I was hoping there would be a campground map but the park ranger hasn't had time to make one. The campgrounds is small and quiet. It is near the lake. They have hot FREE shower which was great and the washroom was also heated. I stayed at campsite 21, the only downside was not having two trees to hang up my hammock. Since this campground is lacking photos I took a bunch to share with future campers.

I recently went camping with some friends and we decided on this campground since it was a first…read morecome first serve. The other campgrounds in the area were all filled up. After we arrived and found out spot we were pretty excited to get our tent set up so we could relax and explore our surroundings a little. The campsites are pretty nice and not to close to the other sites. We also had our fire pit in addition to a grill which was so nice to roast our veggie hot dogs and marshmallows. Each site also has a bear box that you need to keep your food in so the bears do not try to steal your dinner. They have 2 restrooms with flushing toilets but without a sink or mirror. ( who needs a mirror when they are camping anyway) The night did get a little cool so make sure you have a warm sleeping bag. It was nice and quiet all night till the wee hours of the morning when you can hear the nearby cows mooing. I thought that was such a nice sound and a good outdoor feeling. There is a nice river to fish or play in which is surrounded by so much greenery and very pretty wild flowers. Not a whole lot to do around there other than that. I guess you could find some hikes somewhere nearby if you really wanted. So if your just looking for a nice place to camp and relax you will love it here. If your not into staying all night they do have a day use area as well and you can hang out down by the river but you will not get the fire pit. Try to carpool if you can because it is 6 dollars a night for each additional car and not a lot of room for more than that. oh, and one last thing, most cell phones do not have service so be prepared.

Pulling trout out of the stream across the road hit. Eating those trout for breakfast hit. It's a 20-30 min drive to South Lake Tahoe if you need to restock your cooler or tackle box. It's a short drive to potholes swimming hole. The whole experience was great, and we will come back.

Our flat spot was perfect for our Patriot Camper. The only knock I would give this place is actually more due to the fact that stupid Covid is increasing the number of people camping... The campground was packed. When we tried to come back two weeks later it was full. So that's not really any fault of the campground host or the facility. There's a beautiful creek on the other side of the road. As well as a very beautiful Hope Valley, which is very much worth hiking in.

This is the second time we have stayed at Silver Creek. It is a bit of a drive if going from the SF…read morebay Area but well worth the effort for the scenery, peace and quiet, and location. The sound of the Quaking Aspens at night in the strong breeze will lull just about anyone to sleep. The campground is close to Markleeville and Grover Hot Springs if you want to do some sightseeing in the area. Silver Creek is divided in the middle by the highway. Both sides have some really good sites to choose from. Some sites are held for those who want to risk the drive without reservations. There are only two pit toilets for the campground with one on each side of the road. There are plenty of water faucets and each site has a large bear box. For the adventurous there is a waterfall with a nice ledge to sit on and enjoy the view. Careful as the rocks are slippery. I won't tell you how to get to it because then it wouldn't be a surprise anymore. There is also a creek at the bottom of the campground and with a little effort you can find many spots along the waters edge where an afternoon could be whiled away doing some sunbathing and cooling off in some of the deeper pools.

My family went for our first ever camping trip the weekend before the Fourth of July. We had to do…read morea "first come, first serve" as our work schedules are unpredictable so reservations aren't always easy. We ended up at Crystal Springs and it was well maintained, the hosts were extremely friendly and accommodating, and the site was perfect for us. There are picnic tables, fire rings with attached grates for BBQing, and bear boxes for food storage. Some sites are better for trailers than others (these are marked). The bathrooms were vault toilets that I thought were quite clean. Cost of the site is $18 a day, $6 for extra vehicle. We also purchased three bundles of wood for $18 (one is $7). There's a rushing river nearby which we walked along but it's not water the kids can play in - it moves pretty fast where we were. But the kids had a lot of fun climbing rocks, playing in the dirt, and playing with glow necklaces in the dark. A great spot with quick in and out of you need it. The hosts, Amy and Eric, were really great.

September 19 through September 21, 2023. Came up for a…read morecouple day fishing trip with good friend. Campsites are both reserve and first come first serve. We showed up as first come first serve and we're lucky to get a beautiful spot right on the lake. They have nice deep fire rings, picnic tables and bear lockers. We didn't see any sign of bears. The sites are $27 a night and you can buy wood for six dollars a bundle or two bundles for $10. There is a 14 day limit on first come first serve sites. This time around, the road to Upper Blue Lake was open, so we headed up there to check it out. There are a couple campgrounds up there that have nice sites and include bathroom facilities. We ran into a couple of backpackers who convinced us to take the "short" hike to Granite Lake to do some fishing. We grabbed our fishing poles and gear and headed out thinking that short would be a quarter mile or so. The hike actually turned out to be 2 1/2 miles with about a 700 foot elevation gain. If we had known the distance, we probably would not have done the hike, but once there, we got a couple of very nice rainbow trout. We did not have any cell phone coverage in our camp, but at the 9100 foot elevation of Granite Lake we did have some pretty good cell coverage.
