Seeing my hesitation, I was told that if I did a perm haircut is free. If just color, there is a separate charge. Then the opinion kept changing on whether I needed straightening perm on top of that. I felt manipulated and uneasy. The color did not come out as I wanted - overall this experience was not great and I will never be coming back here again. Prefacing this because my friend doesn't want to make a fuss EVEN THOUGH THEY RUINED HER HAIR and never gave her a refund!! Her side: Checking out the reviews, I booked my last-minute appointment on a Friday afternoon since they were available. Gloria was my hairstylist for the appointment. I showed her my inspiration and asked her if she can achieve this look. I also told her that my hair is permanently black because I was turned away by a few local spots in the area. She said she can achieve the color without a problem. I sat there for a good 4 hours, but something didn't look right.  She started to bleach my roots after 4 hours in. Went for a wash, and that's when I noticed my hair did not look the way I wanted... Not only did my roots look orange, but my whole hair was not EVEN. Also, the lighting in the store is so dark you can't really tell until you get home. I did tell her we needed to fix this, but the store was about to close so she asked if I could come in next week. I wanted to get it fixed asap so I asked if I could come in next morning. This was my inspiration: ( 1st image with blue scribble on the eyes) First visit: (Gloria let her walk out the salon WITH THIS COLOR -WTF SHADE IS THAT) **photos are added for reference I texted her that I did not like my hair, and had the audacity to tell me to come in a week later and come in for the THIRD TIME. I thought about it, but she didn't respect my time and I did not want to go back to this salon at all. I preferred to get a refund and go back to my go-to hair salon (in the city) to get it fixed. While I mentioned this never happened to me, she goes "this is my first problem too." Next few days, I texted her again and showed her how my hair is different from top to bottom...I asked her if it is okay if I can just get a refund and she refused to give me my refund. The part I was most annoyed with the most when she said she'll return half and wouldn't give me the other half because I used her products LOL. She said it's not "fair" when I asked for a refund. You are the store owner and need to satisfy your customers? I never experienced such poor customer service and management in my life. In the end, I still didn't get a refund or a full apology. Please do yourself a favor and take your $300 elsewhere. They do not know how to color your hair at all. Never going back ever again. **WHO LET'S THEIR CLIENT LEAVE LOOKING LIKE THAT. I haven't been to Salon de Chloe for some time and I think there has been mgmt change because I can see a few things have changed (e.g. interior, vibe). Nonetheless, I took my husband to get a haircut after seeing my brother's haircut. Unfortunately, his hairdresser was out but Hannah cut his hair. She took time and care to cut his hair and she was super friendly! My husband felt very comfortable even though he doesn't speak a word of Korean. It is true, the location is a bit tucked away and parking could sometimes be a bit tricky (had to park at the cafe bene shopping mall a few times) but come during off-hours and you won't have that issue. I go to the owner/chief hairstylist Tim and he just knows how to handle your hair and can understand when I elaborate on what I might want (yeah, a guy can actually do that) and distill it down to simple solutions followed by concise explanations. That's what I really like about Tim - for all his knowledge and experience, he doesn't go on and on about what he can do or what he did blah blah like some other hair stylists out there. He just offers crisp explanations, cracks a few jokes and engage you in some banter, and exercises utmost professionalism. He also gets points for being warm and respectful of other staff members including my favorite shampoo lady in the whole galaxy - Senora fill-in-the-blank-lo siento-i-forgot-su-nombre. On the topic of shampoo - yes, this hispanic lady gives FANTASTIC head massage shampoo - she def. knows who I am because I should be the only Coreano bustin' out in my short espanol every time asking how she's been and droppin' cash like it's hot on the way out. She genuinely cares about the experience she's giving you - firmly yet gently washing your hair and making sure you're comfortable. Me gusto mucho! I also had Chris cut my hair once when he was brand-spankin' new and I gave him some feedback initially as he was too eager to cut my hair like "so and so in Korea" but clients like me don't give a fudge about "looking like so-and-so" so that fell flat quickly. But he capitulated quickly and gave me a decent cut, and seems improving as I see good reviews about him too. He's polite though I think he should smile a bit more. So stop wasting money at other places in Pal Park, etc. and hit up this little gem in Fort Lee - tell Tim I sent you. I've been going to gloria for years and she is a coloring genius! She gave me the hair transformation I was looking for. In a single session she brought me from black hair at the roots with leftover brown/blonde on the ends to a beautiful ash violet. The color has lots of dimension and with the goal of getting ash blonde/silver, after a few washes the violet faded as planned. Highly recommend gloria ! I have been using this salon for 5 years I think and I live like 30 mins away by car now and that tells you I really love it. Always have my hair done with Chris. Have done cutting perm and coloring and it never disappoints. It works for me because he does not make small talks! I am the type that do NOT know what can work for me so I just specify the length and he does what he sees fit and it always turns out GREAT! I think some of the bad review has one cause: if you have very specific requirements you may not like the place unless you speak Korean since most stylists speak English as a second language and may not understand you perfectly. I do not speak Korean but I normally do not speak for more than 5 sentences in the salon~ Price is fair for the area. read more

I had been to his salon once before. I had my haircut by Lynn & I absolutely loved it. Second visit I'm told Lynn no longer works there so based on reviews I tried Gloria. The cut itself was decent. However... it was NOT what I asked for AT ALL. I asked her for a LOB even showed her a picture and walked out with a super short bob. She styled my hair horrendously; curls were ridiculously tight and I absolutely hated it. I ran home to straighten my hair right away. Was the owner of this salon changed? As soon as I entered the salon, I realized something wrong. Yes the place is very disorganized and not clean. The bowl of hair coloring cream was not cleaned and left on the cart and coloring cream was on the floor and stained everywhere. Shelves are disorganized. Just simply not neat. Let me start off by saying that I'm very weary of hair salons because I've never had any good experiences. Either they cut too much or the style is ugly, but that's not the case here. Salon de Chloe is now my go to hair salon. I went in for a small trim (2 inches to be exact) and have very long hair that reaches down to my hips. I wanted to keep the length and just get rid of my dead ends. My stylist was Lynn and she was very gentle and listened exactly to what I wanted and didn't push for anything more. At the end she asked if I wanted some waves so I said why not and my God I think I may be addicted to this style now. I absolutely LOVED my experience here!! I made an appointment with Lynn for a digital perm and got in around 11am and left around 2:30-3pm. I'm always apprehensive when it comes to my hair because I usually leave the salons crying or upset. I showed Lynn pictures of the look I was going for before I started. She's relatively new to the salon-- she said she's only been there 3 months or so but I would highly recommend going to her if you're looking to get a digital perm. I am absolutely obsessed with my new hair and Stella my stylist! I've been to Salon de Chloe twice. Once to get a hair cut in October, and today to get balayage in ash brown/blond. I have never had balayage done or had my hair bleached before, so naturally I was a bit anxious.I was worried that the color gradation would be too blunt and it would not look natural. However, Stella made me feel at ease. She was so patient with answering my questions and really knowledgeable about what she does. I showed her some pictures as to what I was looking for, and she delivered beyond my expectations! While I had to sit in the chair for 3+ hours, it was time well spent. I also loved how she styled my hair at the end and felt fabulous leaving the salon today. All the staff members were super friendly at Salon de Chloe. I love that I don't have to go to the city to get a quality haircut. There is parking in the back, although small-ish. They offer tea and coffee while you cut your hair, and free refills. Tip is cash only, and you get a discount if you pay cash! I've been following tim around from hair salon to hair salon throughout his career for the past ten years. he finally has his own store in fort lee! tim is the best. something about male hair dressers make me feel really safe. they're much more meticulous and reserved... there's a level of caution which is reassuring. many female hair dressers tend to be really aggressive and crunched for time so they'll cut my hair a little too short or perm my hair too curly, never liked it. tim's haircuts are a little too reserved but he'll keep cutting till I'm satisfied. he's the best with any permanent hair treatments ie digital perm, magic perm. I've never been disappointment! tim is also NOT a salesman. he will not try to sell you on this and that. if you request something, he'll look out for your BEST INTEREST. sure he can make extra money by giving you highlights but if your hair is too damaged, he'll advise against it. he won't just give you what you want because you want it... he'll give you his personal and professional advice which is why I've trusted him all these years. his business is quality over quantity. he's never overbooked and too busy. he gives my hair his undivided attention without the feeling of being rushed. I know he'll never be distracted. he really values his customers. I was getting a cold hair wash and he saw that I was struggling and even gave me a blanket to keep me warm. kind gesture goes a long way. another quality that I love about him is how he treats his employees. with respect. he takes the time to explain things in English although he's not the best english speaker. I've seen many korean business owners speak korean to their non-korean workers and get mad when they don't understand! the salon is clean and well kept. probably the only person I'll let touch my hair for the rest of my life :) read more

Loved it! First of all, they give you a warm welcome when you walk in (which who doesn't appreciate?) They first washed my hair and the head message was so good! I'm pretty sure the owner was the one who cut my hair and she took care of EVERY little detail! I used to have a pixie cut and it had grown enough for a short bob and she did it perfectly! Chloe did the makeup and hair for my wedding and she was fabulous. Her job was very meticulous and beautiful. She has great ideas, but also listens to your opinion. Whether in her salon's separate makeup room where I had the trial or in my hotel room she created a great atmosphere where I could relax and enjoy. Worst haircut ever... if I could give them a minus review.. I totally would. I don't normally write a review but this I had to let everyone know.. Wanted to trim my hair so I looked around yelp and found this place. The photos and reviews were good so I was very hopeful. Made an appointment and got there 15 min early to see if I could get it a bit earlier. The stylist was with another client so I patiently waited (which is no problem at all). First, My appointment time came and went and no one told me to wait a bit more.. the stylist was just with the client and another staff was just watching videos on her phone. 5..15..25..30 minutes had passed and finally the other staff came over and escorted me to the back to wash my hair. The wash is mediocre and rough which hurt my neck. Then I was escorted to the front and sat on the chair for another 10 minutes. The stylist finally came over and passively said sorry for the wait and was about to cut my hair without even asking me what style I would like! He was just drying my hair and stating what hair style I had before and was about to start! I patiently pointed out what type of style I wanted.. trim and put on a bit of layering. Now this is where the sh*t hit the fan. He started to cut my hair with a buzz cutter.. first the sides.. and the back.. and continued to ONLY use the buzz cutter to cut my hair! There were a few times where he used a pair of scissors to cut my bangs where then AGAIN he used the buzz cutter to cut my hair! OMG.. The whole horror show lasted 10 minutes (including washing my hair) and he said that he was done stating "I put some layering." The last time I checked.. you cant make layers with a buzz cutter.. hair thinning shears are USED! I have done perms and layered haircuts ever since I was in high school and I know a bad haircut and bad service when I see one. The experience was the worst and I am now I'm stuck with a haircut that looks like a three year old had experimented playing with a buzz cutter on my head! After brushing off the hairs that was all over my face.. he rushed me towards the register and charged me $35 for a hairstyle I didn't want at all. I could have gone to a neighborhood barber and have paid $10 for a better cut! Believe me when I say this.. do NOT even consider cutting your hair here unless you want to look like a mushroom by the end of your session. Save your money and go to your neighborhood barber and I am pretty sure that they will treat you better for the price you'll be paying. I am so DISAPPOINTED and FURIOUS and will NEVER be going back here AGAIN! CHRIS is THE WORST stylist EVER! read more

They try to overcharge you. I used to go here really often when Lynn was working. She was the best hair stylist I ever had and knew how to cut and perm hair. Lynn no longer works here and so I asked for Gloria instead. My experience with her was pretty bad. I told her specifically what I wanted but throughout the cut she kept asking me if she could cut a certain way and didn't stop. I kept telling her no that I wanted my hair the way I wanted it. I understand that she's a hairstylist but if a customer specifically wants their hair the way it is I think you should be respectful of it. She then tries to charge me $45 when I was always charged $40. When I told her how much I was normally charged (by my many visits) she said "oh it's because you're a student right? Okay $40." The next appointment I made was just to trim my bangs. This was always $5 for me and when Gloria tried to charge me she asked for $10. There's no way that the price for trimming bangs goes up by another $5 within a month. I'm tired of her trying to overcharge me and so I'm no longer going to Salon de chloe. read more

After reading such great reviews about Gloria, I decided to get my hair coloring for the first time. Ever since the hair coloring, my hair has never felt so brittle and dry. Also, not even sure what color she was going for. The top of my head is different color than the bottom. Another reason I will not be returning is there is no consistently with price and no posts in the store for treatment costs. Usually I don't post but after reading the most recent post from the girl who paid $400 for color and cut, I couldn't NOT post. Not sure why the other girl was charged $400 when mine costs less than half the price she paid. Also, surprised they didn't offer 10% discount for paying cash when they offered to me for another treatment that costed $300. Guess it depends on the mood. read more
