because he has been in the business longer. I went back again to have Tracy dye my hair and I did not like it at first but after one or two washes I just love the color. She really know what she is doing. Pros: The staff are friendly and helpful Cons: The prices cost for each thing example dye $$, cut $$$, blow dry $$$. Who leave a hair salon with wet hair. You have to go to this place with money. I enjoy the salon and the staff but I really have to save money to go there. I know a lot of upscale places charge for a dye, hair cut and blow dry but I don't really see why. I can't say enough about the attitudes of the staff. Everyone is always so friendly which makes for a great experience. I get my hair cut by John Santos who is amazing! John cares about your opinion which is refreshing because you have to feel comfortable with how you look. He always cuts my hair perfectly and offers many other services to a huge clientele. First, let me say that I always go to RJ and Roger Joseph Salon for color. And I swear by him. BUT sometimes I really need a quick fix for a hair style or event. And I ended up at Kink Salon in a major bind. Unexpected surprised. Because they were absolutely fabulous. John did my eyebrow wax. He only uses the sensitive face wax as he specializes in facial waxing only. I had NO bumps or allergic reaction like I normally do. And I had Chris style my hair in 20-30 minutes for up dos for two days in a row. My hair looked amazing both nights. And I got many compliments on his styling. That's all a woman can ask for. Honestly, I'm a major fan. The establishment is chic and trendy. The people all very nice. And the location is convenient. It is NY city priced but for this cool, chic and talented team, i do consider it worth it. And I would recommend both John and Chris for wax and hair styling, respectively. Everyone that works there is so friendly and helpful. Christopher is an amazing stylist. I've always left there with great looking hair and I've even had people stop me and ask where I get it cut! His cuts are always perfect and and are easy to style at home, too. I bring both of my daughters to him, as well. And my mom even goes to Christopher, after many years of going to NYC. I went to her 6 months before my wedding and she helped get my hair healthy and as blonde as I wanted. She gave me so many tips with what I should do at home to keep my hair in good condition. Alyssa is great with cuts I did a LOB after the wedding and I've gotten so many compliments. Only con is I wish there blow outs were a little less.. I am super picky when it comes to my hair. Jon (Santos) is literally the only person who can come near my hair with a pair of scissors. He is really good at understanding what you have in mind and visualize it before he even starts cutting. He will always guide you in the right direction. I always leave the salon with a big smile on my face. The salon itself is always super clean. They respect Covid guidelines. I feel safe going there.
