The waiter offered to deep fry the spot prawns' heads (free of charge) for my father and he loved them. Wagyu beef that we grilled ourselves at the table was quite good quality. Happy Hour until 5pm had some good options too. This is my parents' and my favourite Japanese restaurant in Pitt Meadows and the only place serving grilled salmon heads. read more

Often go to this sushi restaurant considering they have been the best in Pitt Meadows, but we'll be going to Maple Ridge spots after this most likely. Half the family went to eat in, and two of us could not make it, but got food taken home - 1 beef teriyaki don, 1 chicken curry katsu don, and 1 negitoro maki. I woke up twice with diarrhea in the middle of the night, my partner did this morning, and so did my mom who dined in... And no, my mother was out all day, and the only meal we shared together was this one as a family all day. It was a Sunday (August 17), and they are closed Monday, so it really felt like we got the tail end of the products before closing for a day, which is unfortunate if that's how they want to treat loyal customers, but giving them the stuff going bad before the weeks end. What is for certain is the food handling practices aren't up to par regardless if they want to utilize old stock before closing Monday, at least do your due diligence as a food handler to ensure it's safe to eat and not sitting in the danger zone for hours. Usually this place is really good so I'm a little perturbed by the lack of expertise/food handling standards I've come to expect. read more

I really like that they offer gluten free items and the fish is fresh but the portions are quite small and they charge for everything like the green tea, the gluten free soya sauce, then extra charge for searing and upgrading to wild salmon. You need to spend about a hundred dollars to actually feel full and satisfied so it can get pretty expensive for the tiny portions. My friend and I honestly had to go and buy some protein bars from Superstore to actually feel full after spending 90 bucks here, we actually had to eat 3 bars each to feel full after this restaurant. So I guess if you don't mind splurging on sushi for a day and you're gluten intolerant it's alright but it's definitely a money grab. read more

Delicious and fast service! Hubby and I went for ramen and were pleasantly surprised ! The chashu ramen - was a generous portion. The broth was excellent, not too salty or fatty, and had a nice depth of flavour. The egg was slightly overdone, and the bowl could use more greens, but the noodles made up for it. They were soft and chewy done just right. We also had the pork gyoza which were small but delicious. The tempura was generous abd the tempura chocolate drizzle ice cream was so good. Me and my friends were looking for a sushi dinner spot after our afternoon hike in the hills. And we found this place on Yelp (my usual app) and called if they were opened for dine in. Surprisingly, they were open! Me and my friends were so happy, so we told them a party of 4 people were coming and they were ready for us! We came around June, during the pandemic, and we were still in the "safety" mode of wearing mask, and cleaning ourselves with alcohol wipes. I loved how the restaurant purposely set up for pick up for food and on top of that, inside they were ready to take only a couple tables of people for dine-in. I love the atmosphere of the venue, and their placement of the tables to keep a safety distance. This was the first time back to eating sushi from a couple months of staying at home, and surprisingly, a sushi joint out here in Maple Ridge satisfied our cravings! The special rolls were so delicious, and competitively priced as well! I ordered 3 special rolls myself, and my friend ordered a don, and something else. It has been a while, but I remembered their rolls were perfectly rolled, and topped off with such amazing ingredients. More like, I was surprised a place like in Maple Ridge had such an iconic spot!! After reading the glowing reviews here and on Facebook my husband and I tried Kisoji this evening so I could give it another chance and honestly, it gets an overwhelming "Meh." from us. The service was good, the waiter was polite. The prices are pretty much average. The food was average at best, with the exception of the beef yakisoba which was probably the best yakisoba either of us have ever had. But overall, the food wasn't completely terrible, but it also wasn't good. We tried the Negihama roll because it sounded delicious but it was definitely not to our liking, it was incredibly fishy. I compared the flavour to that of tinned kippers, not even wasabi could tame the fishy flavour. We couldn't finish it, well, we didn't want to. The atmosphere also didn't work for us, it has a very Vancouver hipster feel; very industrial and modern, very, very open seating and as suburbanite parents in our mid/late 30's just out for a date night, it just wasn't our scene. We try to keep our money in Pitt Meadows as it's where we are raising our family, but we just didn't enjoy the experience and will not be going back. read more

Kisoji is Pitt Meadows newest sushi place. With four other sushi places in the area it is certainly the nicest. The interior is one of the best I've seen of any Japanese restaurant. The service from the hostess was excellent. The sushi is inexpensive but the quality is moderate. I can't complain as the food is tasty, but the over use of imitation crab and filler is disappointing. It is typical of the sushi in the area but I was hoping for more. This place has potential. Just would like to see more custom rolls with fresher ingredients. I'm sure I'll eat here plenty of times when I'm looking for a quick meal. It's a tough place to rate. Somewhere between a 3 and 4 star place. Check it out if you are in the area. It's worth a try. read more

The server was no where to be found most of the time as we were seated in the tables in the back so maybe she forgot. We dropped by Kisoji in Pitt Meadows one night and had a really good experience. I was impressed with the presentation and quality of each dish. The 4 of us ordered a few rolls and appetizers to share. First up, we had the Agé Maguro. It's basically tuna tempura with cream cheese and ponzu sauce. Not my favourite dish of the night since I thought it was kind of soggy but the flavour was still good and it was a very unique roll. Our next order was the Alaska Combo. It was a full order of the Alaska Roll which is your basic California Roll with salmon on top, and 7 pieces of assorted nigiri sushi. Everything was yummy and the fish was fresh :) The Nori Scallops are part of their seasonal menu. This dish was already $12 so each piece was like $3! Pretty pricy. The scallops were crusted with seaweed panko and served with wasabi mayo. It was delicious -- nice crunchy texture on the outside and a perfectly cooked and tender scallop inside. Went very nicely with the wasabi mayo as well. We still wanted a bit more food so we ordered the Chicken Karaage. It was served extremely hot and crispy and the chicken was juicy and flavourful. Sooo very yummy. It definitely hit the spot. Not too oily either :D It was my first time coming here and I loved it! It's definitely on the higher end in terms of price but I think you get what you pay for. The food is prepared well and the flavour is on point. As an afterthought we tried their $3 appie special- a spicy flank steak skewer. Delicious! Surprised they offer farmed salmon but just ask and they will sub wild. Decent sushi! Fresh and good variety for all tastes. Big choice of other dishes too: chicken, soups, salads, and other specialties. There were way too much rice in the sushi and the quality could be better. I was disappointed with the shrimp tempura, but the other non-sushi plates were alright. Service is okay: when there are many customers, it is a bit hard to get the attention of the waiter (for reorders). But still doable and give you more time to digest = more space to order more! Kisoji is downtown quality at country prices. I am a big fan of exquisite Japanese food, and I really hate what passes for Japanese food when it is mediocre. Kisoji is exquisite and I can afford to go often, unlike the great places downtown. A regular menu and if you know what to ask for, Kisoji has been known to make off menu items. A Japanese family with Japanese servers which is unusual and wonderful. The space is clean, small tables and large ones for big families or friends. They are good with children. So we decided to come here last night for mothers day dinner. We were a little hesitant to come here because we never would've thought that anything east of Port Coquitlam would have any sort of decent Japanese food. Regardless of our initial doubts we decided to give it a shot because of the pretty good reviews online. It's pretty easy to find as it's located right by roosters. You can't miss that! Walking in, it had a very nice vibe to it. Very well decorated and lots of space. Unlike many restaurants, kisoji didn't stack their seats really close to each other which gave it's diners a good amount of space between each party. We looked at the menu and it had a large selection as well as a good sake selection. We ordered a lot of different food including the off menu torched items. I won't go into too much detail about what we ordered but for the most part the food was quite flavorful. If you go there, ask about their off menu items. The service was quite attentive as they were quite consistent it asking how our food was and refilling our teas about waters. This place doesn't get my fifth star because if the following. 1. The sashimi though good was in some cases still somewhat frozen and very cold. This ruined some of the taste that it had. 2. The torched aburi sushi wasn't torched enough. It was a little bit cold as well when aburi should have the burnt smoky warm taste to it. This wasn't really aburi. 3. The chicken Katsu curry wasn't very flavorful and quite bland. I expected it to be very good but was sorely disappointed. I believe those are my only few down points. Other than that it was good. Came here for a celebration with some friends and we booked the private room in the back. Service was attentive and relatively quick. Sashimi was fresh. The beef tataki was okay. The hamachi and toro aburi sushi was really good! The tuna poke was good too. I also shared the spider roll which was a nice finsih to my meal. Overall, good quality and fresh fish! Fantastic place to visit if you frequent sushi. Although we are plagued by terrible Japanese food in the North Fraser area this certainly makes the grade. I'll admit I rolled my eyes to see another sushi restaurant coming soon but after dining with them i soon changed my mind. Their assorted sashimi is top notch. The freshness is undeniable and the presentation shows the food well. The decor is beautiful inside and staff were very helpful. I wasn't blown away by anything but the whole experience was very pleasant. If you like sushi it's one of three I would visit in town. Others being Sushiro and Wasabi. Check em out! read more

I'm super picky about Japanese restaurants and this has become our go to place, even as it is a 20 min drive from where we live in Coquitlam. I tend to gravitate to Japanese run restaurants, but this one is Korean owned, but I would bet that the owner has spent time in Japan training as the quality and presentation is top notch and they are constantly offering specials that are flown in from Japan regularly such as blue fin tuna (likely from Tsukiji market) and wagyu steak (omg, that was incredible, but prepare to spend). They have an amazing selection with some of our favourites being sushi shooter, uni nigiri and salmon salad. The service is also phenomenal and the interior is very clean and nice. Not your typical looking Japanese interior but more of a modern feel which is fine by me. read more
