These guys are truly amazing. We booked them for our wedding this past fall and they proved to be a real highlight of the night. They were incredible - the dance floor was always busy and we heard nothing but the highest of compliments from our guests. I've lost count of how many of our guests have complimented Kinky Spigot after our wedding, and noted that the band was "amazing," "tremendous," and/or "best wedding band I've seen." I was in charge of finding our wedding band, and had strict requirements for what I (we) wanted: authentic soul/funk band, accessible to non-soul/funk fans, and great performers. These guys more than delivered. The dance floor was packed starting with the first song, and only emptied during a 15 minute break and again once the party was over. The band arrived with a set playlist, but was dynamic enough to read the crowd and change direction to keep the energy high. Everybody from my great-uncle to the four year old children were dancing basically the entire time. On the business side, the manager maintained contact and composure throughout the year, and kept us up-to-date on the information we needed to provide and by when. They were extremely friendly and professional the entire time, and were willing and flexible in incorporating our requests and day-of questions. I've been a collector of soul and funk records for over 13 years, and took our wedding band search seriously. These guys were better and more authentic sounding than I could have anticipated, while seamlessly incorporating contemporary music as well. Kinky Spigot and the Welders are incredible! We hired them for our wedding in May 2013 in New York City. We came across Kinky Spigot at the Brooklyn Wedding Crashers event. From the very first call with their manager and bass player, Yoni, we were impressed with his accessibility and professionalism. He and Marlon, the musical director, worked with us through numerous emails and phone calls to create a customized set list, with three of our own special requests not on their song list. They were always quick to respond and very pleasant to work with. In the weeks leading up to our wedding, they would check in with us periodically to help fine tune the flow of the night, always enthusiastic and energized about our upcoming event. We were delighted by their professionalism, but more importantly by their musical abilities. Our guests danced enthusiastically at our wedding because of this band. I even noticed some of our guests watching the band as though it were a show. The three singers have beautiful and versatile voices, and with this group at the front, the sound is full and exciting live. We were looking for a band, complete with horns in order to fill the reception hall with sound, yet with a current and young vibe - Kinky Spigot fits this rare description. Their song list is varied so that we could satisfy our eclectic musical tastes. They do a lot of soul and Motown because that is definitely their sweet spot, but also have quite a number of modern hits in their repertoire as well. We would recommend them to everyone! Kinky Spigot and the Welders simply made our wedding. We found them online and they invited us to a rehearsal where they literally blew us away. From that point on, the band manager was constantly checking in with us and made the process as easy as possible. While their playlist focuses heavily on motown and soul, they absolutely killed with their renditions of MGMT, Michael Jackson, and Rolling Stones songs. During the wedding itself, they absolutely killed. My entire family and friends never left the dance floor and they were all anyone could talk about the next week. I've recommended them to all my friends who are getting married in the next couple years and I sincerely hope for the opportunity to hire them again for another big celebration. They may not have the most extensive song list out there, but their range and the way in which they play them have definitely reset the bar higher for the most fun and exhilarating wedding band ever. They played Stevie Wonder and Justin Bieber, Frank Sinatra and Jay-Z, Whitney Houston and Blur. And all in a big band way. They kept the rhythm going and everyone was on the dance floor. As the bride, I rarely left it all night long! These guys are so easy-going and flexible. My husband and I hired one of their acoustic solo guitarists to perform the instrumentals for our ceremony and they were happy to learn new music that had great meaning for us. They know what they're doing; all we did were pick out a bunch of songs that we absolutely wanted to hear (which was really difficult for us since we loved so many of the songs on their list), make a few requests, and let Nadav (the band leader and master of ceremonies) do the rest! read more

My wife and I hired Kinky Spigot and the Welders for our wedding last July. They were AMAZING. Our guests still gush over how incredible the band was (and many of them are musicians, so this is high praise). They are young, energetic, incredibly talented, and have a deep repertoire. They nail any style of music they perform, from rock to soul to hip hop to dance. They also play music for your cocktail hour in different ensembles, such as a jazz quartet (which we hired) and a bluegrass band. The band was easy to work with and planning went without a hitch. I sang a song with Kinky Spigot, which also went without a hitch. They welcomed me to a rehearsal, and the performance could not have gone better. You want your party to be fun, right? These guys just played at our wedding in southeastern Massachusetts. We found them through a friend in Brooklyn, who raved about them, so we decided to reach out to their band manager Yoni. He was incredibly helpful and kind - and we were immediately convinced they were our band. When my wife and I set out to plan our wedding over a year ago, music was the most important element to the night. Many of our guests are musicians, so it was important to get a band that wasn't your typical cheesy "fun wedding" band, but a group that had the talent to back it up. We should start by saying at the end of the four hour set Kinky Spigot played the entire dance floor began chanting "ONE MORE SONG, ONE MORE SONG!" We found Kinky Spigot at a wedding band showcase in Brooklyn and immediately knew they were something special and they delivered across the board. During the planning process, Lillian and Nadav were super organized, attentive, and very available for every little detailed question we had for them. They handled our sound during the ceremony, provided an amazing string quarter during cocktail hour, and when it came to the reception, they knocked it out of the park! Their music selection is vast and versatile and while they allow you to choose 5 "must play" songs and read the room for the rest of it, every song they played over four hours had the dance floor filled for the entire night. Even when they took breaks, the DJ played perfect songs for the vibe of the room. The evidence is in the fact that so many people came up to us during the wedding and exclaimed "WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS AMAZING BAND!?" My wife and I could not have been more ecstatic with Kinky Spigot for our wedding band. There really aren't enough superlatives. Dance floor was full all night. For the last song of the night they did a rendition of "Primetime" by Janelle Monae that blew us all away...So so very happy... There aren't enough positive things for me to say about Kinky Spigot. We booked the band for our wedding and had high expectations given all of their positive reviews (here, the Knot, weddingwire, etc.) and their awesome demo video, and even with those high expectations we were totally blown away. I think the other glowing reviews say it as well as we could, so it's tough to know what to add. To hit on the highlights: 1) Their day-of performance was absolutely phenomenal - I know this is going to sound like a broken record given other reviews, but 10+ people commented on how this was easily the best wedding band they had ever seen, and several said they would pay to see the band play not at a wedding. Watch their demo video on youtube if you aren't sure. 2) Prior to the day-of, the band was incredibly easy to work with. Early in wedding planning, this is something that in all honesty I didn't pay enough attention to, and while some vendors caused us stress down the road, Kinky Spigot was the polar opposite. Every time we spoke prior to the wedding, Yoni and Nadav were calm, reassuring, and totally willing to help us achieve our vision (even when we weren't 100% sure what that vision was). We oscillated on several topics, but they were always flexible willing to accommodate, and more importantly it was clear throughout that they had everything under control. 3) Extra requests: this is less generally applicable but speaks to how great they were to work with. In addition to performing during our cocktail hour and reception, we wanted large speaker set-ups at both at the entrance to our venue and at the ceremony so we could play music from an iPad. The band was able to help set that up and work with our venue so that everything went off without a hitch on the day of. Bottom line: I can't recommend this band highly enough. Really, truly, nothing but positive things to say about our entire experience with Kinky Spigot. They were so good that they even inspired my first actual Yelp review. read more

When my daughter was planning her wedding at Front and Palmer in Philadelphia, she was determined to have a true dance band to set the tone of the night. She wanted everyone to come in, have a drink and some dinner, and then dance the night away. Her vision was completely brought to fruition with Kinky Spigot! Kinky Spigot and the Welders are by far the best entertainment band that I've ever seen. They played my wedding last weekend and my friend's wedding last summer. They are by far the best wedding band that I've ever seen- no contest. They are an amazing group of talented technical musicians with a keen sense of how to get the crowd involved and keep them entertained. My guests are still raving about the music. Not only would I be thrilled to see them at a dance or party, but I'd pay good money to go see them at a bar or concert venue. My husband and I were really excited about planning our wedding, but as passionate music lovers, we dreaded the idea of searching for a wedding band. Several Google searches for "nontraditional wedding band" resulted in the expected list of bands that seemed like bad SNL skits. One band, however, was different in appearance, playlist, and vibe. Once we watched Kinky Spigot's promo video and read through their eclectic, extensive playlist, we knew we had found our band. Unfortunately, when we inquired about booking them for our wedding, we quickly learned that they were already hired for another event. After a week of investigating other options, I turned to my husband and said, "This may sound crazy, but can we change our wedding date to Friday? I don't want another band." My husband looked and me and said, "I don't either. Let's do it." It might have been the best decision we made concerning our wedding. Kinky Spigot is not a wedding band; they are musicians who happen to play weddings. From the first notes of the acoustic guitar played during our ceremony, it was clear we made the right choice. Following the ceremony, we had requested a 3-piece jazz ensemble during our cocktail hour. Sensing the aesthetics of our venue, the band manager approached my husband and asked, "Would it be okay if we kept it more upbeat and funky?" Yes! That impromptu adjustment really set the tone for the evening. After playing songs they learned specifically for our first dance and parent dances, Kinky Spigot then let our guests know that this wasn't going to be any ordinary wedding. For the rest of the night, they played a mix of Motown, R&B, Funk, 90s Hip-hop, and some newer alternative favorites. The dance floor was packed with everyone, from our youngest friends to our oldest relatives. Immediately after our guests congratulated us on our marriage, the next words out of their mouths were either, "This band is awesome!" or "Where did you find this band?"
