My "significant other" was there in March for 2 weeks for physical rehab, hydration & nutritional admission...by the end of 2 weeks, he looked & felt better and was walking pretty good with aid of a walker. The last week of April, he had caught a bad case of bronchitis, and spent a week in the hospital. He was then transferred back to Kirkland for further treatment...again-2 weeks for physical rehab, hydration & nutritional admission...he already looks better after 1 week! The nurses there are awesome & caring...we both appreciate them all! They attended any issues within a reasonable amount of time. I would recommend this facility! read more

the care of the residents are great, but they don't care about their employees. The food quality is not that great.

The care is horrible. My father was sent there for rehab. Left him in bed and almost no physical therapy which was required after surgery. They did not provide him ice as required. He was doing better in the hospital and went downhill in that facility! I do not recommend. read more

The grounds are lovely and the facility is clean and well-appointed but unfortunately, that's where it ends. My mother needed short-term rehab to adjust her meds, and some physical and occupational therapy. We brought her there on a Monday and they were not prepared for her, even though I called before we left for the 45 minute drive there. When we got there the nurse's aide made a comment that they did not know she was arriving. When I said I had called beforehand, she said, "They never tell us anything." Awesome. The afternoon nurse was unwelcoming and every time I saw her she basically had a scowl on her face. Monday through Thursday was uneventful, although the food looked unappetizing. Friday morning at 3:27 am I received a phone call that my mother had fallen while going to the bathroom alone and was being taken to LV Hospital. We well understand that my mother did not summon the nurse with a call bell. They cannot put rails on her bed because that would be considered restraining her. It's the aftermath that is extremely upsetting. Her fall left her with 7 stitches on her forehead, a bruised knee and her neck was fractured in two different places. She needed to be hospitalized for a few days before returning to Kirkland. On Sunday, Kirkland called me to inform me that insurance did not pay them while my mother was in the hospital and did I want to reserve her room for $505 a day? When I declined they said she could come back but they could not guarantee the same room. I said that was fine. They took all her belongings, and threw them in her travel bag and large garbage bags, and left them in the office until someone could pick them up. Mind you, she was returning back on Monday. Monday when I brought her back she was very weak and I was concerned about her. I continued to ask them to please keep an eye on her because she seemed "off." On Tuesday I called in the morning to check on her and they told me she was "fine" and had her in the dining area. Wednesday afternoon I got there and I could not believe how much she had deteriorated. She was confused, upset, and weak. She was in a wheelchair with food stains on her clothes and piles of books and magazines in her lap. Requests for her meds list were ignored. Around 8 pm that night I tried calling her room and the nurse's station to find out how she was doing. The phones rang for over 45 minutes and NO ONE answered. At one point I called the security number but they were useless because they said she was downstairs and they were upstairs. Finally, I found a different number, and a nurse from a different section left his area to walk to her wing and got someone for me to speak to. That was over 70 minutes from the start of my call. Thursday morning I called again and was told she was "fine." I later found out that she was behaving EXTREMELY ERRACTICALLY and they never bothered to tell me. My sister went there and asked for a meds list. Do you want to know why my mother was WORSE after being there for over a week and a half? They were giving her ALL THE OLD MEDS PLUS THE NEW ONES. So she had to be weaned all over again. She was finally going to be released because her insurance stopped covering the facility. They called on Friday afternoon to let us know she needed to be picked up by Monday. We told them we would pick her up on Sunday, 10/13. Friday evening one of the directors called, Louise. She proceeded to tell my sister and me that they were concerned about my mother being home and not with them, she used tactics like, she may fall and hit her head. Ummmmm... she FELL and hit her head at your place and YOUR people screwed up her meds so badly, she didn't know where she was. They also subtly told my mother she would not be safe at home several times. Sunday morning when my family member arrived to pick her up, my mother was in the hall, her belongings all packed on the floor. Her bed was stripped. They basically told my mother she was no longer a patient there and she had to wait in the hall for her ride home. We never moved my mother out of a building SO FAST. PS They broke her cervical collar right after she returned from her hospital visit and ordered a replacement. The replacement was 3 sizes too big. They put it on her anyway. They basically said they ordered the right size but the wrong size came. Ok, and?? You put the wrong size on her anyway?? Your people can't read? After much back and forth, they had a new one at Kirkwood the end of October. You guessed it, the new one was also THE WRONG SIZE. I give up. read more

My mother was there for short term memory care/rehab after surgery. She has dementia. I was there every day and the staff and administrators go above and beyond to make sure they are safe and comfortable. The staff is engaging and compassionate for each patient there. I highly recommend having your elderly loved one stay there. read more

My mom is at this facility and I would not send my worst enemy there. Absolutely horrible care. They left her in bed for 3 days after arrival, didn't shower her in 2 weeks. The nurses don't answer the phone. They've left bad soiled laundry in her room. My mom's mental health took a sharp decline in this facility because of how horrible the care is. read more

I am responding to Kristin H representing Kirkland Village. Thank you for taking the time to respond. By stating that Kirkland's contract is competitive with other community contracts means it is the same. That tells me as I suggested in my first comment that this loophole clause likely exists for all communities. The problem with the clause is the indefinite possession and control of large amounts of funds by a corporation when a resident who has fulfilled all of his/her financial obligation to that corporation, but who had to relocate. For those residents leaving with a large refund, the current contract language is unfair to senior citizens and profitable only to the corporation who also controls how long the corporation will retain these funds. The contracts need to be changed. Whether a portion of the refund will be dispensed to the departing resident every six months or eliminate the clause entirely, a senior citizen should not wait years to receive the refund without any interest. The marketing on the website needs to be amended regarding this type of contract since it is misleading. It is the pdf file with costs of floorplans. I am again talking about legalities of the contract not the staff and the facility itself. My review of these remain at five stars. The corporate team stays at one star until the disparity is fixed for future residents. Thank You. read more

please see review by monica c. 4/5/23 regarding kirkland keeping large amounts of funds after resident moves. all my phone inquiries are totally ignored as to status of my situation. no senior citizen should wait years for a refund without interest. i can not conveniently forget , their indefinite possession of my money deliberately creates hardship denying and violating human rights. also, let us not forget the forceful manner in which signatures were obtained in difficult situations, no time allowed to read the voluminous packet first or for attorney to interpret, instead was presented page after page to sign without being informed of content. sales rep very strongly insisted to come to my house after hours despite my protests ,she was forceful to collect check in a hurry without a chance to think. so, please please when considering kirkland village do not sign anything trustingly in good faith, no matter how hard you are pushed when you are most vulnerable in unexpectedly unfortunate situations. read more

This is a Lovely place to work staff as well as residents are amazing. I have worked here for 3 year and enjoy everyday. The campus is beautiful, I enjoy our gym. It's a very upbeat place to work. read more

Over-Priced and Under-Staffed. - Our loved one was in the Dementia Ward which has 22 residents. There was only one aid on duty most days which left many residents left in the dining room all day with no interaction and begging to be taken to the bathroom. Several staff shared with me the lack of staff and terrible conditions. We are so glad we took our loved one out of there. Her health has improved and she is smiling again. read more

My mother was treated in the Rehabilitation/skilled nursing unit for three weeks. She has had stays in many of the local facilities over the last 7 years. We found the staff to be caring as well as hard working. Even thought they were in the middle of renovating the nurses station and the hallways were overflowing with employee work stations, we were impressed with the dedication and kindness of the staff. The Dr. was also very kind and approachable! I was contacted regularly with updates! I felt comfortable and welcomed every time I visited. Kirkland Village is our go-to when in need of rehabilitation. read more

My mom was at the Kirkland Village Health Center for several days, and my family spent many hours a day with her there. It is a cheerful and bright building with cozy rooms, a friendly and helpful staff, and many amenities and touches that made it feel like a home and a nice place to visit. There are numerous flower gardens, outdoor areas and walking paths, gathering places, a craft room and wonderful library, and a cafeteria where guests could purchase healthy and/or comfort foods. There were many staff members to help residents of the Health Center who seemed to genuinely care and who worked hard to meet the needs of the many people with needs in their care. They treated my mom with kindness and dignity and made her laugh...they were wonderful. The occupational and physical therapists working with her were patient and encouraging. They inspired my mom to keep trying to rehabilitate so that she could come home. The residents of Kirkland were welcoming and happy. My mom never got home...she passed away a couple of days ago, but Kirkland gave us an enjoyable and hopeful few days before she left us. I will forever be grateful. read more
