We started throwing in leagues here at end of 2022 and have been enjoying it since. There's bowling football (kinda), darts, and occasionally corn hole. In the summer, there's food trucks and a restaurant has opened at the end of the parking lot. The drink variety is pretty great with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with snacks. You get coaching when you go in for a group to help you learn how to throw and get to play a variety of games. If you have enough time, you can try throwing the big axe. What I like most about Urban is that the employees are super welcoming and the axe community is too if you decide to join a league. You can learn to tweak your throw from a variety of different people and hone in on your technique. You don't feel bad when you're first not great at throwing since so many people want to help. There are various groups that host fundraising events and charities that collaborate like BARCS and Baltimore Humane Society. Give Urban a try!

You head to their website and make a reservation for a time, pay for said time and then take care of the required waivers that will be emailed to you. I supposed if you're coming on a slower day like Thursday, you could just show up without a reservation and take care everything once you get there. With that said, I made a reservation for an early Saturday night about an hour before showing up without issue. westecunkaxe.com/ Checking in at the front counter was very easy and before you know it, you're led to a bay to begin throwing. But, before you start throwing, they have several coaches who are all very nice-funny-gracious that take the time to make sure you know what you're doing so that you can get the most out of the experience. We had done axe throwing once prior at a place in Hershey and in comparison, the coaches here are more involved (in a good way) and that truly does make a difference. A few random notes: The place is small and when it's busy, things are very loud between all of the throwing. overhead music, laughing, etc. No problem hearing the lively vibe outside in the parking lot. Speaking of parking, there is a small lot that is shared with another business. When we showed up, there weren't many spaces left but we found one without issue. Would I recommend parking on the street somewhere close by? Caveat Emptor on that one. It is AC after all and the entire town always screams sketch. You pay for an hour of throwing/coaching time. We showed up a few minutes early so we lucked out into an extra 10 minutes that was very nice but by the time we left, the next group was definitely waiting for us to finish as it was a busy Saturday night. Overall this was a a lot of fun and now that we know it exists, I'm sure we'll be back in the near future.

We had the whole place to ourselves 2. We even got a little extra time (idk if it was because of the time or the guy) Billy was our couch for the session and he was fantastic! He was super nice, great teacher (felt like pros by the end lol), great photographer (will insert his pics below), AND he changed the music from country to pop without us needing to ask. We definitely weren't putting down a country vibe and he picked that up lol, very much appreciated. We paid $50 for the hour ($25 per person) and tipped of course just in case someone wanted a price range. Highly recommend!

But once we got in and got throwing those axes, we all had a good time! What we needed was a slightly more menacing and cathartic barroom outlet that makes the beer and the hard liquor go down that much easier. How about hurling the business end of an axe at an unsuspecting plywood target. After some basic safety instruction and expert pointers on technique it's time to let it rip. While I can't quite claim to be Jason Bourne or John Rambo going after a wild Boar, after about ten throws you can get the axe to stick consistently. This is good clean fun for the entire family, even the toddlers. Someone please get little Timmy a Modelo. Seriously, a solid five and many thanks to the great staff at Viking.

We came by on a Sunday evening and although the place was a bit quiet at the time, the owners made us feel welcomed. Facility looks new, nice clean, and welcoming. I was impressed by the level of coaching offered for a first timer like myself. Our instructor/guide gave me some really great feedback and I was able to stick my throws in the target a bit more consistently by the end of our one hour session. Thanks for the experience!
