Southern cooking doesn't get much better than this. We stopped on a Sunday and had the buffet. Great food and lovely people.

Very good fried chicken. They were kind enough to fry some early for me to take on the train. Great service and delicious breakfasts.

Well worth the detour from 95. Good food and very friendly staff. I recommend the sweet potato patty and fried chicken

I've been to Southern Fried twice. Each time the food has been very good and the staff is very friendly. The price is also reasonable.

The staff was very friendly, the service was good...I had takeout but the restaurant is a buffet inside. It clearly is a place the locals enjoy and it is an easy stop if you are on the way to the beach. All in all, my favorite was actually the hot dog. The chili was excellent and the slaw had just a touch of sweetness. The BBQ was well prepared, just not my favorite style or taste profile...a bit too much twang. I would recommend Shuler's if you are in the area and look forward to trying other items the next time I return.

Shuler's is located off I-95, Exit 181A heading towards Marion and Myrtle Beach. You have to drive…read morea mile or so from the exit but it's easy to spot. The place is a large wooden building that resembles something that would have been built in the 1870's. There are a few bench's and chairs on the front porch to relax in after eating or if you need to wait for a table. They have a general store with some interesting items as well. Schuler's is a buffet style barbecue and all you can eat. Their pulled pork is their best meat. I wasn't really impressed with their ribs though. Don't get me wrong, the were pretty good but I certainly wasn't blown away. Their fried chicken is good but again not much different from most buffets in South Carolina. Their collards are nice and they do offer hash. If you're thinking corn beef hash, it's not that. It's a BBQ or liver hash and it's definitely an acquired taste. I usually put it over rice if I get it. Hash was highly popular in South Carolina for many years. It can't hurt to try it as Schuler's is actually pretty good. Not my favorite barbecue in the area but it's cool place with great people.

Shuler's BBQ - Hash on the bottom left. No, not like corned beef hash. This is BBQ hash. It's sort of an acquired taste. Not a big fan.

Let me start by saying that this place was super busy and I experienced why. It's very welcoming as…read moreyou drive up, definitely a place the locals go to - many servers knew customers by name. When you walk in, they make you feel like family. The service was excellent. We ordered three drinks and three buffets which totaled $63.48. We waited about 10 minutes for a table before the Hostess took us to our table and brought us our drinks. The food was amazing, and the cabbage was my favorite. It was the BEST thing on the menu. The good: Fried chicken wings Cabbage Fried Fish Mashed Potatoes/Gravy Pulled Pork The bad: Mac and cheese - it was awful Okra (too Slimy) Chicken Livers (overcooked) Unfortunately, the foods are mostly fried items. The desserts were average- they had slices of vanilla cake, strawberry cake, banana pudding, ice cream and Jello. If you are really hungry, this is the place where you can eat good, home cooked southern food. B+

Everything I ate seemed to be frozen at some point. Nothing "fresh" or made from scratch in the joint. The food wasn't bad per se but it definitely wasn't what I was expecting. Especially for a hefty price of $18 for the dinner buffet. Definitely not going here again, not the worth the money.
