Nice AUTHENTIC PR place across a small street from the beach. Everytime I visit PR I come here for Piononos!

A roadside shack across from Playa Vacia Talega that serves the best Puerto Rican food I had during my time on the island. I tried one of each of the alcapurrias (there are six different fillings), tostones, and mofongo. The mofongo was the perfect consistency with the right amount of garlic and seasoning. All of the alcapurrias were great, but the conch, crab, and shrimp fillings really stood out-all of the seafood was extremely fresh.

I wasn't sure what to expect since it was recommended to me, but let me tell you... I'll definitely be back before heading home! From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was so relaxing. It's the perfect place to sit back, enjoy great food, and take in the island vibes. We ordered the Chuleta Can Can with tostones de pana, and it was absolutely delicious. We also had the filete de mero, which was perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and packed with flavor. To top it all off, we enjoyed a coconut mojito and a passion fruit mojito--both were refreshing and the perfect pairing with our meal. I also have to give a huge shout-out to our server, Michael. He was AMAZING! So friendly, attentive, and accommodating. If you stop by, definitely ask for him--you won't regret it. One thing I love most about visiting Puerto Rico every year is discovering new local restaurants and supporting our community. The food, the hospitality, and the culture never disappoint. And for my fellow parents--they also have a kids' menu, making it a great spot for the whole family! If you're visiting Puerto Rico, be sure to support the local businesses. You just might find your new favorite restaurant like I did!

We got recommended here from our hotel concierge and she did not disappoint. This place is highly frequented by the neighborhood regulars but it's hard to hide such a delightful gem like this. So not surprisingly you have a steady stream of tourists who are constantly trickling in the entire time as well. The ambiance is a lot to do with the experience here. It is all outdoor seating with 5-6 different spots you can choose to sit. The seats and tables are set up in bare minimum style and they focus more on the food and the local chill vibe they flow through this place. Apparently, the food we ordered were mostly street food appetizers. This was mainly because they had so many delectable options in the app section that we ended up solely ordering a wild medley of their assorted apps. We tried their Risotto & Chorizo Croquettes, Stuffed Fried Plaintains (Spicy Crab, Beef, & Shrimp), Spicy Crab Eggrolls, & Fish Tacos. Everything was good but the Shrimp Stuffed Plaintains were the most delicious. The bonus to this place is that they rock upbeat electronic music like an upbeat lounge you'd come across in New York or LA. It doesn't hurt that you are seconds away from an unoccupied beach front where you can dig your toes in the soft sand and the cool water splashes up to your ankles all afternoon long. It is a mini paradise spot that you must check out.

We parked and sat ourselves and were quickly told the kitchen would not open for an hour - that explains why there were no customers. That was okay and there is nothing wrong with sipping on a few mojitos while the stove warms up. The drinks were good and our waitress was fantastic and very helpful. We ordered several food items to try and enjoyed each one. By the time we left, the place was packed. Contra Viento y Mearea is now on my list.

It has a lot of visual appeal & feels like somewhere you'd want to sit, vibe,& linger for a bit. There's outside sitting which was refreshing b/c you feel the cool PR breeze from the nearby beach. The service, however, could have been more attentive. The waiter was a bit hard to catch @ times which took away from the overall experience. I literally had to try to get his attention multiple times which was frustrating. As for the food, it was a mixed experience. I ordered the snapper, & while it had potential (b/c the flavor was def there)it was fried a bit too much & came out on the dry side. I also got a dried out lime so that didn't help to add juice to the fish. The white rice & beans were actually the highlight of the meal(well-seasoned & really enjoyable). I also tried the cod fish fritter (bacalaito), but it was overly greasy & didn't really have much cod fish in it, which was disappointing. Overall, the atmosphere is gr8 & worth checking out for the ambiance and photos, but the food & service could use some improvement.

The fried snapper fish was cooked perfectly and everything tasted fresh. I tried their churrasco and trifongo (mofongo de plátano verde, plátano maduro, and yuca combined) It can get lively with a crowd and music, depending on the time of day, but that's part of the Piñones experience. One thing to keep in mind is that the beach access nearby isn't directly connected to the restaurant area, so if you're planning to visit both, having transportation makes things much easier. If you're walking, be prepared for a longer trek than you might expect. Overall, this spot is worth a stop.

It was recommended by one of our tour guides so it is a great option for both locals and tourists. It had a nice atmosphere and very large menu with many different types of options. The Frutti di mare was one of the best pastas I've ever had! It had almost every type of seafood you could want. A great option for someone who wants to try a bit of everything. It was large enough to satisfy you but not too large where you have to take leftovers it back to your hotel. It also came with a salad and delicious bread. My husband ordered the yucafongo pollo, and was very impressed. It was also filling and well made. The drink menu also had a lot of options. I went with the sangria which was super tasty! It's more on the fruity side. Our service was great and we didn't have to wait long for a table or our food, although it seemed busy. Whether you live in the area or are just on vacation, I would recommended trying it out!

The service was a little confusing at first. We were seated and expected to access the menu through a QR code, which wasn't immediately explained to us. We initially expected traditional menus, so there was a bit of uncertainty before we realized how the ordering process worked. We were also seated near one of the air conditioning units, which made some members of our party feel a bit cold during the meal. However, once the food arrived, all of those concerns quickly disappeared. The food was incredible. Rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, every dish at the table was delicious. The arroz con pollo was honestly the best I have ever had in my life. It was perfectly seasoned, comforting, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt like authentic Puerto Rican cooking at its best. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and it made for a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife. While the service experience could be a little clearer and some seating areas may be colder than others, the quality of the food more than makes up for those minor issues. I would absolutely return on a future visit to Puerto Rico.
