It was fast, good, and easy (not to mention inexpensive). Stay focused... I am talking about lunch. When you arrive, the parking lot might be full (it was when we arrived), almost always a good sign. You can grab a spot on the street or behind the now mostly defunct main street. When you walk in, you glove up and start serving yourself from the buffet. Someone will take your drink order (ours was taken as we were going through the line), then find a seat. I didn't know what fatback was, but I had already Googled it before we arrived, so I easily identified it. After one bite, I decided my dentist might become richer if I continued to try to chew it. The fried chicken was good but a bit salty. The fried pork chop was good as well, but I would have mistaken it for fried fish if I hadn't read the menu. Smoked sauage, yum. The biscuits looked good, but I took (and ate) the cornbread but would not have known what it was if I didn't have the cheat sheet. The salad bar was primarily lettuce. They had a few salad toppings, but the tongs were short and difficult to use. I suspect most people do not come here for salad. Oh, did I mention dessert? Huge cinnamon rolls and something chocolate with pudding and cookies. It fit the bill for what we were looking for.. a quick, inexpensive sit-down lunch.

Upon ordering the cashier told us that the food would be ready in about 15-20 min which is understandable. We waited on the bar chairs in front of the grill and while waiting we noticed that there were a few flies flying around the grill which was a little disconcerting but didn't complain as it can happen sometimes. Once the food was ready we ate in their outside tables as the inside was retty small and got crowded fast The food iyslwf was decent but could have used a little flavor. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and was a little disappointed when i only saw half a pice of bacon (see picture). I was expecting more but its fine since the price was really reasonable. Coleslaw, fries, egg rolls, lettuce, tomatoes, always something. Last night (5/14) they were out of everything on their menu at 8:30pm except wings and fries. This place was bad before and had gotten so much better, I actually enjoyed coming here after working late, but over the last few months it is getting worse by the week. Don't blame being busy, you aren't that busy that you run out of all products. Stop with the excuses. You don't know how to order or the District Manager is holding them back from ordering to boast daily/week/monthly/quarter numbers to make their figures look good. Or there is just bad management again that do not know how to anticipate guest numbers, check your inventory numbers to project you might be running low especially at the end of the week, or prepping for the day. Probably time to lock the doors to this place again. There were three groups of guests walk out and numerous pulling away from the drive through. Ran into other people at Cookout that were told the same thing. One couple said they stopped coming here because of the problems, thought they would try again. They said they will never be back. I normally spend $30-$40 on each trip and have gotten use to asking what are you out of today, but this, nope, not happening. Won't be back for a long while. Cookout is open until 2am.
